I believe the diesel engine was damaged during impact, door 12 may have also been damaged. It's not outside the realm of possibility. And an actual naval officer did a reaction to this, apparently those doors just fail at the worst times no matter how well maintained they are. The captain's still an idiot though.
Schettino was apparently fine if all is normal, but he buckles under pressure. And there's the whole language thing. But the whole bridge crew contributed to how bad that all was. That said, it could have also been much worse. It could have sank at sea.
I cant be the only one annoyed by that person in chat spoiling stuff/stating the obvious. Im actually so upset him or a mod didnt ban them. People like that piss me off so much.
I was already ded when you said "I'm not getting on that boat" I really died when you said "bitch is going down anyway just start looting"
Boo he skipped the ads!
The last turn before hitting the rock WAS suppose to turn left instead of right, since even if the head of the ship missed the rock, the back need to swing around the rock.
51:00 Yes, they bribed the judges. That they, knowing that basically 88% of Italian's sea-related introits are tied to the tourist industry, took to avoid an(other) economical crisis.
everytime a nice time to watch an internet historian video again.
12:50 actually he needed to turn left to swing the back away from the rocks.
"How tf do you not understand?"
*proceeds to also confuse left with right*
According to a naval navigator who reacted to this as well, captaincies aren't common. While qualified and certified officers wait, they take on whatever posts they can. Like security chief. That said, Costa Concierge was lax enough to hire someone who couldn't understand the language much to a post dependent on understanding languages, as well as keeping Schettino even after he'd crashed two of their ships. Not for nothing, but Costa Cruiselines also owns Cunard, and among their fleet is the only remaining ocean liner that does transatlantic crossings today, _RMS Queen Mary 2_ . Fortunately they changed a lot about how they do that, and Cunard are sticklers for procedure.
Sixteen knots isn't even particularly fast, but we're talking cruise liners here, they're not built for speed. _Titanic_ was capable of 21 knots. The fastest ocean liner ever built was _SS United States_ , which could go over 30 knots without opening the throttle up fully.
30 knots was dawdling for the United states she managed at least 35 on her maiden voyage and could have got up to 40+.
You watch Internet Historian?? Lmaoo I never expected to see Internet Historian here🤣
I'm dying 😂 "you are now closer than you have ever been before, honk the horn."
He needs to watch more from the internet historian. Hes one of the goats of youtube
Regarding the swing and collision, they likely would have missed the rocks had the helmsman followed the captain’s orders. Once the fore of the ship had passed the rocks, they had to center then turn left to swing the aft of the ship away from the rocks. But at one point, the helmsman turned right (away from the rocks) instead of left swinging the aft right at the rocks. Maybe he panicked and turned right to get away from the rocks but you cannot do that with a big ship that’s that close to rocks.
The captain was apparently pretty good at being a captain, but he was just as crap as he seemed dealing with a major emergency.
i have watched this video like 10 times by now, everytime its blast
I make 2 of these boats per hour at gyfins chump change smh
Next the fall of 76
the 13th in Italy actually brings good luck. 17 is the number that, for us, is bad luck (it is like 13 in the USA, if there are buildings whose house number is 17, it is often called 16b, as in the USA the 13th floor is not present, the same is for us with 17. The only place where 13 brings bad luck is when you are at the table, given that at Jesus' last supper, there were 13 at the table, Jesus, 11 apostles and 1 traitor.
I hope blue watches Internet historians Fallout vid oh my
Wow, that's like 5 blackstar pen weapon upgrades.
... please tell me he was ironic about the whole vaccination thing? ^^'
The glass bottle not breaking on the ship one at least makes some sense because why is it not strong or hard enough to break champagne? You drop a bottle of champagne on the ground and that's enough to break it- especially with the carbonation building up pressure in the bottle. The material of the boat apparently isn't hard enough to break a glass bottle? I feel so safe already. Good thing there's nothing stronger than glass in the ocean.
Hold on. Did i just stubbled upon bald Asmongold by accident? I can see some inspiration taken on 6th minute.
Oh boi can't wait to see the remaining Internet Historian Videos on here ngl. Area 51 and the Caves >:)
After extencive research over 25 years of the italian mafia, I can confirm he was an "assosciate" for sure. I put that in quotation marks because they never had to do anything but say hello to him. A man so sloppy with his affairs and in high position, coked up at work, from Napoli, they had alllll the dirt they needed. He would've met a made man he prob knew at some point during his life, seemingly random. A reminder THEY are in charge in it self, then asked politely into trafficing drugs and he had to smile and agree. He would've had to pay the bill at the restaurant where they celebrated their "grand scheme", no doubt. Just when he thought he was out, they pulled him back in. I don't believe the italian mafia placed him in the company and rocketed his career, that seems like too much time, too little cash flow for them. I've never seen anything criminal documented during his time as head of security to justify a made man in Napoli giving a damn about him. You may think "Security = controls the valuables", but in fact he was never at the same place consistantly enough for anyone connected to have control over him. Also, passengers would've complained to the point that Costa had to do something long before a monthly pay is due. You may think "They made him captain so he could traffic drugs", but they could (I think they did) make him traffic anything as head of security.
My research is just reading and watching anything connected to journalistic works about Costa, the mafia, or dramatization of real events about them. Everything is aviable to the public, but I have a photographic memory. I understand the rules they live by, I've read ALL the documents from every legal encounter a made man has ever been in, as well as everything recorded involving this "capitano". 10,000's of pages, if not 100,000's.
Hello Teach just the other day i was actually searching up on your channel if you ever reacted to this specific video ahahahah im glad its out now cant wait to see whats cooking im starting to watch it now ❤🤣

damn, that's like losing a carrack in bdo
Losing a carrack in a video game that took a month and a half to create is indeed roughly equivalent to the 570 million dollar multi year project we see here yes.
15:14 That is a bad design that apparently all tourist ships suffer because the owners want to cram as much paying passengers and luxury options as possible, thus all the 'ugly' parts are crammed on the bottom of the ship instead.
He reminds me of a bald asmon.
lovely story
You have to do all IH videos. You simply must!
Oddio, ho capito mò che non è Blur

First time watching the channel, and this was amazing. Very funny 👏🏾👏🏾. Subscribing for more.
I don't tend to watch reaction channels just because overall we never seem to vibe with the same type of content, BUT I am always searching for people reacting to IH's videos. I loved this one so much, it wasn't just sitting there and watching, it was the genuine reacting that I'm always excited to find. I really hope you do more of his content in the future. 🖤
This is good, very hilarious and fun to watch. 😂😂
