      Thanks! This was one of the few I actually timed. It took 2.5 hrs including dry time and basing (I did speed it up with a hair dryer).

    I didn't dilute Nazdreg Yellow when I tried it for my gobbos, which is probably why I didn't like it as much. And using diluted Gryphcharger Grey to recess shade the skin should be a winner! As always, thank you for all the recipes! ❤

    Darcy, i just recently discovered your channel because you had posted a tutorial on painting Cadians on Reddit. However, I can´t find a video related to that on your channel. Do you plan on doing that in the future? Your scheme is my favourite after hours of research on the internet and since I have to paint like 800 of those dudes it would be great to see your scheme in action lol
    Great work on the Ironjawz btw

    • @DarcyBonoCreations
      @DarcyBonoCreations  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well thank you, and thanks for checking it out! No sorry, no video on the Cadians. They were painted for a massive army commission and the time I wasn't making videos. To be honest I don't think I will paint khaki and green ever again after that one 😄.

    I came to TH-cam to find yellow Ork armor because I saw an amazing Ork Kommandos kill team posted on warhammer community. Half way through the video I realized they’re yours! Amazing job on both

    Thanks for the awesome video, I will be definitly following your method. Might add some green highlights to the face with Nurgling Green. Two questions: what is the best way to consistently mix your contrast paints in a certain ratio? And, why do you use White Scar primer? I thought Wraithbone was generally the way to go with natural, warm, and earthy color schemes. Thanks in advance!

    • @DarcyBonoCreations
      @DarcyBonoCreations  28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hey thanks! To answer your questions 1) I just put my Contrast Paints in dropper bottles and then mix them with a an old brush on a paper plate. I twist the brush to press some of the excess paint out before rinsing it. 2) Yes, ivory is what you use if you want warmer colors. However in this case vibrancy of all the other colors was more important than saturation of the yellow. I generally use ivory when I want all colors to be warmer (blues turn more green for example). But there's a point of diminishing returns on using ivory for something like a saturated yellow. Nazdreg Yellow is already a very warm yellow, so ivory doesn't really do much to augment it (think of it like putting a warm filter over a picture of a desert vs over a snowy landscape). Also, Wraithbone would make the layers of Black Templar a very green black and the skin a warmer slightly olive skin (which I didn't want). That's a long winded way of saying I didn't want warm earth tones on everything and the warm tone I did use was already warm enough 😅.

      That's actually how I did this guy several years ago:
      instagram.com/p/CxK-FHkuRg1/?igshid=NzZhOTFlYzFmZQ==
      I think I put down a layer of Cadsandora Yellow Shade first so it was a bit less burnt orange. But either way you can highlight/chipping highlight using Skrag Brown or even Tau Ochre.

      Yep, sadly no start to finish video though. They were done when I was getting back into painting in 2018, but I do have my color recipes here: ko-fi.com/post/How-to-Paint-Icejawz-C0C139LGA
      Contrast didn't exist at the time. Nowadays I would just apply Space Wolves Grey & Apothecary White Contrast (1:1) over white for their skin. And I do have a Contrast Paint example for ice here: ko-fi.com/post/HOW-TO-PAINT-ICE-IN-3-STEPS-T6T7HXOCF

    When painting this yellow (which i love the color of) onto the more flat and smooth 40k ork armor, its easy to see the brush strokes after its dried, any tips?

    • @DarcyBonoCreations
      @DarcyBonoCreations  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you're doing it on large flat smooth surfaces, it's easier just to paint it with Imperial Fist Yellow and Shade with Gor Grunta Fur like in the following video on painting yellow:th-cam.com/video/xEcNnCYHVFM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=9y83ULF6bSSdakxx
      The end result is pretty close to Nazdreg Yellow but smoother application.
      Alternatively, if you want to stick with Nazdreg Yellow 1) make sure you're using medium in it to spread it around 2) Check out how to make Contrast Paints smoother in this video (skip to the 5:00 mark) th-cam.com/video/altHjuzV7_s/w-d-xo.htmlsi=uPpbA8uUBfkNIQlx
      And as a finally, you can try stippling Yriel Yelllow over the surface. It gives a more worn look and breaks up and brushstrokes.

    I got a question? I got citidel paints how would I mix them with Contrast medium?

    • @DarcyBonoCreations
      @DarcyBonoCreations  หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you mix Citadel Paints with Contrast Medium it's just going to be like mixing them with Lahmian Medium except it won't flow quite as much nor be as transparent. What I mean is that the paints will be slightly thinner, but they're not going to give you the same "Contrast Paint effect" due to the pigmentation of regular Citadel Paints. You're better off mixing them with a thinner medium (such as Lahmian Medium) or water as there isn't really a benefit for mixing them with Contrast Medium.

      It's fine if most of what you're painting is green. But you won't be able to use Contrast Paints with it.
