My mum kicked me out as a child, so i was off it years ago, lived on the streets got addicted to drugs, not just a specific drug, just drugs, now im clean working a job people usually go to university for.
The only time my mum ever tries to see me is when she invites me to things where her friends are involved, called her out on it and the fact in 15 years she hasn’t come to visit me once, she’s always tried to make me do the travel when she drives and I’m not allowed to start till next year due to drug use.
It doesn’t bother me at all, because I know I have people who love and care for me, i have people who give me the love my mum never gave me, it’s been like 15 years since I got hit and beat with random objects, I know now if I spoke up as a child, I would have been taken away

yeah man this call to adventure bullcrap is not quite the adventure at all... i feel like jordan just isnt focusing on the poverty stricken , trauma ridden people of the world anymore. ever since his license has been reprimanded from him .

@@brrrzrrkrr3434 I mean what the hell do I know but for the downtrodden, the "call to adventure" could be interpreted as the call to do better/move onto better. Just because you're in poverty or suffering through trauma you aren't bound to that life forever. By a little or a lot, slowly or quickly you can make changes. I applied for a job just because, worst case scenario I get some fresh interview practice. I ended up adding about 10k to my salary 🤷‍♀️

Brilliant analysis of human need for purpose. The Apostle Paul's life is the premier example of facing adversity and overcoming obstacles to obtain the most important of goals; the spreading of the Gospel and the soon coming kingdom of God. But in each biblical storyline are nuggets for us to ruminate and digest as they all have a lesson to teach about the human condition.

I like your analogy but find St Paul to be quite a pompous “ tool “ who I find tough to read. Imagine a boss who constantly berates you , that’s Paul. Mr Peterson provokes your intellect, asks us to be better, and then speaks to our inner conscience. He allows us to make the choice to give his ideas a chance to work. An honest St Paul would agree Jordan does it better. I like your thinking though!

    - The story of Abraham, as discussed in the lecture series on Genesis, portrays him as an archetypal "Failure to Launch" character, an adult living comfortably under his father's care until a transformative spirit challenges him to leave this comfort zone and embark on the adventure of life.
    - This spirit, symbolizing the call to adventure, encourages Abraham to move beyond comfort into a world filled with challenges and hardships. This narrative suggests that human beings are not meant for a life of mere comfort but are driven by a deeper desire for engaging with and overcoming adversity.
    - Abraham's journey, marked by starvation, tyranny, and personal sacrifices, highlights the brutal reality of stepping out of one's comfort zone. Despite the hardships, this path is depicted as more fulfilling because it is an authentic adventure, suggesting that true meaning in life comes from confronting and contending with life's difficulties rather than settling for comfort.
    - The discussion extends beyond the biblical story to critique the concept of a utopian society where all needs are met without effort. It argues that such a vision is flawed because it underestimates the human desire for adventure and the intrinsic satisfaction derived from facing and overcoming challenges.
    - The lecture concludes by asserting the intrinsic worth and dignity of individuals, rooted in their capacity for bravery and the willingness to face life's catastrophes. This notion underpins the value systems of successful cultures, challenging the idea that prosperity comes solely from exploitation and highlighting the importance of recognizing and respecting the human spirit's quest for meaning through adversity.

I love these explanations and contextualisations of biblical stories. For me, it's quite fascinating timing because I became an atheist and then saw jordans exodus series released free, etc. Gave me an understanding of the stories outside of dogma as i was raised into.
Even chrisitians accept that one can not become a christian just like that by being born into it. Many protestants at least require that one goes through some experience(s) or to be born again.
I'm still an atheist, but I think I would like going to a church of my choosing at some future point. With a newfound understanding and cutting off of dogma.

Contentment is not the same as comfort. Paul/Saul said he learned to be content, but it doesn't mean he doesn't have to do anything anymore. It just means, he lived everyday as if it was his last and is content that he did everything he could during his time and anything beyond it is out of his hand, but until then, he will keep on striving.

Abraham: Confront the Challenges of Life Head On
Story: Abraham lives a secure, comfortable life, one that he simply inherited. A spirit calls out to him saying he needs to stop doing this and go out into the world.
Psychological significance of this story is that you're not built for complacent, unearned comfort. You have to step into the adventure of pursuing the challenges that call out to you. If you avoid this, you don't actually remain content. More likely, your empty mind becomes a devil's workshop. You will create havoc just for the sake of something interesting to happen. Or you'll simply shrink, become anxious, and lose all self-confidence, because you know that if you ever needed to, you're not capable of handling life's challenges. If you do confront and overcome your challenges, and your genuine self-confidence and material successes will grow in proportion to the challenges you overcome.

I think people expect success, and realizing that it's actually tough and time-consuming to obtain that success shakes them up. We live in a society where things are instant. Growing up to realize success is not instant, not given runs counter to how many people have been raised to believe.

    Hebrews 10:32-39
"32But recall the former days when, after you were enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings, 33sometimes being publicly exposed to reproach and affliction, and sometimes being partners with those so treated. 34For you had compassion on those in prison, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property, since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one. 35Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. 36For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. 37For,
    “Yet a little while,
    and the coming one will come and will not delay;
38but my righteous one shall live by faith,
    and if he shrinks back,
my soul has no pleasure in him.”
39But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls."
It has been fascinating to listen you, Jordan, and to see you reflect what Scripture has already revealed.

Bring them into the light with the power of The Word, (Asking respectfully), so that they may engage in honest self discovery, if one allows to give consideration, their idea of ideal, isnt ideal to maintain/hold as true. The shadow thrives in ambiguity, give the bad behaviors feedback, do not attack the people with bad behavior too much, scold the behavior taking their poor spirit for the ride of their lives in a negative sense, help a brother/sister out in a cooperative journey of discovery by asking and answering questions, even the ones that hurt, to come to an understanding, instead of a forced settlement.

I don't think you are avoiding responsibility. You're studying, you're taking care of your good health and allow yourself to enjoy and have freedom. That's taking responsibility for yourself. Responsibility is not just work, not just career. It's your whole life.

Jordan is being held hostage by a boy sacrificing a high-resolution experience as a strategy to appear favorable-- by speaking to avoid triggering his father's abhorrence of high resolution. (Rule 5)

    • @Mike_Lennox
      @Mike_Lennox 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

A high-resolution experience of human behavior is the only access to becoming your own competent parent and a conscious adult.
Hence Jordan's vicious circles of low resolution trap his mind in the self-unaware coregulation stages in which he is dependent on exterior sources for his existence and emotional regulation.

I see pathology in general proposition "to face catastrophes of life", do you? I give you a clue, this pathology creates vulnerability to the spirit, as well as puts the spirit at constant continuous risk. Here is an explanation, there are three basic mechanisms facing threat run, fight, freeze, tell me why would one in his right mind choose catastrophes as motivation to move forward. What happened to wishful thinking, seems like a valuable alternative to me. What happened to "look at the path going downhill, because when one is looking for threes to avoid them one sees trees and eventually would end up crashed into the three. It's like using Nazi Germany as a starting point to move forward, at the end Nazi Germany would be worshiped as god whose doctrine would be reflected in every aspect of the voluntarily play, a shadow that is NOT integrated rather put there to scare. Would you challenge that shadow, you said yourself "when everything goes right people will find ways to brake the structure", how, exactly by questioning motives, and the only thing to question is the shadow by becoming the shadow.

So are my seizures that never seem to stop the spirit telling me to go on an adventure. Even though i really didn't have an easy life, i wouldn't call it hard growing up. Now, though, i have 5 minute long seizures every four weeks. Nothing seems to stop them. I wish my adventure would end. im tired of waking up on hospital beds. How is life not a joke? we are a tv show that aliens watch every week. Maybe our season is coming to an end.

Why is this a recurring theme in Jordan Peterson's lectures? Is this a common problem? Are people having this problem also the type to watch lectures and podcasts such as this?

People seek comfort too much especially nowadays, or they think they do. And the main idea behind today's self-improvement advice is the idea of happiness, which roughly means "contentment with what is", instead of seeking what could be. Jordan Peterson thinks it's the wrong conclusion, and one of the spirits (mode of being) of God in the Biblical stories is the one that calls you to adventure. All spirits make a meta-spirit, which is what God is. It's a personality, a mode of being, that art, stories, religions & mythologies are attempting to articulate. That articulation has emerged over thousands of years in this form, so Peterson believes it to be deepest argument on what we should imitate.

They believe Jesus, but not God:
Jesus said, “he that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life” (John 5:24). Those who don't believe Jesus came from God will certainly die in their sins. Jesus has said the Father has sent him numerous times, but most people think they can worship one without the other, which will be their downfall without repentance. Jesus said “he that honors not the Son, honors not the Father, which has sent him” (John 5:23). Jesus is saying all who reject his words, which belong to God, dishonors them both and will be cast into outer darkness; where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 8:12). Going against one is going against the other because they are one in agreement in all things (John 10:30). Repent, and God will forgive.

JP, you're too rich to understand the common person anymore. I challenge you to take me on! There's no advice you could give to figure out the situation I've ended up in, I started a business when I was 12, I'm almost 40, still have the business but it hasn't made me enough money, I'm now living back at home, I have no debt, I have assets and precious metals and investments but everything has been devalued because of Trudeau.
I don't sit on my ass, I work hard everyday and get pushed over at every good opportunity or get ripped off or some low life's find a way to cause hardships...
I'm left with almost no options anymore but to start hurting people that mess with me, being legit is just not working, everything around me is corrupt and evil but atleast they get paid right.
Take the conversation as I'm out of options and might just go on a spree of bad decisions or turn all my networth into a new criminal organization.
    I await your response.

    I would say this.
I know God is real because the angel I saw and received the purest love out of he’s voice commanded me that I must tell humans what I saw 👀, God is real and we fight with our purpose in this beautiful but dangerous world 🌎, a place that If you are got slipping it could cause you heaven or Hell on earth is your choice really depends upon your own perspective, to this I say wake up and pray 🤲 go to sleep and pray 🤲 ask for protection or for knowledge and understanding with it perhaps you gain wisdom 🤷🏽‍♂️
