I have taught myself how to sew over the past 20 years. I want to tell you that you are the best TH-camr I've seen in describing and showing how things are put together. You are very easily understood, and you make the crafts very easy to do. I will make some of these for my new office, to hold pens; then I'll make a very small one to hold paper clips!!
I just learned something the other day and I noticed you have one. It is called a leveling presser foot. See the little black button at the left back of your presser foot? The easiest thing to do (what I did) is to search leveling presser foot on TH-cam. I noticed it when you put the extra material behind to lift the foot. This prevents you from having to do that. Another fantastic video that I look forward to watching everyday. I enjoy you talking thru the video instead of the crazy music on some. I turn the volume down on those. Thanks again -- love you❤
Amazing. You remind me of my grandmother, who could look at a dress, go home cut a pattern out of brown grocery bags and sew one just like the dress she had just seen. I regret that I never took the time to learn how she did it. Thank you for sharing your extraordinary skill.
So sweet of you,, yes, we all have that problem, my mom cooked so well and one dish she made I wish I learn from her when she still here with us, but now whenever I see someone making that dish, it reminds me of my lovely mom,, Sending love to you and your family Please take care Vivian
My mom would take me to the mall before school,started..then ask me to show her what l liked re clothes for myself..then we would buy fabric..home for her to sew copies of the clothing l picked..no patterns..beautiful results..my clothes always received oodles of complements..
Your grandmother had a natural ability to see how the shapes will form up. We can learn that to a degree as adults. Mine was a whiz with darts and pleats for fitting. Me, not so much. I’m a quilter, not a garment fitter. I do better in 2D, not 3D. We all have our strong points.
That bag is also perfect to put in your car for trash. You would just have to make the hangar longer to fit over the stick shift. Great project and good instructions. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your kindness comment Dawn.! My pleasure to have you here as part of my family sending love to you and your family Please be safe Vivian
Hello Vivian, this is such a cute little idea. As always beautiful fabric, you have great taste. Thank you for sharing this lovely project. I want to wish you and your family a very happy and healthy new year, maybe you can relax just a little bit? You are so busy I don’t know how you do it between the TH-cam, your family, and your health, and your lovely person and I’m glad to have met you. Love to you and your family, love you angel
You are very busy! Beautiful fabric. Sunny, clear and 42 here in Covington, Washington today. I can make for everyone's vehicle. Great idea! Can match to sewing room too. Stay safe and healthy. Love you, Vivian.
Thank you for your kindness Cathie. We had rain all day yesterday and all day snow day today, luckily the weather is not too cold for the snow to stick on the ground. Love you Please take care Vivian
This is so cute and I can think of hundreds of uses. I will make one for my sewing machine first and then one for my car. I bet my granddaughter would like one for her hair clips too! Thank you thank, another cute gift for my sewing friends too!
Great idea. I’m going to make a larger one to hang on my husbands gear shift. We can put a plastic bag in it, or use a vinyl liner, and use this a trash can. Thank you for sharing.
I made a thread catcher using the plastic strapping that is around boxes, such as copy paper, to keep the opening from closing. I lined it with a plastic bag so the threads don’t stick when emptying. In addition, I sewed a strip of fabric to the top with a bag of weights (sand, whatever) attached, which went under the machine to keep it from moving around. I like the design of yours, and will make it using the😊 weights. I just wish I had that fabric. Thanks for showing us how to put it together. That method of sewing the lining to the bag is great.
Great video. Lots of detail. Like the trick where you stitch the bottom seams together before turning out to hold the lining to the main fabric. Thank you.
Thank you! I learned something very helpful in your video that I have never seen done before. You sewed the box corners together which holds the lining down. Great idea!!!
I’ve put small paper and plastic bags next to my machine, I just have to give this a try. I don’t mind recycling, but this would be a much prettier option. Thank you for sharing, have a wonderful day.
Welcome back! I always have sewing machine but during Covid-19 I decided not to do on sewing machine because a lot of people don’t have a sewing machine. And during that time nobody can purchase anything since most store ran out of sewing machine Thank you for coming back. I am so happy to see you again Please take care Vivian
This would be so nice as a trashcan for the car! Once again, gorgeous matching of fabric! You have so much energy, I can't imagine cooking all day, and then making a video! You are awesome, super woman! ♥♥♥♥♥ Take care of yourself, my girl!
Gloria, if I don’t get busy, I will be bored to dead… that’s why God gave me the twin LOL 😂. I will be uploaded cooking videos soon in my second channel tomorrow on Love you Vivian
A very useful item. Could be sized up to organize a bathroom or down to keep small pieces handy. Great for the sewing table, better than the bag taped there now.
I like it! I read through the comments and there are lots of good ideas on how useful this bag can be. I really like the lower edge in the front. The fabric as always was beautiful! You as always are beautiful and I thoroughly enjoy listening to you. You teach very well. You should always be proud of yourself every day for all you do! Don’t forget to take time for yourself. Take care my friend! Love you, Lisa
Hi Vivian, That is a very useful item to collect all your sewing cotton etc. I have always like that fabric you have used on this. Really cold and in places we have had snow and ice. Made another bag for my other granddaughter. Love as always. From Andrea xxxxxxxx
Andrea, please take a good care of yourself. Last week I had chest pain so bad that I can’t even do anything. I prayed and meditation helps me through, I am taking easy now I upload videos every other day.. I feel a lot better now. It’s cold here and snow all day today but not too cold for the snow to stick to the ground.. all melted.. this Sunday we will be going to my dad’s house for the lunar new year 🧧 Love you Vivian

Thank you Vivian. You are such an excellent teacher. I’m going to make these for my friends. I watched your cooking channel too and made the Korean Beef and Sweet Potato noodles. Excellent dish!!! Thanks! Now I need to know how to make Spring Rolls with the spring roll wrappers. I make the Salad Rolls all the time..
I enjoy each & everything you do & share. You are so patient & clear along each step: you are a wonderful teacher. Thank you over & over - again & again❣️
Love these. Like an *assembly line,* I made three out of black/white (six fabrics), contrasting positive/nagative for my sweet "mommy of two boys" next door (this morning, couldn't sleep). She loves them. I thought she could use them in her bathroom for make-up and product storage. She said she just purchased some small plants and is using the three contrasting small baskets to hang them on her wall. She said she bought the plants, wanted to hang them on her wall near a window and had no idea how she was going to do it (and couldn't believe it when she found them at her door this morning)! Thank you. I'll be making more!
As a lifelong needleworker, I'm very impressed with your attention to detail and clear instructions, far better than any school needlework teachers I had back in the 70's, this is a both beautiful and useful item, just subscribed from Wales UK.
Glad it was helpful Catherine, this is the way I learned from my lovely mother, she is no longer with us but always in my heart, I know she looks down and smile when kindness people write nice comments about me, that mean she did something right Sending love to you and your family from USA Please take care Vivian
Wow, I feel I learn a lot just from seeing your highly efficient workflow. I am just started sewing and slwowly learning the value of the basic skills.
Excellent tip about having the needle down in the fabric to continue sewing the top stitch so the sew line stays straight and even. Thanks for sharing! Always a pleasure to see what new item you are making and to see if I can do it too! 👍👍
Dianne, you can do it all and even better than you thought. I just a basic sewer and I can do it, I made so many mistakes when I learned sewing and I like to share whatever my mom taught me and I learned from her. She will look down and smile to see me be able to share what I learned with you all Love you Vivian
My mom taught me to tape or pin a small brown bag to the table just to the right of the sewing machine to toss the scraps and thread tails into. This is much nicer!
Very cute! I made a thread catcher from a pattern I bought.....yikes it was a pain to make. I was going to make a few for girlfriends but pattern was such a pain I decided not to make only one for myself. Your is simple, cute and very useful. Thanks so much Vivian for another good tutorial. 🧵🪡
You gave awesome instructions. What a wonderful and useful project! Thank you for the pressure foot tip. I don't know why I never thought of that before.
This was really incredible! I’m getting back to sewing, after some 40 years ago, to keep me busy. I had to stop working due to disability. I’ve watched so many people for ideas for DIY without patterns 😂, it’s really been that long. I have one spool of thread that isn’t that old. This is such a great project including great tips for so many other projects. You are also a great “teacher”, so easy to follow. I’m looking forward to seeing other ideas that you’ve posted.
Aww Leila, such a sweet comment you sent to me, I am reading it and feel so special, you are so kind. I loved sharing whatever I know and learned from my lovely mom, I am sure she looks and guide me to success. I am still learning though and I wish my mom still around to teach me.. sending love to you and your family Love you Vivian
Thank You for sharing this, I Love It. Thank you for the tip about sewing the corners together, very clever, Thank you also for the tip of how to sew across the thicker area. I always enjoy your videos.
I haven't made the basket yet, but I will. I've been making glasses cases, and I decided to try sewing the ends together before turning right side out, I just had to Thank you for that brilliant tip, it works great, and makes the lining look so much better. Thank You again, you are a genius.
Beautiful fabric but your skills are the best! Everyday I am amazed at the new projects you come up with! Your videos are so well thought out and easy to follow. Admire you so much Vivian.

Great project. The instructions were very easy to follow. Beautiful job. Thank you for this project. Looking forward to the next project. Happy sewing!!!
I watched your video thinking I would have to turn down the volume as many sewing videos I have watched do not explain what they are sewing and just have music. I loved your instructions. Thank you for sharing your talent!
I love this as a thread catcher! And a small trash can for the car!! I think I need to make 2 for the car. 😊 Vivian, you always have the best ideas! You are a gentle teacher, explaining everything. Thank you dear Friend. Stay Safe. Love you! ❤ ~Linda

Also like the idea of using scrap to lift the presser foot before sewing over thicker intersection where hang tab is .
Great idea. Very useful, I can use it for car trash bag. Love you sister 🌺🌺🌺
Thanks a lot sister 😊

I watched your video thinking I would have to turn down the volume as many sewing videos I have watched do not explain what they are sewing and just have music. I loved your instructions. Thank you for sharing your talent!
