I had the privilege of seeing Peter Frampton do a show in a small club back in '94 or '95 where I had a seat just above the stage and about 30 feet away from where Frampton performed. It was the finest rock music experience I've ever had, and the most lasting impression I took away from it was the total joy and enthusiasm that Peter showed for the entire show - he gave it everything he had and he never stopped smiling the whole time. It's so rare to witness an artist perform a labor of love like that.
Peter is an incredible musician and songwriter. Frampton Comes Alive is widely considered to be among the greatest live rock recordings in history.🎸🤟🤟✌️❤️
Got to see the David Bowie "Glass Spider" tour at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia, Pa. in July 1987, from the fourth row. And seeing Peter Frampton stride out onto the stage and start playing his Guitar was, for me, the highlight of the concert. You could see he was really enjoying the moment, and he was playing great, so it was good for everyone who was there.
As a teen in the ‘70s I clearly remember when “Frampton comes alive” came out, and the hoopla surrounding it. None of us had ever heard of him, so he truly came out of nowhere, and then seemingly back from whence he came, nowhere. Everything was word-of-mouth & peer reviewed then. Yes, I bought the album and loved it. I think it was the 3rd album I ever bought; the first being “Genesis Live” for $1.98 at a local convenience store. What a different and magnificent world through nearly every measure (but not every) we live in today. Thanks for this, cheers 👍
Hey Peter- Im In You got me thru an abusive childhood. I played it obsessively and your voice was/is so very calming and loving. Sad to hear it was a bad experience for you. It saved my life.
Bowie was a class act! And he had one of most iconic voices in Rock! He and Freddie Mercury singing together was quite special. Having Frampton play guitar with him on tour was a testament to his respect for a legendary guitarist.
Saw Frampton in 1976 un real! Saw him again in 20? Incredible lead guitar playing and singing Including a Sound Garden cover and playing Blues with BB King.!!! His singing and playing Are still fantastic. A Geezer in great physical and mental Life force.
I saw Bowie at an arena from the cheap seats. His persona and stage presence were so big that he filled that place and I walked out of there completely satisfied with the show. Gigantic personality.
Have seen Peter many times starting with his tour to promote the live album. He is the most Gracious performer I've ever seen not to mention his talent. I was at his 35th anniversary tour at Pine Nob. The starting time was 7:30 pm. He began on time and was half way through his first song when a group of front row center folks hustled in and looked exasperated, He stopped I was close enough to hear the exchange they where surprised he didn't have an opening act. He giggled and said its billed an evening with Peter Frampton! And said folks do you think it would be ok if I started from the top? Cheers and laughter and He played for us till 11:15 and apologized for ending the show because of the outdoor venue's noise curfew. God Bless you Pete.
Love Peter Frampton, great musician and a wonderful guy. Frampton's Camel is one of the most underrated rock albums of all time - great tunes throughout. I prefer the studio version of "Do You Feel ... " over the more famous live, talk-box version.
2nd row for the glass spider tour in St. Paul MN. stood up on my seat yelling "DAVID" and he knelt down while singing cracked actor and pointed at me. It was awsome! 😊
A Big part of the reason I went to see The Glass Spider show was because I knew Peter was going to be in David Bowie s band, his solo on the outro to Loving the Alien was one of the greatest highlights of the night . I was at one of the filmed Sydney shows that is on the DVD my friends brother worked @ Ticketek and got us fantastic seats about 15 rows back on the floor awesome night !
I saw Frampton in Boston last summer (2023). After the HOF performance I think he's starting to regain due recognition, but to say he's underrated would be an understatement.
I saw him at the paradise..years ago..I was there with my girlfriend and her sister at the time. We used to greet each other by giving each other headbutts.. I was standing right in front of Peter and the sister had a few drinks. She gave me a hard headbutt. It sounded like banging 2 coconuts together.. Peter saw this and stopped playing and looked at me like "are you ok?? I laughed and said yeah man..she does that all the time.. He laughed and started playing again...didn't miss a beat.. So funny..seemed like a great guy..
@kevinflynn4519 He still is. Being in the space with him live (his 2023 Boston show was at the MGM Fenway next to the stadium), you just how genuine he is about his love for performing among the audience. He was seated on a stage that protruded a little into the GA section. He'd share little anecdotes where he takes his nerve condition in stride. There were digitatized "liquid light" projections as he played a setlist including "Black Hole Sun" (which closes with a tribute to Chris Cornell). When he starts adlibbing his guitar vocalization, you see just how much analog talent goes into his reshaping that guitar audio into syllables. I saw Letters to Cleo and the Giggolo Aunts at the Paradise in the fall. Very fun show. People were geeking out about the songs on the Green Line afterward.
Blessed to see Peter’s 2019 Farewell Tour w his son Julian, and Jason Bonham drumming. Might as well have been the Winterland Ballroom, San Fransisco 1975. Magical evening. I’m glad he’s still playing.
Mmmmmm I dunno man even back in the 80s and with all the lights, that spiders legs still looked like the hose out back of the dryer - half expected it to return all the socks from the sock void at the end.
Gee ! what a connection, your my fav guitarist and everything, and also David Bowie is one of my favourite original Artist great combination to have on my list of legends.
Sorry to have missed the Glass Spider tour in 1987. I was studying abroad in England at the time and could have traveled from Newcastle to Sunderland to see it. Ended up not. That was definitely a miss. Great to hear Peter talking about his school mate and friend David Bowie.
I saw the Glass Spider tour show in Brisbane and was about 50 feet from Frampton but watching Carlos Alomar the whole night, unaware until the band was introduced. All I remember is being overjoyed that he was back on stage.
I met Carlos Alomar a couple of years ago. He is an incredible fella. He's gave a talk at a Bowie tribute conference and has an aura about him which just makes you sit and listen with amazing concenration. He was walking around afterwards, just talking to people. The closest I can describe him would be like a buddhist monk walking amongst believers. Very spiritual. Yet, I'm not in the least spiritual. But he could have talked me into shaving my head and wearing an orange robe 😄
I’m ok with someone having a shorter span of greatness creatively and then carrying that forward with continued and relentless excellence. Frampton Comes Alive is without question one of the great albums and rock experiences ever. It was and is bigger then life. I saw him in concert two years ago when he announced he was going to quit regular touring do to his nerve condition. He was amazing. No doubt he is a legend and as humble as they come which is the great part of old school. It’s just that they all back then got ripped off and should have made a ton more money then they did. But the world can be very predatory. But that humbleness I miss. Now ‘stars’ all seem to think they’re all that. I guess that’s what money and constant social media attention do to you. Sort of damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Anyway rock may be dead creatively but it’s legendary music and influence lives on.
So talented. Saw him in the last decade and he shockingly performed Frampton Comes Alive straight through and i sat there with the biggest smile on my face the entire time. It was like being back in time. He was outstanding and still is even sitting down. He is a class act.
I saw Peter & David on the Glass Spider Tour Auckland 1987 at Western Springs Stadium, I think I remember Frampton suspended over the crowd on some sort of diving board thing, doing the opening break to 'Do You Feel Like We Do, and Bowie on his throne birthed from the womb of the enormous spider covering the stage scaffold. Unfortunately I missed the Serious Moonlight concert at Western Springs 40 years ago, on 26 November 1983. one of Aotearoa's largest concerts, with a crowd of well over 80,000. Peter rocks on and Bowie has changed, fear not he will never, ever, die, he just cant play anymore concerts.
I must admit I play old Herd and Humble Pie numbers more often than his 70's stuff. Then again his solo stuff from the 70's actually pop up on the radio sometimes, not the Herd,
Pete Frampton is so good at telling his story that bit with Dave Bowie exclaiming In surprise “That’s Pete! What’s he doing on TV TOTP? He should be at school” that’s so English 😂 we used to get so excited and inspired when one of our own sticks 2 fingers up at authority and does their own thing in such a cool way against the established order 😂
It was what,19 '76-77 Sun Devils Stadium, Phoenix/Tempe Az, 46,000 peoples paid like $4.50 a ticket, IDK filming crowd scenes for that movie "A Star is Born" Barbara Streisand and Kris Kristoferson a concert from 8:00am to 8:00pm Peter Frampton, Santana, fuzzy here I want to say BT Express and Montros. I was cooked, baked, tanned, and spanked, Lordy I had a good time! 50 years of memories, that I can remember! LOL Haahaha I was alive!
Will never forget the I'm In You album cover. It was as bad as the Billy Squier video for a career. Great that both artists were able to recover over time.
Frampton was always grounded..even in the 70s..always a class act and a humble dude!! Well respected 🎸 guitarist worldwide..
He may have been “grounded” personality wise, but in the 70’s he was higher than a kite! 😂
I read his autobiography. It's amazing how people let drugs drag them down. Fortunately, some of them recover.
I would love to live in a world with people like Peter Frampton.
You do live in a world with Peter Frampton.

Right on!
Do you feel like we do ...? ✌️💜
✌️💜
Absolutely brother ....🤟🤟🎸✌️💜
You can literally see his kindness the pain and his grace
Much health & happiness I saw him in the 70's great man
I saw him play with Bowie on that tour. What a treat that was!
Peter is such a likable guy and a great musician. Dan Rather, his interviews are always perfect. Nobody does them better than him!

Mad respect for Frampton!
Class act. Love Frampton. What a great guy.
Thank You Peter Frampton for all you have given us!❤
He deserves a ton of respect for his playing

Frampton and Bowie were so great in concert. I feel blessed to have seen both.
Hey Peter- Im In You got me thru an abusive childhood. I played it obsessively and your voice was/is so very calming and loving. Sad to hear it was a bad experience for you. It saved my life.
Hi buddy I also love this album, extremely under rated.
Mad Respect for Mr Frampton! Thoughtful & mega talented. Very rare in these days. Imagine that TWO icons came from that same school.
Bowie was a class act! And he had one of most iconic voices in Rock! He and Freddie Mercury singing together was quite special. Having Frampton play guitar with him on tour was a testament to his respect for a legendary guitarist.
Monster guitarist. Great chops, killer tone, versatile, creative ideas. Always a joy to listen to.
Saw him with Humble Pie in Glasgow and his own band at Wembley Arena. Nights I will always remember. Steve's voice and Pete's Les Paul .
From Where I stood, I'm in you
was a huge hit with us teens and teens are the ones buying the records. Great memories for a generation.
Dude is a legend
Peter, you look Great!!!!! Thank you for the 70's. Jeff from Brooklyn
Saw Frampton in 1976 un real!
Saw him again in 20?
Incredible lead guitar playing and singing
Including a Sound Garden cover and
playing Blues with BB King.!!!
His singing and playing
Are still fantastic.
A Geezer in great physical and mental

We saw Bowie in concert in Houston many years ago with Frampton in the band. Great concert.
Love you Peter. You are an increbible musician.

Saw Glass Spider tour. It was awesome.
Love this guy! Dan Rather is a great interviewer. Both of these guys are great.
Love them both. We miss you, David Bowie! Love you, Peter, you are still super handsome and have the kindest eyes 😘
Love Peter Frampton, great musician and a wonderful guy. Frampton's Camel is one of the most underrated rock albums of all time - great tunes throughout. I prefer the studio version of "Do You Feel ... " over the more famous live, talk-box version.
He owns "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" hands down! Even Clapton bowed out a few times on stage to Peter's playing that song.
Seen him 6 times live. Always the best live show. Love hum
The albums he recorded with Humble Pie were 🔥🔥🔥

Born 76🎉 Feel as I was their with Framton and Lynyard when I watch the videos 🇩🇪👍🎸🎶👊

One of the greatest fret-masters / songwriters of our time ….in my top five for sure….and what a great guy , so humble and unassuming…..just a genius.
Went to see Frampton in Vegas, in August. There was a guy in his 30's, to my right, who was just glued to watching his fretwork! 😊
Blessed to see Peter’s 2019 Farewell Tour w his son Julian, and Jason Bonham drumming. Might as well have been the Winterland Ballroom, San Fransisco 1975. Magical evening. I’m glad he’s still playing.
P. Frampton was a great musician !!! long live the guitar legend 🎸🎸🎸♥️♥️♥️🎸🎸🎸
Saw him last year on stage in Paris for his farewell tour. Great performer and a gentle soul
I saw him with Bowie during the Glass Spider Tour. It was the first show from the tour, in Rotterdam
The Glass Spider tour is so underrated. Yes, it was the 80’s, and I know that Bowie didn’t like the album, but man! What a show!
Mmmmmm I dunno man even back in the 80s and with all the lights, that spiders legs still looked like the hose out back of the dryer - half expected it to return all the socks from the sock void at the end.
I do love Peter Frampton!!! ❤❤❤❤
RIP David Bowie 🕊️🌹🙏🏼.
I remember going to see that tour in Philadelphia at Veterans Stadium before they tore it down. Thank you for the trip down memory lane!!
Saw him live several years ago opening for Journey and Def Leppard in Toronto. He's an awesome guitarist and frontman.
amazing story about these three guys
Saw the Glass Spider tour in Kentucky. Frampton was great on guitar.
Gee ! what a connection, your my fav guitarist and everything, and also David Bowie is one of my favourite original Artist great combination to have on my list of legends.
Great sense of self awareness. Rare. Magnificent artist.
Sorry to have missed the Glass Spider tour in 1987. I was studying abroad in England at the time and could have traveled from Newcastle to Sunderland to see it. Ended up not. That was definitely a miss. Great to hear Peter talking about his school mate and friend David Bowie.
He was and still is a phenomenal musician.
Love the interview ! my brothers friend lives in the house in Los Angeles Peter Frampton used to own,.. small world

i saw the glass spider tour in portland oregon, and i saw peter play at the edgefield in oregon last summer
I always look up at Bowie's house on Lafayette in Manhattan as I walk or run by.
Such a sweet man.
I saw him in 1976, at a large outdoor concert. But sadly, i can’t recall it. Well, it was the ‘70’s
Saw him in 76 also at Anaheim Stadium in California. My first concert
Hot damn!!! He still looks good.. but I remember in the 70s how beautiful he was.. especially his hair.. rock on Peter Frampton!!!
I was there at the glass spider tour in Sydney in the 80s!
Wonderful man, Great musician.
I must admit I play old Herd and Humble Pie numbers more often than his 70's stuff. Then again his solo stuff from the 70's actually pop up on the radio sometimes, not the Herd,

this bright spark interviewer keeps calling him david booooey
I wish Danny had asked Peter about his role in that episode of the TV show, Baa Baa Black Sheep.
Still amazing musician, still gorgeous. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Peter is a Ledgend great guitar player and very humble person.
love Love LOVE Peter Frampton
El tem um sorriso Hermoso e É una persona Mucho Humilde
O tempo nao passa pra vc😮 deus te abencoe🙏😍
Love Dan Rather's interviews.
Why?? Because he has little cartoon hearts popping out of his chest throughout? He is unbearable (1:29).
Well spoken

happy guy. lessons learned.
Seems like a wonderful human being. Even if I hated “Frampton Comes Alive” as a prog rock fan in high school.
Best Live album EVER!!!
Oh, btw, I'm so happy Peter finally found his original "Black Beauty" custom Les Paul. what a story that was!
If there is a person on earth I'd love to shake hands with, it's Peter Frampton. Seriously.
1:45 ah? This man just happened to have played Guitar on the song "Grease" whilst "on the way down"
Still as beautiful as ever! ❤
Very likeable chap
George Underwood actually was better known as the artist who painted the 'Diamond Dogs' sleeve - although the Ziggy album was a colourised photo?
Could you please upload the Bowie special Mr Rather presented following his death in 2016?
High grade fella and great guitarist. Trust, David and Peter would have caused some shit back in the day. :)
Go see Frampton's Never Ever Say Never tour!
Where have all these great performers gone the alive ones that is
Love ya Pete.....we should jam sometime....
You are so amazing. I do love you so much ❤
He looks great.
Will never forget the I'm In You album cover. It was as bad as the Billy Squier video for a career. Great that both artists were able to recover over time.
A high class person
