Hey hopefully this was informative! Please leave a like on steam and let me know on what you would like to see next in this game! TYSM steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3009794461
I used this video alot as im building a castle tree base, as well as a couple castles around the map in safer areas so i can add a story to the vanguard. Building keeps and castles for the king and queen to experience the overworld.
I know, there are a lot of things that will count as a shelter. If you put a ladder over a foundation that counts as well a "shelter". We were just using the wall and roof piece to keep consistency with all four variants.
I put this game on my wishlist ages ago! Looks like I missed the relase news. I imagine they protected stone fountations in order to allow outdoor paths without needing to always need a "covered sidewalk" type of structure. Well, I'm off to download the game!
I am glad that at least this game is supposed to come out on consel. I only have a Playstation and waiting for it to come out towards the end of the year.
Thanks for posting. New to game. Got a 5 x 5 square in basic wood/twigs stuff as a testing integrity start off project. Got 2 floors and cant place walls on the 3rd floor. I assume the 2nd floor material is affecting how high I can build? Wish there was a colour coding thing like in Valheim so you could work out the integrity. Not sure what Im doing wrong....(I assume you cant place foundations on 2nd floor lol)
i agree, valheims building was really good. When I did this video they actually added in more building mechanics like pillars, not sure how those work, but i do think the building in this game is very interesting.
I have not touched smalland in a minute. I will jump back into at some point, but it used to be just with three foundations you would need a pillar for pretty much all.
So that means my full wood base can go higher my trying to replace my wood foundations/pillars with metal to go higher than 5 floors, but devs need to put in a replace feature in the build tool so i don't lose my entire crafting floor at the top due to poor structure. Been looking for this info for a while, cuz the grounded content creators haven't moved to smalland yet
Just looked at your channel, wouldn't be surprised if you went back into ARK since every other game on your channel doesn't get nearly enough views to make it worth it. But still really appreciate this video so i didn't have to test it out for myself.
@@Servermomma13 i am going back to ark. not because of views, i play what i want. I really like smalland and will play it cause i like it. but we want to do a modded playthrough using Primal Fear mod on ark at somepoint.
the metal structures you have to buy from the merchant. the stone structures I believe you got unlocked from the windmill because it unlocked clay mortar. Wood was from picking up Bark i believe
@@seeshellgaming6883 So, not all foundations support ceilings? That doesnt make much sense. But I'll try. How do I get/unlock other foundations? I just have the one. And I'be been playing a lot
so there are newer structures that were added into the game, like horizontal pillars were added after i did this. I will have to go back and look at the newer building strcutures

You can just raise the foundation all the way up and hide under it and it counts for shelter!
yes, we know this, we are just using the example you see here as a "control" I know about the foundation trick though, thank you

that sounds awesome! i love base designs. Good luck with the castle!
a shelter don't have to include a wall to be safe from a storm, a foundation and corner roof works just fine as well.

dont even need to do that just a foundation does the job
place a regular foundation high where you can walk under, easiest shelter =)
Thanks. Very nice and informative videos on smalland. :)

awesome, glad that you got the game. Your idea does make a lot of sense and that is what we thought as well. I like it, very good game.
Thanks to you 2, helpes alot for me :)

it is a very good game
The rotated walls make me think of staircase walls, for safety. 😎

np
building go tall
yes, very high!
what i wanna know is: any difference in sustaining dmg?
Many times I have taken temporary shelter from a storm just by standing under a foundation.
yup, that is a good strat.
How do u put a sign on things?
What about mixing horizontal? How long could you make a floor basically?
I have not tested that aspect. at the time of recrodign this horizontal structures were not a thing in the game when i made this video
what about roofs? Also what about if you increase the scale? like to 2.0

How do I unlock stone, wood, metal building structures?
the metal structures you have to buy from the merchant. the stone structures I believe you got unlocked from the windmill because it unlocked clay mortar. Wood was from picking up Bark i believe
Wish they explained how the roof works. I havent been able to place a single roof. I think my game might be bugged
normally it is about your foundation support. not ceiling, foundation

what about the smaller vs the larger ones?

i legit can not build anything, not even a foundation cause of no structural support
