I very recently had a bad encounter (sideswiped) with a Chevy Silverado and my 2011 Road King. It didn't turn our well for me or my Road King. Long story. Anyway, it almost totalled me and it did total my bike. I was very blessed , Jesus had His hand on me, since I just had my hip replaced last August, plus I had orthroscopic knee surgery a few months back also, plus metal in my upper back from a construction accident 15 years ago. Anyway, I've rode for 30+ years and this is the first wreck I've ever had on asphalt. I guess the question I have is how do you feel about the new HD Trikes. I love to ride , and at 57 I'm not ready to give up riding at my age. I just can't take another accident like this one. I'm still recovering from a concussion, several broken ribs, and a broken left foot with a amputated big toe and a severely mangled middle toe (through heavy leather boots). More surgery may be needed at a later date. Anyway I'd love to see you review some of HD's new Trikes if you can someday. And if not for your videos on counter steering in extreme situations, I may not be here (at least that's what my buddy's tell me that were behind me, I don't remember the accident yet). Thank you Jerry and Donna for all y'all do. Your videos must get ingrained in our subconscious. Cause I'm still here. God bless y'all and Godspeed🙏🤠
Thanks for the kind words and I hope you have a quick recovery. As for trikes, I'd recommend the Can Am trikes with 2 wheels in the front. They handle more like a sports car and are a lot more fun to ride and safer than a H.D. trike.
@@motorman857 thanks so much Mr Jerry and Mrs Donna for all the riding tips and safety tips. I am a Harley guy since my youth, but I'll sure look into the Can Am's. I've always trusted your advice my friend. Godspeed and God bless you and Donna. And if your ever in Southern Virginia on the Blue Ridge Parkway, near Mabry Mill, look my wife and I up if you need anything, we live 20 minutes away🙏🤠
I don’t understand the issue people have with HD brakes. Riding coach Bret Tkacs has a presentation showing a HD Dyna Switchback with a Single front disk, outbrake both a Ninja sport bike and a BMW GS adventure bike, from 60 to zero, by a couple bike lengths. ADV, and especially sport bikes are limited in how much braking that can do before the rear end goes airborne. A HD cruiser can take all the braking you can give it, up to the limits of the tires, and will stop faster than just about any other bike on the road. Dual disks and designer names, are just ego trips and marketing, unless you are actually racing on a track.
Hi Jerry, thanks for another informative video. I'm so sorry to hear Donna can't ride any more... is it a mobility issue e.g. mount/dismount, or is the doc more concerned about what might happen in an emergency situation/tip-over? I know trikes aren't for everyone, but could that be an option to at least get some wind therapy? (But then again, room in the garage...!) Please give her my best. I have to say Harley does come up with some really nice paint schemes, but the Fast Johnny line-up leaves me cold. I get the American Muscle idea, it just doesn't work for me. Keep up the great work! Cheers and regards from Oz. 👍🇦🇺
Hey Jerry sorry to hear about Donna not being able to ride she must be broken hearted and you lost a great riding companion. Hope in the future she gets back on a bike again even if it’s a trike then you can come out with a ride like a pro trike addition lol.
If I'm not mistaken, I think the latest models have Brembo brakes, but these two new CVO models will have the radial mounted calipers. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
@@jimyounger9490 I had just commented same thing about how good the brakes are They’re amazing. Stopping 800lb bike in such a short distance with pretty decent feel .. impressive
@@jimyounger9490 Actually, not only does Bubba Boswell ride, but he's a professional racer till this day. He didn't say the brakes were bad, he said, I'll paraphrase, as you make more power, you need more braking force.
@@jimyounger9490 Bubba never said the brakes suck. You're just making stuff up. The Apex paint as well as the Enthusiast GI and those new Fast Johnnie bikes are all limited bikes but not individually numbered. According to Harley's press release, those Fast Johnnie bikes will be limited to 2000 units globally (for all 3 bikes combined).
I stopped by a Harley dealer the other day to redeem a gift certificate and was greeted with the opportunity to take a test ride. I couldn’t pass that up. I ride a 2018 road king, which I like. I don’t care for the looks of the Nightster, but I wanted to ride it to maybe, change my mind. I thought it rode and handled nicely. Hood brakes and good power. That’s the good, the bad is that I thought the engine sounded like sh*t, and it just looked cheap. Plastic covers trying to cover up stuff hanging out in the way. If I were to be kind, it looks like a Japanese knockoff of a Harley. If I was being unkind, it looks like a Chinese copy of a Harley. Having said that, I’m old and not the customer they are going after. I hope they sell a million of them.
HD fit and finish is the best on the planet... we just need to see engine improvements that equal the fit and finish. HD makes the best looking bikes on the planet.
Interesting that the CVO will have the VVT. Good move if they come out. The black and orange bikes looked cool 😎. I like the look of sidecars with Harley's. The XR1200 is a great looking bike in my opinion. Be a good speedway flat trakker.
I was talking to my local dealer yesterday about the Highway King with the sidecar and asked if it comes with a reverse. He said he seems to remember ordering his with it but wasn’t sure. He offered to check his order for me but I told him not to bother as I have no intention of purchasing one
Jerry, I'm sorry to hear about the doctor saying that your wife shouldn't ride anymore. Hopefully, she can prove the Doc wrong. Remember what they call Doctors that finish at the bottom of their class... "Doctor". Lol! Just kidding. Best wishes.
I've owned 7 or 8 Japanese V twin cruisers. None of them had VVT. Which Japanese V-twins are you speaking about? I know sport bikes have had that type of motor, but Harley makes big V-twin heavyweight American style cruiser/touring bikes.
No offense but this guy needs to know his product better. Current Harleys do have Brembo brakes. Also braking has nothing to do with engine power. You don’t need less powerful brakes on older bikes with less power or better brakes on newer bikes. My 107 needs as powerful of brakes as a 131”…..braking is about how much the bike weighs and how fast it is going when you apply them.

Hello Bubba!
He’s no expert! Them touring Models have Brembos for sure….
VVT has been used since the 80"s on motorcycles Harley a little late ! Better than never i guess .
I was thinking the same, the Japanese manufacturers are giggling on that one. They've been at the VVT game for a long time.
Harley is always late to the game. Then they act like it's new and they invented it. They are very disappointing to me.
Problem is everytime they try something more modern ( vrod, buell etc) no one buys them.
