Fastest Crochet Beanie EVER! Perfect Unisex Beanie Pattern

  • I've dubbed this crochet hat pattern the "Speedy Beanie" because it works up in a flash! I can whip one up in 25 minutes flat from start to finish, making it the perfect craft fair prep item. This crochet beanie only require 70-75 yards of any super bulky weight yarn, making it a more profitable inventory prep item. It looks great on both men and women, making it a perfect unisex beanie as well.
    The stitches used in this hat pattern are the most basic, beginner level stitches; however, because there is some turning involved, deliberate hook placement, and special joins to help hide the seam in the back, this is a more advanced beginner level hat. If you are a confident beginner, don't let that stop you! I show you in great depth how to make this hat.
    If you prefer the written version of patterns, I do offer this pattern for free on my blog here: daysck.com/cro...

    If anyone wants to use #4 i weight yarn, I used a 6.5 hook, 2 strands together. I increased until 48 stitches. I then did 2 repeats of Hdc Flo, Hdc Blo, DC 3rd loop. On the third final repeat I did Hdc Flo, Hdc Blo, and then Hdc ( not DC) 3rd loop. For brim I did two rounds of sc Blo. My beanie measures exactly 9 inches total. I have a ton of medium yarn so trying to use that up!

    I love the colors of your hat. I was anxious to make this but only have 4ply yarn and 2 strands was to much. I made it with 4 ply added extra stitches to make up till i got the right measurements. I really love this texture and it feels great on. Its actually a very fun pattern to work also. I will go yarn shopping to see what i can find to play with. This is definitely a keeper and will please many

    • @DaysCrochet

      This hat should fit that circumference and you would just repeat the stitch pattern rows til you get 12 inches. If you're still coming up too small, you're probably crocheting more tightly than me and could go up a hook size.

      The only 2 things I can think of the problem being are: wrong yarn used or extremely tight tension. If your yarn isn't a super bulky weight size 6 yarn, it would automatically be smaller. If your measurements do not match mine, you are crocheting more tightly than I am and you need to go up several hook sizes from the sounds of it.

    I used the exact same yarn and the exact same hook and still came out to only about 6 inches in diameter after the 3rd round :/ Does that seem to mean my stitches are too tight? I don’t have time to find a different hook as the craft stores are fresh out and I need a gift done quick. Should I restart and just try to do a looser stitch?

      Okay answered my own question! I ended up going back and restarting with a waaay looser stitch than I would normally do and ended up with a 7 inch diameter :) Guess I keep it pretty tight normally.

    Not sure how to modify the pattern? I only crochet amigurumi! 😂

      I have a quick video tutorial on how to make a beanie by measurements. It will make more sense when you measure the diameter I give after Round 3 in the Speedy Beanie video. I recommend watching this tutorial and then watching the Speedy Beanie to understand how to adjust for your hubby's head:

  • @oana1111
    @oana1111 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I got to half the hat before I realized it's waaaay too slim. First, it won't fit even my 8 yrs old's head without completely squishing her hair and second, there goes any hope of making an insulating inner layer. And the measurement is as specified, 7.5 inches wide. I guess I'll have to undo everything and start again with more stitches 😢

    • @DaysCrochet
      @DaysCrochet  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My only guess is that you are crocheting more tightly as you go along. My finished hat could fit a very large head. I'm sorry! I would go up a hook size or 2.

      I made this hat for my 1 year old using 100% acrylic yarn (I Love This Yarn brand). It turned out perfect! You'll have to adjust according to the size you need hat you need - hook size, the crown and length, but it's very doable and easy.

    I really like the pattern. Is this an adult M or L/XL? I find that with this yarn I need a little more of another skein. I’m assuming this is a smaller adult size.

    • @DaysCrochet
      @DaysCrochet  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It actually fits a wide variety of heads due to using the various loops instead of stitching into the tops of the stitches as you normally do. It fits my head loosely, and my head is very small (I have to buy kids glasses😂). But it also fit people who claimed to have large heads at my market this past Saturday. So I think it's very versatile when it comes to size. I hope this helps!

      @@DaysCrochet thank you for explaining. I will make this exactly as you did so I can see. If I have to make adjustments then I will. I just notice many patterns from videos do not fit for some of the people I made hats for. Even myself 😆 I have to make it larger.
