This is amazing. How has TH-cam never recommended your channel to me? This is the most interesting and creative guitar playing I have seen on TH-cam. I heard some of your more straight-jazz videos (or a couple minutes of almost-straight jazz), and I thought it was very good and well played. But then i kept listening to your videos and your varied styles and interests, and now I just don’t even know what to call your music except just straight up ferocious creative musicality. Damn. Awesome.
Great comment; it's her varied interests and influences, open mind, and willingness to explore new things all the time that really makes her playing resonate with me; her references are are some of my favorites; from Coltrane to 20th century classical to Jazz rock fusion (as it was called in the early 70s), to Shakti and Zappa; it's such a rich and interesting set of influences!
Ok ok i have to say you’re extremely good at the guitar 🎸! Like you’re so fluent and smooth with your picking hand 🤚. I can definitely see Steve vai influence 💯 out 💯. His one my my favorite guitar hero’s as well 😇. Absolutely love this video 🙌🏻
I don't know how I never heard of you till yesterday but I am glad I finally did. Love the Bumblefoot nod too, you are brilliant and intuitive beyond belief, your resolve is tireless and dedication beyond admirable. Love it all..!!
Your ability to tap into what ever style you want is awesome and awe inspiring honestly. You’re so good but not just a technique junkie. Thank you for sharing this.
Thanks. I gave up on trying to just focus solely on technique at some point due to the fact that it was making me absolutely miserable... Marty Friedman said in an interview a long time ago something about trying to create "cool guitar moments"... And while I'm not really a rocker / metal player, I think that concept is more or less the right way to think in a lot of instances. I was actually listening to a Chick corea electric band live concert the other day and kind of came back around to realizing how much of my style is informed by the way he would play Piano and Rhodes.
@@TorySlusher yeah I think at some point it’s wise to go through drilling technique but it does get a bit boring. I know how you DIDN'T develop your chops. By posting selfies to instagram every day and texting all day. You want to get good at something, you gotta DO that something a LOT. You are really good at seeing those shapes quickly and that tapping stuff really makes the notes pop out when you hit the strings with a bit of speed. Also solves the whole picking problem except in some cases, I guess. nice.
Are you talking about the guitar by itself? Okay, so if that's the case then I just have everything plugged into obs, there's a direct signal going in on the one audio channel and then I have a mic on my laptop which is doing the vocals and just getting some ambient sounds, I just have a hot key to mute the mic so that it diverts back to the direct guitar signal by default.

There's actually a technique that I do where the left and right hands play the same notes, but on different strings and in the same octave, which simulates that fast double note thing you're talking about... I need to do a video on that kind of thing, eventually
Goddamnit she's great she's actually versatile unlike many guitarsts who just like that word. Unfortunately it's cruel that these good recommendations come only at such a time as 2 am my eyes are heavy but...
The whole "left hand comps the chords" while "right hand plays the melody" is just brilliant. Do you have a way you started on this and how did you develop it over time? So musical too! Very cool. But if I were to try this, it would be utterly glacially slow I think (in my case anyway) and would take a long time to do it at speed.
been enjoying your videos a lot over the past few days. have you heard of reinier baas? i'd be interested to hear your opinion, one of my favourite improvisers ever, definitely check out 2nd coming of homunculus
Biologically familiar. I am so enjoying that concept! of muscle memory. That was way funny and I spoke too soon, and I am doing it again as is my want. I don't mind doing it again though. You could make Jordon sand at the back of a room and take his wig off. I have only a couple of four string basses for a reason. Just don't need more strings really. Really.
Not so much anymore, I feel that it's sort of limits my approaches... Although I probably would use one if I was playing in a heavier rock band, just to prevent tearing up my fingers
i would say after having watched your channel for a while that you're a sort of Mozart of Jazz Fusion i think you need to fix your hum noise coming from your amp (maybe it's due to a ground loop)🧙♀
@@TorySlusher maybe it's smart meters injection into the power network ...they have transformed our good old power wires into mobile antenna (not talking of the myriads of 📡 everywhere) you can get some filter plugs online (at least 3) to get rid of these injections
@ 5:30 that's when I would start tear my right hand fingernail (the Blues thang). I never saw you attack it like that. You always get a LOT of sound with a light touch somehow. I'm a month now into drinking my beef collagen (100% grass fed, of course). Gotta get this nail stronger.
@@TorySlusher Thanks Tory, I'll try that. I am a bit of a digger. ⛏ Actually, I just realized that one can index pick a couple of ways. If I have my fingernail turned outwards then I'm only hitting the string with the flesh of my finger, no nail damage. I realize that a lot of time I pick the opposite way and the nail hits the string and I have that tendency to really whack the string. You're so calm!
Salen standard. I don't think they really make this color anymore, and they may be in the process of phasing out that particular model. I personally hope that they come up with an "essential" version of this guitar... With a straight scale, and maybe noiseless Nashville style telecaster pickup configuration.
@@TorySlusher Wow, never heard of those, yeah the Boden essential I could get one day. A guy locally has an Eart headless, says it's great but the action is maybe even too low for his liking and is selling it. Very tempted, selling cheap.

But if I were to try this, it would be utterly glacially slow I think (in my case anyway) and would take a long time to do it at speed.
Basically, I saw Stanley Jordan doing this originally, and then I started to listen to a lot of jazz pianists...
@@TorySlusher I was thinking that
Balawan is also very effective with this technique
Into the mind of a genius
Phenomenal! ♥
been enjoying your videos a lot over the past few days. have you heard of reinier baas? i'd be interested to hear your opinion, one of my favourite improvisers ever, definitely check out 2nd coming of homunculus
Definitely seems familiar
Biologically familiar. I am so enjoying that concept! of muscle memory. That was way funny and I spoke too soon, and I am doing it again as is my want. I don't mind doing it again though. You could make Jordon sand at the back of a room and take his wig off. I have only a couple of four string basses for a reason. Just don't need more strings really. Really.
Damn right, giddyup, killermonjaro.
Tuck and Patty sounds like, 22 century (around 19 to 20 min) they have that groove
Arrrroug ha a re a, noise, made dreary day -sunny
凄い!高崎晃さんもびっくりでしょうね。
Tory with a pick; are my eyes going bad? But my ears confirmed it; now I've seen everything! 🎸🎶🎵❤️👏👏👏
😆

Referenced Ruth underwood, damn. Ruthie had some chops
You are the best! ♥️😽
Still looking for my jaw - it’s lying somewhere on the ground
Monster player!
So the first words out of your mouth are about Ruth Underwood; ultra-hip!
And she picks. With a pick. Astonishing.
Not so much anymore, I feel that it's sort of limits my approaches... Although I probably would use one if I was playing in a heavier rock band, just to prevent tearing up my fingers
but its there if u want it!
the pinch harmonic made me lol
7:48 You just called buckethead out 😂
Podrias revelarme tu secreto de tapping por favor?, en teoria que es lo que tocas con tu mano derecha?
There's no secret it's just a bunch of practice
@@TorySlusher pense que habia alguna forma o manera de abordarlo. Gracias
i would say after having watched your channel for a while that you're a sort of Mozart of Jazz Fusion
i think you need to fix your hum noise coming from your amp (maybe it's due to a ground loop)🧙♀
It was something to do with where I was living.... It was an akron, there's some type of weird signal coming through there, I think
@@TorySlusher maybe it's smart meters injection into the power network ...they have transformed our good old power wires into mobile antenna (not talking of the myriads of 📡 everywhere) you can get some filter plugs online (at least 3) to get rid of these injections
just found you...and i can only say...U R a "" Monster " guitarist ...
I've just tried to play everything over the years...
That wall poster....... ET will come just to watch you play (that is if you are not ET already).
She's awesome
Can you play "Smoke on the Water" ...?
I don't think so,... Richie Blackmore wouldn't allow it
@ 5:30 that's when I would start tear my right hand fingernail (the Blues thang). I never saw you attack it like that. You always get a LOT of sound with a light touch somehow. I'm a month now into drinking my beef collagen (100% grass fed, of course). Gotta get this nail stronger.
I think it's because I'm hitting the string and kind of immediately getting away from it like brushing it... Not really digging into it at all
@@TorySlusher Thanks Tory, I'll try that. You're so calm!
i have no words. incredible smh
This is a couple years ago, which guitar is this one?
Salen standard. I don't think they really make this color anymore, and they may be in the process of phasing out that particular model. I personally hope that they come up with an "essential" version of this guitar... With a straight scale, and maybe noiseless Nashville style telecaster pickup configuration.
@@TorySlusher Wow, never heard of those, yeah the Boden essential I could get one day. A guy locally has an Eart headless, says it's great but the action is maybe even too low for his liking and is selling it. Very tempted, selling cheap.
Oh I see, that's a different model. Anyway, you are an early adopter, I'm such an early adopter that my kids are older than me. lol
