Great expressive dance as always. The music, touching, was actually originally for a bank commercial to appeal to newlyweds. Written by a strange little actor/musician, Paul Williams, who also wrote the Love Boat theme song. Watching him in film it's hard to believe he could write something that brings out such expression in music and dance. These girls are perfect to highlight everything they do.
Fabulous! Another Flick Colby masterpiece of creation. Wonderful to get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of a work in progress. And the perfect tune...I was still 8 years old at the time, and in a way my life had....only just begun..you might say (sorry! but true). The early 70's were of course an economic and social wasteland, full of inequality, prejudice and oppression. Yet at the same time could generate wonderful moments like this. I wonder if those girls had any inkling of how perfect they were on these occasions? Please, someone, invent a time machine...and a true anti-ageing formula!
Music and beautiful dancers from a lifetime ago. Exquisite music and the finest performances. The lovely ladies made the music more enjoyable, and no one was as meticulous about her dancing than Ruth. Hard to believe 4 of these princesses are gone. But I am sure if there is a heaven I will see my dancing queen dance again one day.
Love the dresses! 💕 This dance really fits the song, of the wonderful Karen Carpenter. I was a junior in HS, in 71, what times those were, so cool and promising of a better world. Ruth is mesmerizing 💃
These dresses are just so feminine. I clearly remember girls wearing frocks like these during daytime shopping, leisure or parties, sometimes with a hint of patchouli. Wonderful.
The Pan's People dancers, by color/colour of the bodice (dress top) - dancers' "usual" color noted by ** : Louise Clarke (green) ** Barbara "Babs" Lord (blue - light skirt) ** Ruth Pearson (yellow) ** Felicity "Flick" Colby (red - dark skirt) Patricia "Dee Dee" Wilde (burgundy - light skirt) Andrea "Andi" Rutherford (purple - dark skirt) I show the skirt shade if there is another dress close +/- to the same color.
This line up was a Rolls Royce and with all due respect to those who followed, everything else was a Mercedes - very good but not quite the same thing.
It's extremely hard to imagine that just the errors that were made weren't 100 fold considering the amount of time Flick had to arrange the routine and then practice enough in a few hours to taping. Beautiful talent. Rarely seen nowadays.
Me gusta ver bailar a estas chicas, encontré esto por casualidad, algunas coreografías son buenas. Me molesta que la cámara enfoque sólo a algunas y la mejor de todas que es Ruth, la dejan por atrás, que mal.
WE WILL NEVER SEE THE LIKES OF THESE LADIES AGAIN WHAT A PRIVILEGE TO SEE TRUE PROFESSIONAL ANGELS. 👍 THEY WERE THE TOP OF THE POPS WITH OUT A QUESTION.
Really impressed with Andi Rutherford’s performance and a beautiful routine but Flick looks offbeat which is out of character for her. Wish I could have been there watching this - Looks very much like a rehearsal before the real deal.
Could have been mental fatigue. She carried a heavy load. She worked with choreography, cameras, costumes and managed the group. How she lasted so long without throwing in the towel is beyond me.
This is unauthorized Karen Carpenter. Little did the group realize that Karen was a key dance financier and secretly a dancer in the group . She did not need to pay them to promote this song and they did it behind her back. She caught them doing unauthorized production. That is why there's a gap in the tape . She was shot several times in the head and back.
BUT THE 60S WAS A MAGICAL TIME WHEN THESE LADIES STARTED THERE ART THE MUSIC WAS SOMETHING TO BEHOLD I WAS GLAD TO LIVED THROUGH IT. AND EARLY 70S IT FOLLOWED ON WITH GREAT SOUNDS.
Pretty girls, outfits so fitting of 71, long happy summers, blissful music like this...we had it all back then.
Wasn't the Vietnam War in its prime?
@@darlingjessie9965: Sadly, somewhere around the world, there’ll be some countries at war, at any given time.
We had less back then. Less aches and pains. 🤔Less is more, so you're correct.
I am 55 now, and I agree with you 100%. I am Canadian, but clearly the BBC is just as cool as our amazing CBC😅.
Sweet Flick in the red dress. Awesome, as always.
So nice to see Andi showcased at the beginning.
The charming imperfections make this so human and enjoyable.

Beautiful and graceful dance, so great to see andi as lead dancer, she was a stunning lady

The culture was magnificent to compensate for the inequality in society in the UK.
💯!

Ruth por siempre bella y talentosa estoy seguro que alla la verás 😿💃👍
Really interesting choreography. Well put together.
Total Beatifull and original gracefull womas from 70`s . Lovely and originals good times ! Charpetes as well !

Used to wear maxi dress like those! Loved PP so much IN fact I wanted to be one!

So did I!
Your name is fitting for the job
I love early 70s maxi dresses. I think Ruth's is particularly beautiful. Yellow ochre suits her so well.
Graceful interpretation of this beautiful song, love it! :)
Ahhh the 70s, when I had the time of my life. Young free and single. Not a care in the word. Now I’m a pensioner...........what happened!!!
You got old!
@@SpookyElectric319 I agree 100%!
You ask "What happened?" Today it's only a date on calendar. And what a date in your soul?😀
GORGEOUS❤️❤️❤️

My favourite Louise always seemed to wear green.
@@Bradford1able: They all had a colour of choice, for a time at least. Dee Dee has said hers was red, Babs blue, Ruth yellow etc, as listed above.
@@donquixote3927 thanks, sad to think some are gone now. To see such lovely, energetic, vibrant young women was a treat.
I@@Bradford1able I think Louise wore green a lot to bring out her beautiful green eyes!
Lovely Tune & Dance
Lovely dresses. Not the easiest song to dance to.
Both Babs and Flick are having a hard time with this number!
THEY WERE THE GOOD OLD DAYS. PANS PEOPLE WHAT GORGEOUS DANCERS
Miss these days
The greatest female artist ever

Exquisite. Why aren't they still around??
Very sadly Andi has passed away too only Babs and Dee Dee left from the original group!
One of the best Karen Carpenter and a fine accompanying music video as well🙂👍
Louise Clarke❤️❤️❤️❤️RIP😞
Oh yes. BEAUTIFUL Louise. She was so incredibly stunning!
Louise was stunning beautiful eyes gorgeous and very sexy!
She certainly was lovely I agree. Couldn't help but admire her. All grace and poise.

Aber wir werden sie nie vergessen .
Sie gehören für immer dazu !!!
@@Stranski I can't understand your language what you are saying.
Poor old Babs. The big blonde un's had a bit of a mare.
I think this is why Ruth gets PISSED off.
Babs married Jesus
Countess of Groan Babs was a lovely girl, but I always felt she was a bit stiff
She was the most beautiful

Even the 2nd time it wasn't perfect.

Damn not funny she was a great person and singer
What? What kind of medication u on.?? Get help
What are you on about? Karen Carpenter had an amazing voice and was a beautiful woman who died very tragically far too young!
What a bizarre comment.
Ah . . . when women, were women . . . . . not just men wearing dresses!
