    Hands-down one of the very best DIY videos I've ever watched. This is EXACTLY what I was hoping to find on TH-cam. Clear Photography (picture is worth 1,000 words), all major questions addressed pre-emptively, and even the cost data at the end. SO well done. Thank you!!

    We did our bathroom a few years using all the same ideas, this round as we plan out our kitchen thank you for sharing the hammer Chisel lol, that will save all the wet saw cuts!! And adding the liquid nails to many bricks at one time will be so much faster!!!!

    This is a great reference video. We had a brick wall professionally installed, but I’m now doing another one myself. This really helped me. The grouting is the part I’m not looking forward too. But I used adhesive mix and was concerned about consistency and got it right first time which took the stress away. Much more expensive brick slips in the UK 🇬🇧

    THANK YOU ! ! ! This video, nor anything half as comprehensive, existed a year ago when I started planning a lounge in our house. This is exactly what I want to do in our lounge. The only reason I didn't pull the trigger was because there were no DIY videos available at the time, and the professionals can be tight lipped about installation (they want you to contract them for the job). This video basically confirms what I expected... but now I won't have to wonder if I am making a mistake and ruining expensive material. AWESOME !

    Installation guides say to use a scratch coat of thin set and then a bonding coat on the brick itself; however, it seems a lot of people are using the really advanced adhesives (liquid nails, loctite, etc) and having great results without the hassle. I've prepped two walls in my basement and plan to use the same approach. Looks great!

    • @HomeProHero
      @HomeProHero  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment! It can be done either way as you noted but the cleanup is a heck of a lot easier with the adhesives! That grout really tightens everything up! Good luck with your projects the look is awesome!

    Thanks so much for this easy to follow video. I'm from Indiana as well...little 'ol Avilla. I currently live in Massachusetts and everything is so expensive so I love DIY projects. • @HomeProHero
      @HomeProHero  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching! I think everything is expensive here too :) I think you could for sure use the exact same process. Likely look great too! The thin brick and mortar is the exact same material you see with real brick installs. Using that landscaping Liquid Nails should do a good job holding the thin bricks tight to the concrete foundation. I have used that LN on exterior landscaping blocks and it work great and held. Take care

    Great video! I've been wanting to add a brick finish on a wall in a powder room, and I've looked at the faux brick panels as an option, but I think this gives a nicer finish. I have a question for you. I would like to have those type of bricks put on the bottom of my cinder block foundation around the outside of my house, but the previous owner painted the cinder blocks. Is there anything additional that I will have to do to the comcrete cinder blocks being they're painted to make sure the bricks stick to the concrete cinder blocks?

    • @HomeProHero
      @HomeProHero  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching! I'm not sure if you will need to strip the pain of the cinder blocks. I would get a thin brick and adhere it the block. give it a few days and see how hard it is to pull off. If it comes off easy I would contact a paint store about a stripper to remove the paint. I bet you won't have to strip the paint and i think that thin brick is a perfect application for your idea! Thanks HPH

    • @HomeProHero
      @HomeProHero  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thx for watching! I just used masking tape on the ceiling and used the same mortar between the ceiling and the last row of brick - clean look. Yep you want to do that ceiling first and that's what I did in the home office I have videos of. By putting the ceiling in first the brick will keep the ceiling from being unsupported, maybe sagging, on the edge where it meets the brick. The transition will be cleaner between the two if the ceiling is installed first. Take care!

    I might suggest that thinset adhesive mortar of your choice of colors and applied with a 3/8 notched trowel will go a lot faster provided you can mix it to a uniform and plastic consistency. When the thinset gets dry enough, you can thumb it or brush it, and there won't be a need for grout. Just don't smear up the face of your brick with the mortar.

    • @HomeProHero
      @HomeProHero  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats a good question! Thanks for watching. I'm guessing you are using the corner bricks provided by the manuafacture. If it was me I would start in the middle and work my way out to the corner pieces. Then cut the bricks between the corner and the last full brick in each row. Is the mortar more workable than sanded grout? The people at Mapei strongly recommended applying a sealer on the brick prior to grouting to protect the brick from staining. Have you had this issue at all or does the mortar not cause staining the way grout could?

    • @HomeProHero
      @HomeProHero  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The mortar is pretty firm when it's applied. If it begins to leave the channel and drip on the face of the bricks it's too wet. It dried extremely fast because the bricks are sucking out the water. I would be more concerned if the bricks are sealed they won't suck the water out of the mortar maybe causing a weak bond between the brick and mortar. I would only seal the bricks once the mortar is applied and tooled and maybe only if it was a backsplash in a kitchen. Thx for watching!
