I was there....I saw George Benson in the audience with Earl Klugh on one of these nights....i take it this is a sound check ? btw....thanks for the post !!!!!! I do have audio for this date....
Hello, I'm an archive producer from Italy and a director would like to include this video in his documentary about Pat Martino. Who can I contact to ask for permission?
@bruce68 I suppose it was the late Emily Remler ! She was a fan of Pat at that time, a couple of years before her death in 1990. That night, there were lots of Pat's friends not only those who had been invited to the stage, but also those who were in the audience !
The actual 1984 show (this is a sound check) was really good, and Pat played very well. Better, I think, than he played two years later at Fat Tuesday's. Now he's totally fine of course.
It's a Polytone "Contempo" model, designed by Tommy Gumina, who founded Polytone. Pat used and endorsed this guitar and Polytone amps for about a year and a half.
Does anyone know the name of the tune they're playing starting at about 8:47? I heard Pat do this live a few years back, and I think I heard it before that, but I don't remember where. I'd love to track it down; it's a great tune.
Wait a sec, I thought this was the era after Pat lost his memory. Didn't he not return to performing until 1987? Or maybe that's just a myth? I was two years old when this was recorded so all I know is the stuff I read online. thanks
I'd imagine his frail appearance has far more to do with his(then recent) illness. Read up about Pat's life. By the way heavy coke use doesn't make one look frail..bloated if anything!
Always with this guitar style full of action . He was incredible.
I remember seeing this band in NY and not digging this particular group as much as a later gig with a trio. What an amazing player.
What a trip to see a part of history!
Cómo me gustaría que hubiese más vídeos de Pat Martino de esta época (o anterior)

The bass is eighties! Ibanez Musician 924, 1983. The Ibanez Musician basses before that time looked different :-) So, it is eighties....

That was Not Emily Remler
@@Rightupbass looks a lot like her though, but the girl in the vid doesnt look 27 either, which would be emily's age at that time
seems like a sound check. up until the 7:40 mark.

Do you the playlist and the names of the band?
Does anyone know what kind of guitar he is playing? I am guessing that it is a custom job, but I would love to know who the luthier was.
