Dennis Campbell So true so true.. I just recommended this band to some troll who I guess took issue with me laughing at a really shitty cover version of King Crimson in the Court of the Crimson King.. the singing was horrible. This Japanese dude didn't like me laughing and saying oh my God... doesn't it figure I look at his channel he's got his own shitty cover band. Dread Zeppelin had the right idea ..add a really creative twist and you can do whatever you want
Up there with The Rutles for taking the piss and irritating Beatles fans and Paul McCartney!! First rule of entertainment is don't take anything seriously, you're in the spotlight so a target for criticism. In another life I'd have been a dedicated Dreadhead 💀 Bravo from a Limey Leatherneck 🫡🇬🇧
I saw these guys at the Empire Ballroom in Cleveland in 1990. By far the best "show" I've ever seen. These guys were one of the most inventive novelty acts around, knew it, played right into it instead of acting serious, and just the fun they had doing what they did made it a great show. I've been to a million concerts and I'll never forget this one. Thanks Dread Zeppelin!
Mojo Nixon opened for these guys and it was one of the best concerts I've been to. Hilarious at some points and as close to being at a Zep concert as a kid can get in the 90s. THEY WERE MUCH BETTER IN CONCERT THAN THEY ARE HERE.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I thought these guys disbanded, but to my sheer delite, "THEY'RE BACK" these guys are better than any cover group I've ever witnessed. "Sing on brotha, Play on drumma"- Jimi Hendrix
Notice one thing, with all the antics and crazy outfits, these guys are tight. Hell, they're tighter than many bands who take themselves way too seriously. Love Dread!
When I was on Jeopardy in the early 1990s, the correct question I provided was , "Who is Dread Zeppelin?), (This band performs Led Zeppelin songs with a reggae influence,) Years later, I got into their show in Las Vegas for free, because I told th story to the guy at the gate......Tortelvis' wife had never believed they were a Jeopardy answer, so I was asked to confirm it.)
Brilliant! the lead singer makes us BELIEVE he IS Elvis; has the soul and moves, and does the voice purrfectly. Kudoes to this band -- a hilarious satire, yet their sound is good, a pleasing, lower key version of Zep.
The fact that Robert Plant is on record as loving this band speaks volumes about his taste. they take serious rock and make it seriously fun. Although people without senses of humor will undoubtedly hate it. And this isnt close to one of my favorite songs of theirs.
Nope, it's sophisticated craftmanship at work here that keeps the song sounding good. If you'd just mess around with it, it would deteriorate I suppose
Best imaginary tour line-up ever: Me Mom & Morgentaler; Weird Al; Dread Zeppelin. People would literally need to be carried out on stretchers and have some kind of surgery to get the permanent smiles off their faces.
What nails the Elvis impersonation is that he only remembers the name and only introduces his personal assistant. “THAT’s Charlie Hodges ladies and gentlemen “
@TheBestGuitarSoloEVR Ha ha... Poor direction. Bear in mind that the people that ran the show had no clue who we were until we arrived probably 30 minutes before air time. And by the time they stopped staring at us in open mouthed amazement, realized that they didn't know a bass player from the soloist. To their credit, at least they show someone holding a guitar during the solo. Usually, they'd just do more close-ups of Tortelvis (scary!). That Carl Jah sure played it pretty, didn't he?
This concept was definitely influenced by psychedelics lol amazing cover. My older brother had this album. Haven't thought about these guys in over thirty years!
i saw dread zeppelin in regina sask in 94 it was totally great they rule i almost got into a fight with a guy who didn't like my dancing what a great night
You guys are nuts, this is the greatest lol. They pulled it off in my opinion, it might look stupid now but the formula worked! Whose with me? Ok, stop throwing tomatoes! I get it...
@PichonIglesias This is the original band... Butt Boy (Put-Mon) on bass; Carl Jah and Jah Paul Jo playing the gee-tars. Spice playing drums (sadly, no Fresh Cheese 'n' Cheese). What was and what should never have been!

Ok, I just find these guys now? Where have I been for 35 years?
Don't ask me, I ran into them yesterday 😂
@@biankacosma You have just entered a world of insanity...and it is quite wonderful and entertaining!!
You can't help but laugh, but they are actually all great musicians. These guys are a great example of not taking art and music too seriously.

I totally agree. I always say they're hilarious but don't let that overshadow what a fantastic band they are. Such a blast to listen to.
They’re incredible!! I’m glad they did this!

Let's work out this equation shall we? Led Zeppelin songs sung by Elvis with a reggae band backing him up? Genius.

So jealous!
Ditto
Man I miss the '90's! These boys were always a hoot but had the chops as legit musicans. Long live Tort!
Mojo Nixon opened for these guys and it was one of the best concerts I've been to. Hilarious at some points and as close to being at a Zep concert as a kid can get in the 90s. THEY WERE MUCH BETTER IN CONCERT THAN THEY ARE HERE.
Any act whose lead singer has a valet is awesome.
I'm 51 now. Still love it.
I saw these guys live in Lake Tahoe 25 years ago or so, sometime in the late '90's. Truly an awesome spectacle.
That's an awesome show, good music and funny as hell. Incredible how much the lead singer sounds like Elvis!
By far the greatest band of the 90's, if you dont like this for its great talent and creativity, well then, you dont have a soul......
Elvis mixed with hard rock and reggae. Gotta love it.
These guys represent what life is all about! You can't help but smile when you watch...
Great musicians, what a spectacle!
The worst and best of led and Bob and Elvis..all mixed in to one .. perfect puck😂😂love it ..more please

If I went to a club and these guys were there, Holy crap I'd be impressed and tell the world!
Tortelvis is the future of rock and roll.
I've really been needing a good laugh about something.their videos do the trick.totally absurd.i love it.

Thanks for making me LOL! Keep on rocking Zeppes!
I love this band!!
“Hot & Spicy Bean Burger” they were light years ahead of their time.
Smiles galore. Joe we miss you a ton. Your creation of this incredible band was sheer genius. Peace & love be with you friend wherever you are. RS
Seen somewhere in Amsterdam at some point in the general era of their tour and it was tons of fun as well as a phenomenal performance. Good times!
I have to watch this one everyday to put me in good spirits..
This is proof that no matter what you do to this song, it still sounds good.
Nope, it's sophisticated craftmanship at work here that keeps the song sounding good. If you'd just mess around with it, it would deteriorate I suppose
Saw them live Ambler Cabaret 1990, best highlight of that summer!
Surprising good rock and great musicians.
Yes, tongue in cheek, but it actually works!
Best imaginary tour line-up ever: Me Mom & Morgentaler; Weird Al; Dread Zeppelin. People would literally need to be carried out on stretchers and have some kind of surgery to get the permanent smiles off their faces.
loved these guys since 1992 on head bangers ball when MTV played music

How did we ever live without the internet?
What nails the Elvis impersonation is that he only remembers the name and only introduces his personal assistant. “THAT’s Charlie Hodges ladies and gentlemen “
the ending is just great... that new move blew my mind, so good
Watch Black Dog then, where he has elaborated JUUUUUUUUUZ a lil bit on that new move 😂
As Blues Traveller said ( It's all about the hook). And what a fine hook it is.😊
Big lz fan , heard of these guys but never actual heard their stuff. Could have gone the whole rest of my life and wouldn't have missed it.
It’s a full house.🎶👌And Hodge is there too.
Saw them in Vegas (of course) and they were great!
Genre overload!!! Loved it!

So I came here to see real music :)
This is pure gold. I’ve probably commented on this video 3 or 4 times at this point
This concept was definitely influenced by psychedelics lol amazing cover. My older brother had this album. Haven't thought about these guys in over thirty years!
You guys ROCK! would love to hear seriously how you all got together and came up with this idea
This band is amazing.
Unique and funny as hell. I remember Bill Hicks' bit about "Charlie Hodge, ladies and gentlemen; Charlie Hodge".

Absolute gold, and they managed to get Robert Plant to play lead for them!
man i love zeppelin and i love elvis and i love chocalate and when you mix all that you get dread zeppelin with more to love elvis singing lead
This proves it, Elvis is alive. At least he was back in 94.
Fuckin awesome! I really like how they throw back to the yard birds, the guitar player looks just like eric clapton from that era. Lol
"Kirk to Scotty, there's been a terrible accident on the transporter deck!"
RIP Jah Pa Jo, AKA my friend Joe Ramsey. I miss you

Gary Kovach so true since it's exactly 12:00 am and I've just found this band
Many years ago, he came on stage at a small venue in the UK, pulled out a pair of knickers and threw them at my wife :)
Thats my claim to fame,
This Rocks!!!
You guys are nuts, this is the greatest lol. They pulled it off in my opinion, it might look stupid now but the formula worked! Whose with me? Ok, stop throwing tomatoes! I get it...
The towl gag gets me every time 😂
@PichonIglesias This is the original band... Butt Boy (Put-Mon) on bass; Carl Jah and Jah Paul Jo playing the gee-tars. Spice playing drums (sadly, no Fresh Cheese 'n' Cheese). What was and what should never have been!
One of the (if not the) greatest concept bands of all time.
