I miss the TARDIS being this sort of creaky, temperamental shed groaning through space and constantly needing to be whacked and sparking and short circuiting. Nowadays it’s just this perfect faultless machine that can do anything

The whole reason Ian and Barbara couldn’t get home was because the doctor couldn’t control the TARDIS, it’s a running theme through the entire classic show that the TARDIS is always wrong, the Doctor cant control it very well, it hardly works. And that was picked up in nine and tens run, the creaky old TARDIS always needing whacking and groaning and sparking. It only became a faultless machine that could do anything in later new who
Yeah, it’s like an engine sound used quite frequently in the tenth Doctor era, but I’ve never been able to get a clear version because of dialogue and stuff. It’s a great sound, but I wish there was clean version of it! Actually, at 1:43 I found another version of it, but even that has other SFX other the top and sounds unclear.

In assasins creed valhalla of all places when you go to something called an anomoly when you activate it it plays this very noise/sfx. At around 0:32 of the linked video, not sure how they got it. th-cam.com/video/Xf4BT5d_ra8/w-d-xo.html
