Also it is not kid friendly. our corporate policy is to not admit children under the age of 6. my theater lowered the age to 3. also we do a themed monthly schedule. this month is miyazaki. Last month when this was probably recorded was tarantino themed. My theater runs these one night special re releases after 7 pm in most cases. and always during the week. we also do audience participation and quote alongs. just a few days ago we ran a Zoolander quote along for example. :D Its an awesome place to work for any movie lover. :D
Although I agree that all the performances were good, I really thought Kurt Russell dominated every scene he was in. This might be my favorite Kurt Russell performance ever.

Jennifer Jason Leigh's reaction in the movie is totally her reaction and not the characters reaction. This is her realizing they just destroyed the real deal. She see it and immediately looks to the director or crew in horror.

There is nothing that is gratuitously/cartoonishly violent in Jackie Brown.
Hateful Eight is my favorite movie from last year. I loved Kurt Russel, and that dude that looks like Bill Paxton. Even saw it in 70mm in Irvine and got the neat little booklet with Daisy as a centerfold. Fucking brilliant film.

Haven't seen The Hateful Eight, but I did recently see Russell in Bone Tomahawk and he was great in it. But he didn't stand out because the movie was great and every character in it was perfectly cast and brilliantly portrayed with equally great actors.

I love that people are getting more exposed to the Alamo. I'm from Austin, so I've been going to the Alamo since there was just the single screen theater downtown. I've tried to explain to people from other places why it's my favorite place, and I almost never go to another theater. Usually, I have a hard time getting across how different an experience it is. One thing I've not heard y'all talk about are the pre-movie clips they show instead of the commercials that every other theater plays. For me, the pre-movie clips are one of the best parts of the experience. They have also been hosting local comedians doing live MST3K style shows on major Hollywood movies since at least 2000. Their wide variety of presentation styles (live shows, sing-a-longs, quote-a-longs, themed feasts, rolling roadshows, etc) are a testament to just how much they love film.
tarantino wanted famous film composer Ennio Morricone (the the good the bad the ugly etc) to score the hateful eight, but he didnt have time so Ennio suggested using an un-used theme from john carpenter's the thing instead.
Norm: Tarantino has been on record saying that he would really like to turn Hateful Eight into a stage production. How likely is it that it'll happen? I don't know but i think he's serious enough to really entertain the idea.
If no one has recommended it yet, I defiitely recommend reading The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet, by Becky Chambers. I lovely sci-fi space opera which was kickstarted last year.
As for the flickering lightsabers in slow motion: Probably won't be flickery as it should just be a DC supply from the LiPos, so it shouldn't have the 60 Hz flicker like normal wall wart lights.
I would like to know what board is on the table! I'd also like to know that its in fact genuine and not a construct, because tubes are getting rare and should be preserved - especially the VHF tubes which can be implemented really well in modern audio circuits ;)

In Fort Worth, TX they have the Movie Tavern that has the same recliners and food. What's really funny is that they have a commercial before the movie about the theater that has a man with his young daughter. She is eating a banana split and he has a large beer. I was thinking that I hope she has her license because he won't be able to drive after that beer...hehe
The most beautifull thing in this movie are the countless metaphores. The whole movie is a depiction of past and modern day u.s. Social/ Political Issues. Death Peanalty, Gun Posesion, Racism/human rights movements, the structure of the judicial system, the civil war. For exempel i did not have a clue what the relationship of the mexicans was with the indians during the colonialisation of North America. This film tells this story albeit metaphoricly. So i checked up on the history and yess found what i expected to find based on the hidden methaphore inside the hatefull eight. the movie hints to mexicans arguing that they have the right to live in Northern America because they argue that they lived there before the colonialisation in harmony with the indians. The movie tells this story (hidden metaphore) so i checked if there are in fact mexicans that have made this argument and i found out that this is indeed the case. Watch the monologues closely and youll see the deeper meaning !

I get it's supposed to be ominous and you don't know who's making up what, but I felt some of the twists were lazily executed. My biggest problem (which many may have missed) is Major Warren tells Bob that Minnie had a sign that said "no mexicans" , then in the flashback when Bob came in, Minnie said nothing about not wanting Bob in her shop or about the sign. Also the fact that these bounty hunters don't recognize any of these high-ranking members of the infamous "Do-Min-Grey Gang" throughout the whole film and then at the end go, "oh yea" made me feel this wasn't completely thought through. An okay film, but disappointing from what i expect from Tarantino.

Personally The Hateful 8 is definitely my favourite Tarantino flick and the 70mm style was breathtakingly beautiful.

alamo drafthouse is the best. sundance is fancy nice and all (went to the Kabuki location on vacation), but nothing beats Alamo!
