This video was so easy to follow from start to finish. There’s just one slight little correction for doing it on my 2006 Solara. When he shows you how to remove the sensor connector, he says to just press and pool while pressing across the thin side of the connector. For mine, you had to press and pull from the wide side of the connector instead.. I imagine there is some slight variation from year to year.
This is by far the best video I’ve seen for the ES 300 alternator replacement. I started replacing mine today for me the lower ball gave me the most difficult time to come out.
This is the most informative video that I have found for dealing with the belt on a 03 Toyota Camry v6. And I need you to know that I appreciate this video so much. Everywhere else is just 2.4L and just aren’t helpful.❤
Thank you, it was gravy train. I like this one best, no fancy tools and impact wrenches. I have no shop, my few hand tools are in A bucket. I m in my carport in the rain. Less than 30 minutes it was out!🙋♂️👍
GREAT video !! Suggestion . . . the A/C hose has a support screw right there at the alternator. Remove it so the A/C hose can be moved a little bit. I gives you more room to remove and replace the alternator.
Awesome helped me immensely. After removing all bolts i found the alternator would not come off...there is a small flange on the top p bolt bracket that catches...use a flathead screwdriver to slightly pry to release it
This video has been great, I am stuck getting the belt back on to the new alternator. it seems to have fallen off the tracks I managed to get it back on but it is super loose. How do I tighten it? And how do I make sure it’s back on correct? Thanks again for this video
Thanks for the video. I replaced the alternator and belt as well. But the car squeals at start up for some time. Can you give information about the proper amount of tension? Mine is V-belt not serpentine. How to check it by feel or rotating or deflection etc.? I don't have the tensionmeter.
Add a little bit tension to the belt and the sound should go away. You should be able to bend the belt side to side while feeling some pressure. Let me know is that helps? Lastly make sure you don't use a cheap belt replacement they are never worth it.
I'm thrilled to hear that you found value in the video. If you enjoyed this content, I would be delighted if you considered subscribing to my channel. That way, you won't miss out on future videos and helpful tips. Thanks again.
Thanks to this - I’m going to go for it- my headlights are dim at idle and voltage low at idle- lots of dash lights on- my gut tells me alt about to go out!
Thank you for your question, Matt. There are a few ways you can check for the condition of an alternator. One way is to check the voltage output with a multimeter when the car is on (make sure the multimeter is on DC voltage). If you get a voltage reading at 13.4V or lower this tends to be a sign of a weak alternator. Another way you can tell is if your car electronics start dimming while driving, to the point that your car shuts off while in park or even while actually driving. In my case, this car was reading between 13.1-13.2V, and it was also shutting off at stop lights. If you suspect an alternator issue you can also check at your local auto parts store as they will check it for free.
How'd you get the alternator to slide into the hinges? I've tried to hard and I'm worried that if I do then putting on the belt will be incredibly difficult. I have a 2002 es 300
Thank you for your question! When sliding the alternator into the hinges, it can sometimes require a bit of finesse. One helpful tip is to slightly pivot the alternator while positioning it in the hinges, as this can facilitate a smoother fit. Let me know if it works.
Hey there! Having a lot of trouble removing the top pivot bolt. I used a ratchet and socket just like you but it was on super tight and my socket slipped and started to round out my socket, sprayed some WD40 and waiting for it to dry but if I try again with a different socket i’m worried i’ll strip the bolt further Any recommendations???
Hey Brendan, I'm sorry this happened to you. Were you able to remove the bolt? I highly suggest that if the bolt is already getting stripped to get a new bolt from the dealership to replace it with once you put the new alternator in. If you are still having issues with removing the bolt, I have used these bolt extractors in the past and they work very well - IRWIN Bolt-Grip 5-Pack Bolt Extractor Set. Let me know how it goes.
@@ajthemaker5058 it’s okay! A friend let me borrow their tools of a much higher quality and I got it off :) you are amazing and this video helped me immensely! Car is running great
Just fyi for others... My alternator top pivot bolt area stuck also. It was a slight flange in the alternator case. If you cant remove the alternator after removing the bolt try using a big flathead screwdriver to slightly pry it. Worked for me!

That's great to hear and good job.
Great video one of my workers alternator went out while he was driving to work. We actually drove to parts store and replaced it in the parking lot.
That's pretty awesome. Great job. I did something similar with the starter of this same car.
Me gusta, felicitaciones Andresito.
Love the step by step instructions.
You’re the man! No one else explained it like you did. Ty. I’m replacing my alternator right now because of this video. It’s almost done

@@ajthemaker5058 You are right in both points. A bit tension helped and cheap ones are very bad
Excellent video 👍

Me and my father did this on a V6 Lexus. Little warning. If the alternator is oem. The bolts might be REALLY torqued down. Be careful not to break it.
Thank you Miguel for the great insight!

How do you know if your alternator has gone bad.

AJ&TheMaker what is voltage
@@MatthewMillsDaBesta it's only applicable if you have a voltswagon
Volts can be define as "an electromotive force or potential difference expressed in volts."
Good video, but the 2006 Camry is a bit more difficult i think...

Hi sir. Thanks very much for sharing your video. What model number was the alternator since the amazon link does not work anymore.
cheers
