- Huge tear down, disassembly, and rebuild upgrade in search of the highest sound quality for this disappointing off the shelf bluetooth boombox! The victim is the Bumpboxx Ultra Plus that exhibited some crappy ear splitting midrange with no reasonable bass and treble. Maybe the remote control, hand held microphone, and LED lights were supposed to make up for the lack of sound quality???? LOL
Easy to tear down thru both backside passive radiator and side control panel. The only quality part re-used was the LiFePO4 4000mAhr battery pack with built in BMS board. The 15V 3A charger died after about 4 charge cycles. Just bought a cheap same spec replacement charger on Amazon $11.
All internal crevices were hot glue filled for enclosure re-inforcement and all external components sealed with Black Tack for air tight seal. Used my all time favorite all in one board: Wondom JAB4 in 4.0 configuration utilizing Sigma Studio for programming the onboard DSP ADAU1701 chip with features like: external volume loudness, bass/treble knobs, Dynamic Bass Enhancement (60Hz), SuperPhat spatializer for wider sound stage, and equalization with free RTA app for iPhone. Resulting in a very portable, long playing, excellent sounding modern boombox for anytime play indoors and outdoors (pickleball courts)!!!
