I actually love the vibe that bricks + white paint give. It reminds me the house by the see my parents used to rent in summer when I was a child. As always you did a fantastic job in placing and spacing the tiles!
Looks great. I like the white on the vertical portions personally, gives a nice contrast. Layout is preference as well. Was thinking right before you said it, I would seal those bricks before grout lol. But would then seal again after finishing to lessen maintenance on the grout.
That turned out really nicely! I do like the white paint actually, breaks up the brick a bit plus I do feel that if you filled the white spaces, it would look like too much brick!
I’d hoped you’d brick the walkway! Looks much better, fits the brick you’d already installed and this will last unlike the white paint. I would’ve bricked the entire thing. The white is too much of a contrast plus it won’t last like the brick anyways. If you found either white brick or used white cement and then stamped a brick texture it’d be awesome… still think the white would be too much though. The red tones compliment your dark blue house
I did couple of walls with this and grout part is a major PITA. Sealing the brick first helps a lot. But better way is to make grout a bit thinner and apply with a squeeze pouch thing. Waaaaay less cleanup.
So this is EXACTLY what I want to do. My porch is smaller than yours and believe I have 2 steps… we also live PNW. Do you this as a business? Love the wire paint too
Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t the center line need to bisect through the center of the short sides or the center of the long sides on a herringbone pattern to have even placement? It’s hard to tell from the video, but it looks like you aligned the corners to your center line.
When you centralise herringbone don't use the point as the middle reference. It's the middle of the 2. Also point with gun or bag, not like tile. Cheers pal
When you mentioned putting a sealer on the bricks before the grout, did you mean, before laying them at the beginning, or once they were set in place? It did seem like a sponge party there for awhile. Great video, well narrated and edited.
Ment applying a a sealer after they are all laid and dry with thinset. That way the grout would have come off a bit easier on the fronts of the bricks during the washing process. Thanks for watching and good questions.
Curious to know. What part of the country are you doing this application in? I’m in the Midwest and wondering with our 4 seasons and sometimes extremes free and thaw. Will veneering my porch hold up.
👏🏼 YOU DID AWESOME! oddly satisfying watching someone else do the work 😂 I actually wanted to do something like this and these things bricks 🧱 looks doable to cover my exposed concrete foundations (I think that’s what they’re called). We painted them with some white concrete paint but they are chipping now and I wanted something nicer to add- despite my landscaping plants that will cover them but I’ll still feel better seeing them after giving myself 2 ft clearance so I can get back there and maintain any weeds, etc 😆
@@BYOTools Thank you. I woud keep them matt. To me, shiney brick looks a bit "cheap". The only place I've seen brick steps was in the USA - I've never seen it in Europe. I always thought they were full bricks ( I'm thinking the General Electric training facility in Conneticut that was built in the 1950's ), but maybe they were brick tiles !
Haha thanks for the callout. Glad I didn't disappoint you on the Sexy Beast at least. Just trying out a different style intro, which I do from time to time. Do you want the "Let's Get Started" back?
Why did you run the bricks on the steps perpendicular to the nosing? If you ran the bricks parallel it would have looked much cleaner and you wouldn’t have that skinny strip at the top. Pretty goofy move to me.
Wow i remember when you painted those steps i think everyone was thinking its going to stain. But man it looked really good after all this time.
Would also recommend a piping bag for grout in the future. Would keep it much neater for cleaning later.

Amazing to hear and I do live close to the beach so that fits your storyline perfectly haha.
Great! Here in Italy we have quite a hot summer and a lot of sunny days so white is a prevalent colour by the seaside
This is lovely, the blue, white and terracotta brick really give a Mediterranean vibe 🙌🏻☺️
Love hearing that and I think its a perfect color combo for sure.
Use cold water and Dawn much easier to clean. Your work is second to noneay God continue to bless you and your family outstanding work.
I'm with you on the white 100%.
Love to hear it! Thanks so much for watching Leo.
Fabulous job! Wow! Wow!
Oh dang, that turned out great!
Thanks so much for watching and the kind words!
I LOVE all of your videos. You do amazing work and I love how you explain everything. In this video I LOVE the white. It's perfect !
The white looks great!

wow dude that looks amazing! way better than before

My thoughts exactly! Thanks so much for watching.

Looks really good 👍🏻 I might have made a border of straight bricks around the herringbone but that’s just personal preference
Looks good? I like the white!
Great to hear and thanks so much for watching.
Love it!

Now you have to match that wall next to it :) good work

Looks really nice, good job 👍

Exteriorly?
Externally?
How durable are they? Especially the corner ones?
Man cleaning that grout looked like a nightmare!
Not a nightmare but definitely not an easy one haha! Thanks so much for watching.
Why didn't you use a grout bag?
Looks fabulous.
Beautiful.

Dude great job I need the tile saw
how much time do you have with the thin set to make your cuts etc... while the concrete is already buttered?
How do you make sure the bricks are level and shed water away from your front door and steps?
Curious to know. What part of the country are you doing this application in? I’m in the Midwest and wondering with our 4 seasons and sometimes extremes free and thaw. Will veneering my porch hold up.
Can you use paint stripper that people use on furnitures to remove those paint?
Probably. Just don't know how that would effect the concrete and if you would still need to abrade it before thinset.
How long did laying all the bricks take you?
I really want to do this to our step, but we are in the upper Midwest and I’m afraid the freeze and thaw will pop these off 😬. Any thoughts?

Classy!❤
I Try :)
The pieces you cut with the wet saw, why didn't you cut those in half one last time and put half on each side ?
Looks great. Is the outro shot where it's still wet, or did it dry shiney ?
They are still damp/wet and dry flat. No shine but I am thinking about adding a clear coat to keep them that dark rich red color. What do you think?
@@BYOTools yes add the clear coat, it will help with cleaning it in the future and seal it to make it more weatherproof 😊

a lot of work, but looks GOOD! 👍
Where is your classic "let's get started!"? Still watching, but I better hear "now that's one sexy beast" at the end!
Haha thanks for the callout. Glad I didn't disappoint you on the Sexy Beast at least. Just trying out a different style intro, which I do from time to time. Do you want the "Let's Get Started" back?
Love it🇨🇾
I would put brick below but this is one sexy beast!

🙏👏👍💪
Glad you approve :)
