I just paused this and watched the big short then came back, and wow I need a day or two to process that movie, so very good... or so very bad its not a movie to make you happy, yet is a movie that is absolutely worth watching.
The Big Short was a fantastic movie but it stopped short of explaining the original root cause of the mortgage crisis which were politicians pushing the banks into selling high risk mortgage in order to have everyone own a home. It's similar to the social engineering being done on young people where everyone should get a college education which results in massive loans, higher tuition, and more debt. The fact is that not everyone should own a home or have a college education and the government should not be subsidizing or coercing people to have both.
It's nothing short of wonderful to realize that in this one way I'm ahead of Adam. I haven't seen Spotlight or The Big Short for the simple reason that I don't go to movie theaters anymore. I probably see more movies than any of you however because I have a Home Theater. I don't have a Tesla or a friend like Norm who has one but I do have a nine foot screen and a projector. Surely this is the future or maybe a similar sized flat screen. When I lived in San Francisco I often went to the Portola theater but that seems so old fashion nowadays. Home Theater is like Peking Duck. In China Peking Duck is a restaurant dish because the average Chinese family doesn't have an oven. In America the average family had to go out to see a projected screen. All that's changed. I enjoy looking at Adam's house but it seems a little retro without a Home Theater.
I think Steve Carell just played Michael Scott.. Even in Foxcatcher, he plays Scott, just more quiet and with a larger nose.. I mean! HE'S GOOD IN IT! But i'm not sure he steals any scenes that Ryan Gosling are in.
Just as a note, from a demographer's standpoint there are two generational groups: Baby boomers and everyone else. Boomers were singled out because after the war their were a lot of babies made (go figure) and there was an appreciable increase in the number of births during a very specific time period. That's why they get a generational signifier and no one else does. Because humans don't normally birth in waves (like locusts) so generations on a population-scale don't usually exist. Plus I just violently dislike how people tend to use "millennial" as a catch-all insult for "those dang kids these days". Not saying you guys are doing that but... Worth remembering.
Guys...guys, why must you talk so fast? You do have interesting point to make, don't spoil it by talking over each other or rushing trough a lot of dialog, for dialog's sake.
