- Grown under the inland hot California sun, socially distanced from each other, these mango trees are produced in such a way as to harden them up for entry into real world northern California conditions. Here is Golden Gate Palm’s flagship Mango variety in production.
Ataulfo mango- I’ve got several on my property and they have a distinct look -
They are cold hardy mangoes grown commercially in Mexico.
Your freeze /leaf explanation is spot on
For all you gringo's wondering whats up its either a corriente (current/common) mango or Criollo (creole) . The names sound cooler in Spanish than the English translation so just go with that
I will literally be there tomorrow to buy one
Where is this farm or place at ? What’s the name ?
En donde estas y cuanto cuestan los arboles me interesan
Hey Gary I live in the bay área in el sobrante but I'm trying to get mango tree for my house are you able to sell plants?
We have limited mango stock coming in Mid August from our So Cal growing ground. email your email address and we can notify u when they get here.
Can they be shipped to chico california or areas near chico ca.? I would love to buy one. Let me know please.
Wow, nice! I just purchased a Valencia Pride plant arriving early May. Can’t wait to see how it does here. Zone 10a.. . South of San Jose.
Where is that nursery located where you bought the trees?
It's the Ataulfo mango variety. That variety was created in mexico so in essence it is mexican. It comes from the Filipino type mangos.
Along with the Manilita mango, the Ataulfo mango is a descendant of the Philippine mango cultivar introduced from the Philippines to Mexico before 1779 through the Manila-Acapulco galleon trade. It was crossed with other mango varieties, resulting in the Ataúlfo. Regardless, Ataúlfo remains a Philippine-type mango,

How are these trees doing in March 2023
I had a history teacher who sounds exactly like your Spanish teacher and his name was Mr. King too! Also had a walking stick he would threaten with. lol
Acalanes High School, Lafayette, CA? That is funny! I thought there could only be one.
Awesome Trees bro!! Great job
Thanks 👍
How much for the Manila mango tree&do you deliver ? 😋.
Which is the nursery name so I can go and buy from there
Goldengatepalms.com, 425 Cutting Blvd, Richmond, CA, or our Southern California in Vista, CA
I love the comments from people wanting to buy these trees. Do they have any idea how much it weighs? Look at the size of the planter box. How are they going to move it once delivered? If you have it strapped to a pallet, then sent by LTL freight, where the driver has a liftgate and pallet jack - what's the homeowner going to do with it in their driveway? Who owns a forklift at home?
Just buy a 1 gallon tree. It will grow that size in a year
@@thehuntfortruth Lol not in northern california (where this nursery is located). It takes alot longer here (where the nursery is located) to grow mango trees. We have cold spring/fall/winters. Mango trees don't grow in the cold. It takes nightime temps somewhere in the 80's to trigger growth in mango trees, which means we only get an average of 2 growth flushes during the 3 warmest months of the year (June/July/August)
@@WebSurfingIsMyPastime Good point. You can bring inside or greenhouse it if you want more growth I guess
@@WebSurfingIsMyPastimethanks for the knowledge!
Can you please provide the location for pick up this mango plant?
We should have some trees in by the end of June
Where are you located? I'm in the bay area and am interested in your mango tree.
Our nursery is located at 425 Cutting Blvd., Richmond, CA. You can make an appointment with my salesman Kyle at 510-332-4212. We also have a really good website at www.Golden Gate Palms.com

GARY I LIVE IN Orange County CA.HOW MUCH AND HOW CAN I GET ONE THANKS

Yes, I know that excitement intimately. And I just pretend to be an expert. Still learning every day

We should have some at our nursery by about May
What nursery and we’re at?
@@ScaryHairyGary 👍🏻
Can I grow one I the emerald triangle
I need ataulfo mango
Please send it me
Crucial info here.
Probably corriente varieties. A Philippine race mango developed in Baja California
Yes, that’s pretty much what I’m guessing. It really is a tough plant. We have one fruiting in the nursery now.
@@ScaryHairyGary How much are the 15gal mango trees?
Gary Gragg's True Plant Stories what kind of climate can it grow in? Can it grow in a temperate climate? I’m guessing it can’t grow in a cold temperate zone. I know most mangos grow well in tropical or subtropical areas but I do know some grow them in Melbourne area which is a temperate zone. I’m not sure what you guys call your zones in the US so I need to look it up and study the weather zones for other countries.
@@NMW80 No such thing as a mango that grows in temperate climate unfortunately. This or the Bailey's marvel tend to survive cold better but you'd still want to bring them insode for frost if you can help it
@@thehuntfortruth absolutely I know lol I tried growing some from seed and they all died in winter. I do have avocados growing where I live though which is awesome.
You ended it with calling it the "Mexican avocado" instead of mango.
Yeah, that’s one of my Challenges in life; I’m much dumber than I look
Hmmmmm.....wonder how to get one to Chico. :D
I might be heading that way in a month or two. Let me know if I should drag one up. I think frost protected pockets of Chico/Redding etc would be ideal. All that heat. Then you would have the most northerly mango in the western hemisphere
@@ScaryHairyGary *Excellent! * I already have the the northerly most mango, HA! Well not really bc it hasn't been thru a winter yet. I'll contact you at the nursery then? I have a Wurtz and Reed of yours both doing very well in the ground 13 months.
@@ScaryHairyGary I see only one type of mango on your GGP website--Corriente, I take it that is this type? Dunno if I missed that trip you mentioned but I'm still interested, if you bring one up I would probably go for a larger one if I pick one up in my car (as I did with Wurtz and Reed) it will have to be a smaller one.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣good video btw
“a big one” thats what u tell yourself those are some small ass mangoes 😂
Give me an address where I could buy bigger ones in California to bring to my nursery and I will call you a hero.
@@ScaryHairyGary an address you can look up is elementary school apparently you have no idea what big ones mean don’t describe anything big when its clearly small 😂
Atailfo.
Yes, the shape look like Ataulfo's. These fruits are available Asian grocery stores in the Bay Area.
