Who said Embraer was boring? We love all planes!
Yeah...I Iove the winglets of the Embraer e175
It isn’t as interesting as the 737Max
I'd rather choose a "boring" safe plane ... than an interesting Stuka. 😏

Agreed
I would choose an E170/190 series over a B737 any day!

@@757Superfan I flew Icelandair on the 757 many times when assigned to Iceland for the Navy. It was always a great, comfortable jet to fly on. (It is one of my favorites)
@@757Superfan The Rolls Royce engines on the 757 were (and still are) excellent engines. They have served the 757 very well over the years.
I’ve flown the max once last Sunday as a cabin crew. It’s an amazing aircraft and the changes Boeing made to the cabin do have an impact in making it easier to help and serve passengers
The mood lighting is so cool, way better than airbus
This was a fun video Coby. Dat reduction in engine noise alone has me sold.
Having flown the MAX 5 times since December, I agree it's a remarkably quiet plane. Besides these LEAP 1B engines, there's a efficiency gain from the new wings with less drag.
I read this as saying you flew on a "MAX 5" so I pictured this tiny short fat plane wobbling as it takes off.
Oh, so you flew in an invisible tube of air to get you to your destination? That’s weird.
you mean the max 7?
@@cheskasimbajon6286 they likely meant that they have flown on a 737 max aircraft 5 times
It’s been a while since I watched one of your videos. This was very well done and much improved over previous productions. Great job!
I flew in a MAX 8 in 2018 and I LOVED the plane, it's quiet and efficient so I don't feel so guilty of flying because of contamination. I hope I can fly in it again
It’s still a 737 ugly plane
Yeah I really want to try the 737 MAX
Try it ! It’s not a bad plane
It’s not that special tho
He's right. It's mostly like the 737NG, but quieter.
@@757Superfan - No it isn't. It's got a new wing and fuselage, upgraded decor and such. It's just that most of that isn't that noticeable for passengers.
Just another plane.
I'm super jealous! I want to fly on the MAX too, and prove to people how great it really is. I'm sick of people that keep dissing Boeing and the 737 line of aircraft just because of TWO crashes that clearly has the flaws that caused them fixed!
What I'm sick of is people blaming Boeing for PW4000 issues and Rolls Royce Trent 1000 issues

I flew in the last max before being grounded and it was grounded once we have landed. I also flew in a max from halifax to london once and many times in between. I will fly em anytime.
Lucky you for not being on a flight where the MAX flies directly into the dirt.

@@ZiggyMercury It has nothing to do with luck. Human fly planes. And human factors plays the most important part when unexpected emergency happens, on how they react and response. Most American pilots have more product knowledge and experience, to handle flight emergency better, in my opinion. . I often, wonder what would be the outcome, had those 737Max pilots with "MCAS" defects, switch off the defective MCAS and flew the planes manually ????
This is the record, before the accidents. 2 out of 42,000 flights. pretty good to me. By May 2018 - a year after the first delivery - more than 130 Max planes were in service with 28 different airlines around the world. The Max had flown almost 42,000 flights in that time, moving about 6.5 million passengers.
Flew the MAX for the first time right on my first flight after Co19, two legs on AA. Found it a perfetly cromulent domestic mainliner. Fine flying, noticeably quieter, and AA's tighter pitch was not that much of a problem since it's pretty much the norm You do have a good point with how well they do the lighting (wonder how long until bean counters decide to heck with that, back to on/off) and the overheads were quite good, I do hope they become a norm. Heck, sure, fly it!
As someone who flew on Southwest 2-3 weeks ago on 4 different flights, (2 to get to Idaho and 2 to get back home) I flew on the 737-800, 700, and the max. And out of all of those I greatly prefer the max. It's very obviously quieter and much more comfortable in general. The 737-700 was probably the most uncomfortable, obviously because it was smaller and older. I was honestly a little excited when I found out I was getting to fly on one of the max's. Felt completely safe the entire time.
Hey, Coby. Wish you had known that United and United Express run the air system and HEPA filters at all times. Not just after starting the engines. Safer than being at the airport!
And so? All airplanes operate their air systems all of the time
@@garycecil9561 only when running the packs, which can’t be done without the APU, which most airlines do not run at the gate to save fuel.

I was saying the same thing, the max is probably the safest airplane in the sky right now! Boeing isn't taking any chances with this plane after what happened.
We flew on one in May 2018 before they were grounded. Hoping to fly one again soon!
As you do about the new United livery, I felt the same way when WestJet and Air Canada released their newest ones too.
I flew on a Southwest Max from Chicago to Orlando in between when the two crashes happened. To this day, it remains the most enjoyable flight I’ve ever been on.
For future refference Coby, on the tray where you leave your phone to consume media, you can literally pull up the the 'cap' of the tray that falls, and place your phone there on a 90° angle, perfect for head height.
Alaska Airlines is flying the Max too, between Seattle and San Diego.
And Seattle and Los Angeles
Yup and SWA as well
It's a beautiful aircraft! I can't wait to fly on one.

I just recently flew the Max from San Diego to Newark I fly often across country always United and always in either a 737 800 or 900 The Max was a significantly more pleasant experience. One major factor are the less intrusive redesigned over head bins with gives you more isle head room and a feeling of greater expansiveness of the cabin in general . The Leep engines are quieter and the LED mood lighting is far less glaring and more soothing to the eyes during the flight 737 Max 👍
Just wondering, what sort of job lets you fly so often?

Alaska is also flying the MAX. Beautiful aircraft. Nicely done.
You got the perfect window seat. Also Alaska is flying the MAX as well
Okay so fun fact about the phone holder on the 737. You can lay it like he did in the video, or using the small lip in the middle under the latch, you can mount your phone to the seat just like a phone holder in your car. This gives you a better viewing experience since trying to crane your neck isn't comfortable if you have a smaller phone
I’m flying on the 737 max today for spring break vacation, wish me luck
I flew on the max 8 (economy) a few months ago on united and it was a great plane and really comfortable.
Coby, please make a video on who's to blame for engine issues. Too many people have been blaming Boeing for Trent 1000 issues and PW4000 issues, especially Trent 1000 issues.
At 8:17, the engine noise is much much lower
Than the buzz on it's safety and that it is is to be completely avoided.
Man, you would not even realise your on one
(I don't know if that made any sense though)
I think I understand what ur saying
I would love to try out the 737MAX! I know that a very similar thing happened with the 727 in the 1960's and again with the 787 in the early 2010's. Airbus even had their own version of this problem with the initial release of the A320-100 in the late 1980's! Public faith in the aircraft faded very quickly, the aircraft was modified (in the 727's case, pilot training was modified), and everyone forgot about the problems after just a few months or years.
Update: I flew on a 737MAX9 this summer with Alaska Airlines, and it's pretty nice! Not much for me to ad here, but I like that Alaska has free movie and TV streaming to your device even if you don't choose to pay for Wi-Fi.
In the same trip, I also flew the -700, -800, and -900ER, so almost the whole fleet!
Also to clarify it’s not just the Size of engines thats the issue, it was the fact that they we’re positioned further forward, which meant their a much more significant pitch/power couple.
Hence the AA sensors being installed
Outstanding video. The 737 MAX is a beautiful plane, and in my opinion, is one of the safest plane after Boeing spending 2 years to fix its problems. I'd love to try it in the future. Liked and subscribed
The Embraer is all but boring. Fascinating plane. E1 or E2. Really enjoyed flying it.
E2 is really no different
@@pilotpeter8850 E2 has a overhauled cockpit, new larger quieter engine, more capacity, raked winglet, and more exits
The "fix" of the MAX did not include re-wiring stabilizer trim cutout switches back to the NG layout. On the NG, the switches are marked as MAIN ELECT (left) and AUTOPILOT (right). Turning off the right switch disables automatic stabilizer trim in autopilot mode and automatic stabilizer trim by the STS in manual mode. The stabilizer can still be trimmed with electric trim switches on the control wheel or manually with the hand crank. Turning off the left switch disables the electric trim on the control wheel. The MAX has stabilizer cutout switches marked as PRI (left) and B/U (right), these switches are wired in sequence and to the same thing, which is completely turning off both MCAS/STS as well as servos that are controlled with trim switches on the control wheel. This means that the NG pilot can turn off MCAS/STS yet control the trim with the servos, while on the MAX it is either MCAS/STS + servo or nothing at all, so the pilot would have to use hand crank, which is slow and can be downright impossible depending on the flying profile. TL;DR: the MAX has removed a feature that earlier 737 versions had, hence the aircraft became more dangerous. Last year I chose a more expensive carrier and less convenient flight only to avoid flying the MAX and instead I chose the A320. I will never fly the MAX until Boeing rewires the stabilizer trim cutout switches to the NG layout.
at the start that lady do be munching tho :flushed:
Made me hungry ngl
Y'all sound thirsty tho
Not that there's anything wrong with that 🙂
years ago i flew on one and it felt weird on takeoff, no one knew why. it felt like speeding while climbing. the information on each seat about plane and emergency procedure shows only 737 900 but you know it is the max. but many people wouldn't know. i was on one recently and it feels really smooth no problems taking off
if nit said 737-900... it was a -900 not a max 9
I just flew on 2 of United’s Max9s yesterday from Miami to Austin. I was shocked at how quiet the GEnX engines were! Reminded me of the first time I flew a Dreamliner. It was probably one of the most comfortable flights I’ve had in years.
The 737-Max uses Leap engines not GEnX
I prefer the pre-continental United Logo. It reminds me of when United was loved.
It is interesting that the United MAX nacelle is painted blue because the MAX inlet lip has laminar flow,. ALL 787 nacelles which are laminar flow as well are painted white for all airlines as part of the process to keep the flow laminar. Boeing must have developed new leanings about laminar flow that now allow airlines the option of any livery color. Also, by the way the 737 MAX winglets are also laminar flow.
But then again, paint is paint.
Thanks Coby for your sharing your experience on the jet as when I'm ready to travel by flying I will definitely book a flight no matter if it's Boeing 737 MAX or Airbus A321neo as long as I get to Point A To Point B safety

I have a couple of trips coming up I need to take out west that will include a leg on the MAX-9 (though I'm much more excited about a leg back on the Dreamliner). I'm definitely curious.
About a month ago I booked a flight with AeroMexico, from Mexico City to Cancun, which is a route in which the airline's 737 MAXes are used, when I was booking the flight it just said it was a Next Gen 737-800, but the plane I flew was on a 737 MAX-8, and in the safety briefing it said it was a 737-800, which clearly wasn't, it was a 737 MAX, I dont have any problem with the plane, and now that is recertified, it is considered one of the safest planes flying around, and as my first flight on a MAX, I really liked the experience, and it,s a great improvement in comparison with their Next Gen 737s
I'm sure I won't cattch covid, got pokemons to catch 1:19

Embraer isn't boring, it's a nice departure from the Boeing/Airbus Duopoly!
Comment #2: The filming of the take-off's in this video was great! I was very surprised to hear how quiet the engines are. Very nice video!
I flew this aircraft before shutting down on American. All flights were in the Caribbean out of MIA. The only issue was the increase in seats in the plane vs the 737-800. They added 12 additional seats. Otherwise no issues.
i flew on one in 2018 and had a good experience with southwest airlines.
Nice video Coby, beautiful plane!
The flight attendants not stating the MAX name also happened on my Southwest MAX 8 flight from LAX to HNL in 2022. They instead said “737-800 series” on both the flight to HNL and the flight back.
I flew with Norwegian 737Max8 in 2018 from Oslo OSL to Helsinki HEL... That was very clean from inside and as video said: Engines are not Loud and I was so happy be in new 737max and I would go again ofc! 😊
We just flew on the 737 Max two weeks ago on AA, it was great!
Is this a ghost writing this comment?
there are still people out there who criticise boeing but soon enough or in the future they forget and they wont care to see which plane their on
wanna bet?
Coby love your videos and the fact that they are plane specific than like airline or first class videos you see out there.
TBH i think, because of its rigourous flight testing, it's probably the, if not, one of the most safest plane to fly right now
Thanks, good to hear the 737 max is safe.
I particularly like the video's part when you enter the plane.
I've just flown the MAX 8 on FlyDubai. They have a slightly different approach. They avoid "MAX" entirely, everywhere they had to write the plane model down, even on the leaflets, it says Boeing 737-8. I was a little bit confused, so I had to look up the aircraft registration number online to find out it's a MAX 8. I guess they hope people confuse 737-8 for 737-800.
Technically they are totally correct, even the type plate riveted on the top of the front cabin door says 737-8.
Its back !!
Beautifully shot video! The take off and landing were were filmed beautifully!
I would rather fly DC3 from East coast to West coast then a MAXIPAD. My first plane of choice is A220. That is why I choose DELTA AND JETBLUE.
brilliant. not.
At this point the Max is probably the safest plane in the sky, will gladly fly on it anytime. The FAA got a black eye from this and went back over that plane with a fine-toothed comb before they ungrounded it to make absolutely sure it is safe.
You mean like they supposedly did originally, well you're more trusting than me, I'll wait a few years and see what happens
No, it is not. And not everything has been fixed.
As an Airbus hater, I would take any Airbus plane over the 737 max 8. However, I would definitely choose another max variant over the a320neo

Hi Coby,
I just discovered your page last week and I think it is great! You have covered all sorts of very interesting topics. I am a plane enthusiast also. In answer to your question about United Airlines paint scheme: I used to love the red-orange-blue United colors of years ago. Then I hated the gray colors they had for a number of years. After the merger with Continental I was totally delighted to see them take on the Continental color scheme. When United changed the gold to the blue, I was very disappointed because I thought the gold had a certain elegance and somehow the blue just did not look that great to me. As time goes on, I am getting used to it but I still wish they kept the gold on the globe.
Coby as my son says... "haters gunna hate" I'm with you... I'm ready for Southwest to return it's Max's to the sky... I've always lived with what my mother told me many years ago... "when it's your time... it's your time" if I'm flying in a comfortable seat with plenty of leg room... so be it !!!
Embraer isn’t boring. Embraer is a fantastic plane manufacturer
My favorite part of the video is when boarding the embraer 1:17

I flew in it back in 2018. Plenty safe. Runaway trim has been an issue for one reason or another throughout the history of aviation. Pop the breaker or hold the wheel till the motor burns out.
I mean, empirically it was pretty unsafe before the MCAS revisions. If 2/3 planes crash after a certain failure, that failure is catastrophic and should be extremely rare. It wasn't.
@@AmbientMorality Runaway trim is an issue for every a/c with trim, not just 737 Max. What type of training did these crews receive for runaway trim?

4:00. I’ve always liked the United livery and how simplistic it is. I like the new colors and shape of the gray part on the bottom more than before tho.
What's your thoughts on when the MAX made the news for a couple of engine incidents and a warning light, and when the news called the PW4000 issues "another Boeing issue"?
that's a issue for the engines maker, not for Boeing.
I'm flying in the max on southwest airlines in afew weeks.
I love the 737 MAX, great plane throughout
There's nothing wrong with the engines performance that caused the issue. The fact they are moved further up to fit under the wing changed the planes center of gravity. Long story short, the mcas software was supposed to help pilots keep the feeling of the older 737 but only one sensor and not all airlines training pilots on the system resulted in the two crashes. The panic over the plane was blown out of proportion as with most things
I flew on a China Southern Max8 pre grounding and honestly it felt like a comfortable short/medium haul plane.
I can't well be the only one who loves Boeing's new blinking strobe lights instead of the old-school rapid flashing ones?

hi man, I enjoy watching you videos. keep going. 😀
also I prefer this new United logo, although, on their next anniversary, they should use the older one
United new livery is awesome😎
It stinks. They have changed liveries more than any other airline.
I've flown on the 737 Max of course before the whole issues began.
When I was flying from florida, I deliberately booked a later flight and one with a transfer because both of the legs of the journey were on 737 Max planes. It was about $30 more but it was definitely worth it.
Those engines are massive LOL that's the first thing you notice. I sat in the seat about three rows in front of the wing so I could look back on the engine inlets. And then on the second leg of the journey, I sat about two rows behind the wings so I could watch all of the flaps and parts of the wings move. and because that's usually the loudest part of the plane. It was definitely quieter than the 737-800.
I would not have any issues getting on a Max again. In fact I would prefer to fly the type over the older 737 planes even with all of the issues that went on with the max.
The 2nd and 3rd largest airlines in my country (Blue Air and Tarom) are getting the type beetween 2023 and 2025
I have found that you can lift up the part the holds the fold down part and sandwich it between a small ledge below it and have you phone at a better angle
