    This looks like so much more work compared to standard brick walls.

    Doesn't waterproofing prevent the flow of vapor?

    Why wouldn't you lay brick considering that you have a concrete base?

    How would you incorporate a rain screen into the wall construction? Wouldn't this siding benefit from a rain screen just as all other siding does?

      there is no rain screen in this type of installation. Along with the inclusion of a a waterproof layer, the bricks are low absorption and the grout used is polymer modified, When sealed it should provide good protection against water intrusion.

    Don't put felt and then waterproofing... good way to trap water.

    Is there no weep holes installed here because you did a water proof membrane ?

      Yes, because there is a waterproof membrane there are no weep holes.

      What sort of mortar do I use to adhere the thin brick to an exterior concrete cinder block wall?

    It seems a lot more expensive than just installing real brick

      Exactly what I was thinking. Save a little on the brick but a crap ton more labor and time

      I must depend on the conditions of the installation. If the foundation is already made for brick veneer, with an outer shelf, the real thing would probably be less work. But if you have to add a support shelf, either because the foundation doesn't have one or because the wall is too tall to have all the brick piled up on the foundation, something like this is probably easier.

    Would I need to still put up metal lath if I use concrete board?

    • @iandefilippo
      @iandefilippo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No you wouldn't.

      With concrete board do you still need the waterproofing membrane?

    Wouldn't cement board be faster and more practical than the scratch coat?
    I know I'm asking in vain, but maybe someone knows this answer.
