Well at least this video shows prep work. All the other videos I have watched so far already have the prep work done. That's what I needed.
The grass will just grow through the gaps between the bricks. It will look lovely for about 3 weeks then you will have a never ending battle with grass growing through the gaps into your garden. I suggest some mortar under and between the bricks as a more solid barrier

Regardless of agreeing or disagreeing with her methods, it's GREAT that the yard is basically flat. What about if there's a slope? I guess that's another vid...
That mulch will wash out and those bricks will shift. This will look good for maybe a season. Add some fine gravel or sand below the bricks and raise it higher to keep this from happening
I am new at all this I learned on a video to put fabric down then put stones on the fabric ...but first I had to dig p. Owners ugly tiger lilies. 35 ft x 4 ft wide and 6 inches down. I never wanna see another lilly again...I have 2 beautiful trees that p owner put in..so I left them . but DONT.FORGET TO GET ALL.THE ROOTS OUT FIRST 😢..
Oh and btw MULCH😢 Work every year. I have that ugly crap and 2 x 4 rotted around every inch of the house. Shovel and garbage. 😊 Ugh . Soon new beautiful nice stuff brick border too.

So glad I watched this video, I am planning a brick edged flower bed and I didn't want to use cement, wasnt sure if my thought was possible, I am so happy to see your looking great without adding cement.
Hope you don’t do what she did need to put 4” of concrete down before the brick this will need all redone in 3-4 years! Hit it with a mower then you will need to do it that day what a joke

Hope you don't live anywhere where there is a winter. THose bricks will be uneven after your first freeze. You need to put some type of crushed rock and sand base. You will be redoing this project in a year or 2.
i was wondering, what would be needed and how deep? sand base first? then crushed rock, then the pavers?
@@itr0863 From other videos ive seen at least 4 inches deep, 2 inches of crushed rock/gravel tamped down and then sand

Why am I subscribed to this channel.
I noticed home depot shows as many tools as possible in the video where they are not even required, good marketing strategy. All you needed for this work was the Shovel.
You need more tools than this if you want to do it right. You need mortar to secure the edging so they don't heave through the seasons. This video is worthless.

@@matt7iron Sure:)) Draw an outline on the grass using whatever is easiest for you. I use a paint line, then dig your trench out following the line you painted. Dig about 3 to 4 inches deep and make the trench a little wider than the brick you're using. Mix 'mortar' NOT concrete or cement, then lay some mortar(mix mortar thick, don't make runny, this will keep the blocks held in firmly as the mortar sets up to dry) Use a trowel to lay the mortar every few feet down your trench, then lay brick on top.. Use a rubber mallet or a dead blow hammer to tap on top of blocks to adjust when needed and follow the contour of your ground. This is the best and most permanent way to do it. If you don't use mortar the bricks will heave through the first winter or hard rain.

Take your time and do it the right way, 2 stack up needed, plus Mortar goes a long way.

Don’t you need to set the bricks with cement?
First I used sand, tamp my trenches really good.
You would need mortar for between the bricks ( preferably 2 rows high, staggered) for a more professional finish.

This isn't a very good practice for installing edging. In a year or two the pavers are going to be lopsided and unappealing, and you will be fighting grass and weeds growing between your pavers the entire time. If you are going to invest the money, time, and effort into a project like this, you should really watch videos of professionals doing this work and copy what they do. It'll take a little more time, but your results are going to be miles above this.
God this is horrible. Have fun dealing with shifting bricks and grass and weeds growing between them.
Can I just lay the base down with paver rocks and then put the paver on?
The end result looked horrible, I was excited to do this in my backyard but this video turned me off to the idea of it 😭💀

This job will not withstand two seasons, You will be restoring this after the second year. Bricks will move, grass will grow through bricks and garden bed and the rain will wash the material on to the driveway as it was just installed at soils grade.
Terrible advice from a building store.
Horrible advise, in so many ways. DON'T DO ANYTHING THE WAY THEY'RE RECOMMENDING. I'm embarrassed for Home Depot.
