Looked around for a video like this. THIS VIDEO IS SPOT ON. I have a 2002 Toyota Camry XLE V6. This is exactly what I needed to watch. Albeit, some of the Camry work was a tad fast, and you can tell you have done a hundred fo these as you talked really fast, but all the same, after watching this video a couple times, I got the jist and am ready to tackle the project. Thank You again!
Thanks again for the video, I just replaced the alternator in my daughter's Camry using your video, it was right on! It saved me $125.00, labor + markup. God bless...
Thanks for the video! My alternator died last night as I got it on the uhaul dolly for my out of state move and I've been freaking out about finding a mechanic here, this is very clear and helpful! I'll be changing mine out later :)
Thank you for this video. Looks simple and straight to the point. Gathering up the parts and tools and I will attempt to replace my alternator on 2006 Toyota Solara SEV6.
Appreciate you showing how the adjuster works. Toyota rocks. I come from ls400s and I work on my own stuff, so it’s nice to see this car I just got is actually easy to work on.
Thank you for this great video! In case anyone snaps the tensioner bolt like I did, Dorman 917-148 Idler Pulley Adjuster Bolt Kit was an exact fit for my 2006 Camry 1MZ 3.0 V6.
You saved my father-in-law hundreds of dollars in labor. People, if you're reading this, support this dude and dudes like him. If you can, give them a small portion of the money they saved you on repairs.
By far the best vid on this task. Others left out important details. This was direct and to the point with no bs! So appreciated! I have just successfully replaced my first alternator all by myself! Now.. any tips on how to get all this car funk off of my hands!?
Great video…..I note that the whinning goes went away removed and replaced the plug wire. Now only if I press on the plug wire to alternator does the whinning return. And actually there is no longer a whinning noise. Is this an early sign of diode/alternator failure and it would be best to replace one or both or was it a fluke and I should ignore unless it returns? Total mileage on 2007 Solara is 57,000miles.
How to Automotive Your welcome! The A/C hose had me abit worried. I had an 89 Ford Probe GT and you had to unbolt the exhaust and a couple of hangers to get the alternator out from the bottom and it still took alot of manipulating to get it out. I'm quite abit older and less flexible these days 😓
THANK YOU. i still haven't got mine apart. Less room to work in 2000. Need shallow for "little square tensioner block" bolt. However, I can access longer tensioner bolt with straight extension and deep 12mm socket. Also, on my 2000 Solara, that hidden bolt for the "little square tensioner block" is 13mm socket. I tried 12 mm, but no. Now where's my 13mm shallow? Lost from the last time I moved. Time to go shopping.
Brian, During the replacement of my alternator the wire connector disintegrated and I now need to hook up a new connector. Do you happen to know what wire color goes where in the connector?
What is the exact size and dimension of the pivot bolt?? Mine was snapped in half at the threads by the previous owner. I can’t find this info anywhere! I purchased the recommended M10-1.5 105 mm from online but the threading is incorrect. Please help!
Dane Furslew i’m not sure with the thread size in both sizes. I will contact your Toyota dealer parts department. They probably have the bolt in stock. My guess is if it’s not a 1.50 then it would be a 1.25 thread pitch.
Im still squealing 😩 im not sure if im even tightening it or just overworking myself.. trouble finding the stuff exact spot specifically on 2005 Toyota camry v6.. helllppp also now my AC light is flashing along w the loud squeal.. im in south Louisiana. If I screw up my ac, im really screwed
looks like more job then i thought lol 06 camry 300 k original alternator went to autozone test showed bad voltage regulator .I got no symptoms light flashing nothing starts good so should i bother changing it I'm only gonna keep car another year Is there sympotps before alterntor goes out or is it like out like a swithc
3 hours later how did I do lol, would’ve taken me half an hour if it wasn’t such a pain to get it where the mount bolt was and to line it up with the adjustment bracket. Saved me $300 though
I hate the fact my husband makes this look so easy! I can do it myself but it takes forever and I question myself every step of the way. My Suburban alternator was so much easier!
A "wobble" socket. From an Amazon description... "This wobble extension set is designed to “wobble” when in contact with the socket providing enough flex to get a firm grip."
I just have one request. Can you please start teaching other TH-cam channels how to make a good video without a ton of rambling or filler. This is the way instructional videos should be.

Thank you so much this made the job easier. I looked for this exact set up which is just like mine, so you helped me tons. Have a wonderful day! :)

Just replaced my friend’s alternator in her ‘01 Solara and saved her a few hundred bucks or whatever mechanics charge. Thanks, man!

I had that whining noise before my alternator died. I was worried it was my transmission, but was the alternator for sure.
Thank you very much, saved me $175.00 in labor alone!
Randy W. Brown nice always glad to hear people are saving money. Thank you for watching!

Nice video! There is so much room when alternator is gone. I assume a/c compressor can also be pulled out this way.
Hi, what i want to know is , really, how long did it take to actually get the alternator from between those hoses and things
Brian, great video ... helped a lot with replacement.
Mohammed Khan Glad the video was helpful. Thank you for watching!

Hang on... my belts... sounds like im reliving Silence of the Lambs... do u think I need to tighten more? Would that stop the squeal?
Crystal Aucoin that’s what it sounds like. Tighten it up a little bit and it should stop making noise.
Very helpful, thanks.
Thank you for the video.. it helped me..
anyone know what part number for a belt would be? thanks!
Thanks for your video! God bless...
Dallas Beus thank you!

Thank you for watching!
Remove radiator top hose for better access
Thanks for a great video !!!
Thank you for watching!
Thank you for this 🙏🏾😀👍🏼
How about the A/C belt? Mine is squealing when first turned on for about 20 seconds then it's ok. But I know it's going to get worse.
had the same problem on my 05 solara. if you tighten up the bolt he used the long extension for, it will stop squealing.
Kevin michaels ok thanks Kevin!
Thanks
Hi I don’t have a bolt for my tensioner how do I adjust it... 1999 Toyota Camry le 3.0l
Sounds like it’s missing. You have two choices you can order a new adjuster with the bolt or try praying it tight with a prybar.
I have the same issue with my 2004 solara.
Crystal Aucoin possible the belt is Miss route it.And AC compressor is not turning
How to Automotive then im possibly screwed. 😢
Crystal, check out (Chris Fix) video named (Shop “squeaky belt”) pretty informative and may help you.

this be same as removing a Toyota rav4 2003 alt?
Is the alternator on top are bottom
It on top. Right next to the dipstick
3 hours later how did I do lol, would’ve taken me half an hour if it wasn’t such a pain to get it where the mount bolt was and to line it up with the adjustment bracket. Saved me $300 though
Glad the video helped you save $300 that’s awesome! Thank you for watching!

This one is a pain. You got this! Thank you for watching!
@@HowtoAutomotive Thank you! I got it out and the bench test showed it was still good. I guess I have more work to do 🤣
What is it? A wall by socket?
The 12 mm quarter inch one
A "wobble" socket.
From an Amazon description... "This wobble extension set is designed to “wobble” when in contact with the socket providing enough flex to get a firm grip."
I was waiting for you to start the engine... what a let down... :(
