      How exciting!! I was already in argentina when I booked onto the Antarctica trip, but I had bought a one way from the us to buenos aires for about 650USD in premium economy (kind of a steal 😊), and then made my way down to punta arenas with buses and the budget airline flybondi. Hope that helps!

    From which airport did you fly to antarctica? Ushuaia, Chile or the Falklands?

      Ah! can't believe I forgot to include that! We flew out of Punta Arenas, Chile

      Get it right mate, it's MALVINAS islands, the French were the first to arrive there and they named them Malouines, then they abandoned them and then argentinians colonised not only Malvinas but other southern islands as well; there were a governor and civil Argentine population when Britties arrived and invaded in 1833; they removed by force all Argentine population and settle a military population, even today there are more military population than civil one

    • @dokichokei
      @dokichokei 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ggl2947 the English have been calling them Falklands since the 1600s, long before the French arrived, however they didn't establish a colony until the 1760s. When the Spanish took over, the British still occupied the Western Island, unbeknownst to the Spanish. This nearly started a war, but a treaty was drawn up allowing both nations to maintain their claims to the islands, with the Spanish on the Eastern Island and the British on the Western Island. The British later abandoned their colony soon after they lost their colonies in North America, but continued claiming sovereignty over the islands. After the revolution, Argentina tried to claim the islands based on the previous Spanish claim, but Britain did not accept this and sent letters of protest. When these protests went unanswered, they sent a ship to expel the Argentine garrison, but kept the remaining Gauchos and Colonists to keep the colony going.

    Such an amazing and informative vlog. You deserve million more subscribers. Just a question, I am confused about one thing. First you flew to Antarctica and then got on a boat again to Antarctica?

    • @lifebylinda
      @lifebylinda  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much, I'm glad you found it helpful :) So yes basically. We flew to a base in Antarctica and then got on the boat from the base to travel around Antarctica for the 12 days. This meant we were able to skip the 2 day journey across the drake passage on our way out and only had to pass through it on the way back
