Hello Shiv. You are so right. The plus point of gardening is also you get some food out of it during these unpredictable times. Please watch my latest video on it. Thank you for your view and comment. Stay safe! :)

Thanks for the videos. Last year I had two mango seedlings growing into 5-6 leaves and then winter in New Jersey was harsh on them so none survived. This year again I am going to try and hope that they survive. Every time summer comes with hopes :)

Hello babdoo, lol Yes. I made the same mistake here in Japan and lost two out of the three. I am extremely careful with this one. It stays in the house all winter :). Planning on making it an indoor plant. Stay tuned for more updates.
Yeah, summer is such a wonderful time.

      Hello David,
The mango plant is doing great considering the fact that I am not being able to attend to it the way I would like to. I want to move it into a bigger pot and am unable to find a good pot which looks nice indoors. As soon as I come across one, I will definitely make a video on it.
      Thank you for your comment!

Hi Bev, you plant Mango tree, which is lots of people’s mind to plant. I am in USA thinking to plant Mango plant last 2 yrs. but now after I saw I have a hope that I will grow this plant. I also plant Indian Amala ( called Indian gooseberry plant. In the last two winter I save it in my Garage of the House. and give water every two weeks. All my plant save in the Garage. I will be happy to know how tall is your Mango Plant now?

      Hello Mahendra bhai,
How are you doing? Yes, mango plants are very tropical and they need a lot of love and care in non-tropical conditions. It can be a pain moving them around but if the end result is biting into a sweet juicy mango which you have grown on your own with so much love and care then so be it :). I'm not home at the moment but I will measure it and give you the exact number once I can. I am planning to transfer it into a much bigger pot and turn it into a nice indoor plant. That is going to be a project on it's own. So stay tuned. Thank you for the view and comment.

I just got a foot tall mango plant from a friend. She just dug it out of the ground. There was no seed attached to the plant. What happened to the seed? Does it just rot away?

Out of interest do you know which is the one that survived? Was it the one with the seed horizontal or vertical - was that a factor?

Is it possible to buy a graft piece from India and ship it to Europe, would the stick survive. And can you please tell me when to give it fertiliser etc, thanks 😊

    • @funinjapanwithbevandeve1796
      @funinjapanwithbevandeve1796  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Ali,
How are you doing? Well, usually for young plants, fertilize once a month. Mango plants are not too fussy for water. watering once in a week or two weeks should be enough for them.
Well, whether the plant will survive the shipping trip is a gamble, isn't it? It will depend on the conditions the plant will be in and the shipping duration. Thank you for your view and comment. Stay safe my friend.

Hello Prakash, Thank you for your view and comment. Yes, unfortunately we will have to allow nature to take its course while this plant grows 😜. I’m excited as well to see how this will turn out as I’m trying this for the first time. Mangoes are tropical plants and as long as you can provide that controlled environment, I’m sure it can grow there too. Just be careful not to leave it out in the cold. I lost two plants like that.

Thanks again. I’m Indian and my wife is Filipina. We both come from tropical countries and that’s why we love mangoes 🙂. We are currently located in Japan so we can only put it out in the summer. The winter is quite brutal here. I initially grew three. Two died as I left them out in the cold.

Fun with Bev and Eve sort of I guess yeah...maybe it’s your climate, soil, and plant nutrition. My mango tree grew from 1foot to 5 feet peak with 3 main branches in 2 years here in Southern California and I thought it was slow.
