    This is my dealer, Bubba and Betsy are the best folks. These folks are riders not just a dealer. They lead rides and trips all the time. They are truly Harley representatives and make sure that you are a part of their family!

    Priceless interview. Bubba is clearly the stuff of legend as much as the brand with which he makes his living. Thanks Jerry for posting.

    I just bought 120th anniversary street glide from Boswells. Bubba and his wife are the best. It’s a family friendly atmosphere right when you walk through those doors. If y’all are ever in Nashville through the week they have an amazing grill to eat at.

    There's a few dealers in the Nashville/Middle Tennessee area that when you go in, if you don't look like a guaranteed sell, they condescend to you. But every time I've gone into Boswell's, I've felt welcome, even if all I wanted to do was daydream & live vicariously through their showroom.
    The Fesler's Lane store, the one in the thumbnail, used to have one helluva good grill in there, too.

      They do still have that grill. Diane runs it. She and her staff run a great grill. It’s my lunch stop when I’m in Nashville.

    Motorman, thanks for having Bubba Boswell on your channel. He is an icon here in Middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky. Would love to see more content similar.

    Great family and dealership. My parents use to live just outside of Nashville. Been to that dealership a few times.

    I remember everyone, including myself, riding Hodaka 100s and 125s in the Southern CA desert District 37) in 1970 to 75. When the Baja 100 came out, guys like Larry Roeseler and Bruce Ogilvie really moved through the ranks. Those 100s were winning in novice, intermediate and expert. The new HDs are nice, but can't compete with the Gold Wing for long rides. I've owned ultra's and Road Glides and both were nice, but as I age I appreciate the comfort and superior performance of the new GW. Bikes don't have personality, people do.

    Motorman, Palm Beach Harley, in West Palm Beach, would take a $500.00 deposit back in the 90's. And if memory serves, I think you had to trade off a bike, and he wouldn't sell to you if you didn't have the mc endorsement. Charlie would announce a new model line at a certain time. (Softail maybe on a Monday or Touring on a Friday) People would line up, and camp out. Sometimes the bike was sold several times before the original guy took delivery. It was a crazy time. I bought a brand new 1200 Sportster, in 1994. Waited about four months to get it. Paid $8200.00 out the door. They were even expensive back then.

      There were all kinds of stick it to you deals back in the day. I remember just before the first V-Rod came out some dealers started a raffle where you put in a thousand dollars in, and then they picked a number. If you were the ''lucky'' one. you got to buy the 1st V-Rod that came in for 10K over MSRP. A rumor had it that if you wanted one, you paid 10K over list and you had to let the sales manager have his way with your wife on the showroom floor and give it time to draw a crowd.

    I've always said that I wished that someone would put out an all American full fledged super sport bike like the big 4 Japanese manufacturers.
    Not powdered by no V-twin either. 4cyl inline American full fairing sport bike like the R1, Gsx-R, CBR, ZX10R, you'd sell thousands upon thousands of them. The Harley HD1000R...

    I don't know if I agree Harley is bringing in a lot of younger buyers. Give us something under $12,000 that has that vintage look. The old Sportster was neat but not big enough for a taller rider. I don't care much for the Sportster S or the Pan America. I'm eager to buy a new Harley but the stuff in my budget doesn't appeal to me and the stuff that does turn me on I can't afford.

    • @nelsonphilip4520
      @nelsonphilip4520 ปีที่แล้ว

      Respectfully disagree. No one manufacturer can be all things to all customers. The Motor-Company has positioned itself as a premium brand for a premium customer. When you walk into an authorized dealer you become immersed into all things H-D; no scooters; no ATVs; no power equipment. Just a well honed & marketed line-up at the intersection of form & fashion.
      For what it's worth, Harley-Davidson well understands that since its product line-up is priced out of the sub-prime market, i.e. the younger rider. And they further understand that overall the non-H-D market, Jap brands, Chinese internet, and, most importantly, used, is meeting this demographic.

    • @txman951
      @txman951 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nelsonphilip4520 I can agree with that but would you also agree there is concern their customer base is aging out? The person being interviewed said they are bringing in younger buyers but when I go to the Harley dealer, I don't see many under 50. A few years ago when Harley put out some prototypes they actually did show pics of a very cool looking, urban scooter (think Ruckus) and other lower tiered bikes. I disagree Harley should just focus on $30k+ products. You'd think they'd want to create brand loyalty in something a 25 year old could afford new. I don't have the answers but I've enjoyed your opinion. My point is I would like to buy a new Harley but just don't see anything I like and can afford.

    Interesting comment about the new stuff “everybody’s gonna like” as he put it. Loved his take on the PA too. I’m telling you if Harley drops that Bronx and it’s under $20k, they will have another huge hit. Maybe bigger than the FXLRST? Especially if they give it the 1250, which I think would be a huge mistake not to!
