- Hit songwriter Sandy Knox wrote this song, "We Are Houston," as a way to give back to her hometown in their time of need. 100% of all proceeds go to families affected by the Houston flood of 2017. It was an honor to sing alongside the legendary BJ Thomas, as well as many other country music icons.
B.J. Thomas is one of a very few great vocalists who never lost his voice with age.
My all time favorite singer.No one sounds like Jim.Ehat a voice.We miss you B.J.
I have loved bj thomas since I was a teenager. He has a voice that sounds like no one else. With having lung cancer it never affected his voice and the world lost a wonderful man and I will continue to play his music. May god bless him and his family.

Man........as a local longtime Houstonian , I have to say I didn't know about this song. Just stumbled on it here. Thank you @!McKenna for posting. Glad I did find it .....thanks to BJ (RIP) and the other artists who came to help and lend their voices. We are appreciative, and I miss BJ. Most memorable voice I've heard.

I'm not from Houston but this song makes me wish I was!!! B J voice was so beautiful. I can't say I miss him because I play his music often. the melody background singers and of course BJ make this one of the best songs he did. RIP BJ. ongoing prayers for his family. if anyone ever made it to Heaven BJ surely did.
