I was a drummer at MI in 1983. I remember his pink strat. When it came time to record a demo tape, I decided to play two Steele Dan songs. Not only did Frank play guitar but he also sang. He even dubbed the harmony vocals. I sure wish I still had that recording.
remarkably good recording for the time period. Frank is one of the most lyrical, linear, melodic, graceful, talented and passionate guitarist to ever pick up the guitar
Frank is astounding! His expressivity, harmonic sense, time, phrase. One of the very great improvisers of all time. This period in LA-based music was a rich time. Frank was at the center.
Astonishing technique, he's literally mastered the guitar and seems to be able to play any note selections he wants to, at any speed. He's so musical and intelligent with it though, it's beautiful stuff.
As a drummer for over 50 years this is the kind of music I always prefer playing to thank you Frank for the masterpieces you have brought to all of us through the years
An absolute treat I remember buying passages in 1994 and the cracking ballad was a fantastic piece of art and still is to this day the whole album is a triumph there's only one Frank gamble best wishes Frank from Shrewsbury Shropshire UK England Phil 👍🙏
Me and all my students use Chopbuilder Workout everyday since its first release, and a lot of his books about improvisation and modes. He is the master of sweep picking and speed picking, and his songs are really melodic and beautiful. Frank Gambale is one of the best rock guitarists ever. Soon after beginning with Chopbuilder, I decided to go to study to Musicians Institute and I was a proud pupil of Tom Kolb, Chas Grasamke, Dan Gilbert, Carl Schroeder and all these amazing guys. The best guitarists of all times and the best rock school ever. After more than 15 years, I am still studying what I learnt there!!! Thanks Frank Gambale and all the amazing 80's guitarist who inspire new generations!!! 😍
Ce n'est pas seulement un novateur et un virtuose, c'est aussi un très grand musicien au carrefour des genres pour produire un seul style : le sien ! Quelle prestation qui ne serait pas possible non plus sans le concours des autres musiciens qui l'accompagnent !
Frank ,Incredible performance on this entire collection ! Can you continue or return to this style of creativity? I miss it a whole lot! ! specially the jazz ! Yeah! Keep the 95' style going !!!! Best ever ! Worldwide °
I love Holdsworth, Lane, Garsed, but every time I see you play I realize that you are the greatest among the greats, any time any instrument, you are up there
@@patpogoallroundguitarist5814 used them as well on a Carvin Fatboy. Still very Jazzy (if I remember correctly the g string remains plain, but the low three strings feel very flatwound). I was very happy these products (there are also sets going down to 11) exist because you definitely don't want to apply hybrid picking/economy picking/sweeping and goodrickish chord vocabulary on a Pat Martino style 14 or 15 set. Maybe it works for someone, but it´s close to impossible I think.
First day at MI 1983. you had a pink strat, and I said you're gonna win guitar player of the year award, and you did, rest is history. Cheers Frank

OUTSTANDING recording. Damn fine mix. Performances of each player are beautifully captured here. As always, Frank is in top form.
Amazing concert!
Free spirit song is so beautiful
Yeah.
I like George Benson for 25 years, and I just know Frank Gambale ! He plays so much like George Benson with more modern and diverse styles.
That’s a George Benson Ibanez signature model he’s playing the opening track
Mark Whitfield, Norman Brown, Ronnie Jordan, they often called Benson's Children. But, Frank is very suitable for it too.
Awesome.
Yesterday my 1st modern live of "Passages", and now this beautiful LIVE again today but from the past 🤯
Mastery Classy Gambale!
Frankie goes to Hollywood!
Amazing!
Wow, Thanks so much for sharing. Amazing musicians! I can't believe I went to MI when you were there. You even played on my demo tape.
I thought I was in a call and was put on hold.
It's ok all representatives are busy serving other customers. The music is fabulous.

Timeless.
Looks like he has a nice Marshall JMP-1 Tube Hybrid Preamp. Can't quite work out what power amp and FX its plugged into.
Not sure about the power amp but reckon the unit above the JMP1 is possibly a Digitech IPS-33b.
Frank tava com sangue no olho nesse show. Que massacre de guitarra. Misericórdia! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
❤
he effortlessly hit some benson licks on the GB10.
FG Licks! Rich thank you for your comment. Show your support for Frank and Subscribe and Share this awesome video. Thank you. FG Admin
he wastes Benson.
Does anybody know if that's a GB-10 Frank is playing on the first song? I love that tone !!!
I'm pretty sure he plays a Benson model. His website mentions this in the write up for the Thinking Out Loud album.

What type of strings and what gauge do you use for hollow body guitars Frank?
Frank uses D'Addario Extra Light flat wound with .10 first string. FG Admin
@@FrankGambaleTV That was unusual for a hollowbody. Thank you.
