    We bought a Motorhome!: th-cam.com/video/Onlo8q0cMm8/w-d-xo.html
I TRULY did not intend this to be a negative video. However, RV's - in general - are poorly built and often have endless problems. I have to be honest! We do like our Geo Pro and it meets our needs for a lightweight, small travel trailer.

I completely agree with your assessment and frustration.
Unfortunately, you can't avoid negativity. Your points are not only valid, but a great example of how these guys charge more for less quality. For the amount they charge, they should be giving some quality. I can appreciate the desire to make these things lighter so more people can pull them. But at some point these guys need to know where to draw the line when it comes to lowering quality.
Thanks for sharing and illustrating what people need to look for or consider when it comes to their RV purchase.

I feel exactly the same as you. Junk. All of them.
Staples, glue and caulk holding them together.
When I picked mine up, several things were broken/ not right. Dealer said they were 6 to 8 weeks out. I fixed most things myself.
My roof has a bunch of wrinkles in it. That's gonna be a fun one to deal with.
I DON'T like the door friction hinge... at all.
Uncomfortable furniture, all vinyl. We used to get nice cloth seats, now we sit on plastic.

Honestly I think anybody that finds this review to be particularly negative probably doesn't have much experience with campers in general. They're all built like crap. It's just the nature of the beast.

@@tray22- I’ve attended more than a few RV shows, Keystone which has many brands like Montana, Cougar, etc. all have visible flaws in trim, cabinets off kilter, wallpaper with bubbles, rips and tears, one had the stove come free in transport to the show, another had a TV on the floor with a hole in the wall. It’s CLEAR there is zero QC before shipping.

I hear nothing but people complaining about the quality. Most RVers know that none of them are amazing quality. They build them poorly because we keep buying them knowing this as there aren’t better options. Then you bounce it down the road where screws come loose. We had a particular one for 10 years hat I had probably.20 screws we could never figure out where they came from. That doesn’t count all the ones we put back in.
I’ve met a lot of people in the last couple years with issues with Airstream which have historically have been known for quality.

The loose on the bottom panel is bc these units are meant to move on bumpy roads, that allows flexibility so things don’t snap and break. It’s not a house, if everything was tightly screwed things would break, the road is like an earthquake everyday
Now the fridge not cooling unless you unscrew something and needing to use a lighter for the gas stove, no excuses

  • @Oldrush
    @Oldrush ปีที่แล้ว

Multiply the price tag by 4 or 5 and you will get quality. What can you expect for 25k-30k and at least 10k worth of profit. I added insulation, Amazon led lights a fuse panel and marine battery to run my domestic cooler and a Chinese diesel heater. Look at some overland trailers with half this length and no bathroom or holding tanks and they price out at 100k for a durable quality unit.

I just love how the entire RV industry has everyone convinced that they need Goodyear endurance tires. I own a company that we tow two trailers both with double axle full of machines on Westlake tires. Traveling at least 50 to 100 miles a day and have never had a blowout. Want to prevent blowout keep an eye on your tire pressure don't overload your trailer loaded evenly and keep the speed down it's a home on Wheels it shouldn't be going 80 miles an hour.

Great video which highlights what most people are afraid to say. These things are quite poorly constructed using overall cheap materials. I would never buy new from dealer. I bought my trailer a few years old so many mods were done to improve the crappy features and most warranty work was completed as many things break during the first few years. Plus, I saved thousands! 3 years trouble free as of today (knock on wood!)!

There's a lot of evidence RVs built in the pandemic crush of buying were of lower quality. Say, spring of 2020 to maybe early 2022 build periods. Meaning, most 2021 and 2022 models are likely shoddier.

TBH.. it does come across as negative toned… but I think you accurately expressed the overall frustration that all RV & camper owners have with the entire industry and the quality of products they produce. How are they allowed to sell a defective product right out of the factory with NO real warranty or ability to get service performed to repair factory defects?! There is absolutely NO quality in RVs anymore. The whole industry should be forced to provide no cost warranty service centers that aren’t affiliated or reliant on the retail dealerships (who refuse to do warranty work anyways).. or they should have to reduce the price of their “product” to something that accurately represents how disposable everything is that they churn out.

my wife and I have enjoyed your videos over the years, you give some great informative reviews that we found useful when we bought our 2021 Lance 1685 trailer. Sorry you had to change to this Geo Pro. However you are showing all the things I continued to observe when we were shopping all the other brands. You are right, the RV industry gets away with sub-par workmanship and design, and while the Lance is better than most, it should be for what they charge. Also as you pointed out, they have some issues too. Enjoyed listening to another honest review.

I love your video. One thing I have noticed... Overland vessels are not built to marine grade.
Let's face it... between Seller and Dealer reselling prices, lack of following their own warranty obligations, ridiculous repair times... There is not many "off grid" options provided.
Everything is designed to be dependent on services first through third parties overcharge for.
I'm single, I intend to get out. Hunt and fish.
I see there are No Provisions for putting in guns and ammo.
I know I can modify a BUNK model if needed.
I would like to find a mobil Fort ALAMO.
I see NOTHING on the market like that.
After all... it's not what is necessarily lurking outside, that is a constant threat, in camp or in the boonies... It's what I'm trying to keep secure inside!

  • @Ja8888

Most trailers of this price range are garbage. They are built light enough for suvs to tow them, they are not going to be bullet proof. That said, Rockwood has far better quality control and consistency across all of their lineup. Watch Josh the RV nerd showing the factory process for creating these geo pros, it's very insightful. This geo pro is double sided azdel with an aluminum frame, rather than fiberglass mounted to wood like the others. These geo pros are made better than majority of its competitors in the price range. Yea, little things are gonna break, it's just something that comes with owning a shaking/moving home. If you're gonna take a chance on an RV and already know they all suck, this is one of the best you can get without buying an airstream. I think this manufacturer at least put the quality where it mattered on the major things at a price many can still afford. Major in the majors, minor in the minors. If your gonna complain about little things like step alignment and blinds, might be better off in an airbnb...

It's an RV, I don't get the hate it all seems to be typical. My question is why you would go from a Lance to this and expect it to be as good after seeing it did you buy sight unseen? Its a good trailer for what it is.

  • @CharmaineSilva777
    @CharmaineSilva777 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Well what I am thinking about is getting a cheaper trailer and doing all the mods my self. Except getting them to put in a tankless hotwater heater. If the RV industry has all cheap stuff, why spend 30 to 40K when I can spend 17K and and do my own own mods and do them right? Might not have azdel but I would still take good care of anything I get and always make sure it is sealed as if it was these old vintage ones. Hahaha people might look at it on the out side and think wow that's a really cheap one and never know all the great things that was done to it since it was cheap to buy. Kind like buying a cheap house and remodeling it. Haha.

No thanks.... keep all of them. I want to boondock but I also want to go into New York City or San Diego, etc for a few weeks at a time and stealth camp. At the same time I demand reliability. My choice? A Toyota Hybrid Minivan. Remove all seats except the drivers seat. It can be had in all wheel drive and I will have it lifted 3" and with bigger and better tires. The other item on my agenda is a Springbar top of the line 10 x 14 ft canvas tent. With the hybrid minivan I can set the temperature to whatever I want. Even if I'm in the boondocks. You can't do that with a trailer unless you have a ton of solar but if you have all that solar, do it with the canvas tent. Now you not camping you are glamping. In colder temps set up the Springbar with a wood burning stove or go into the hybrid mini and set that temp for whatever you want. I will have flexibility with the weather and flexibility of choosing where I will go next. City or dessert or mountaintop or the beach. There's one other thing that will be on my list. I can set up the minivan for towing on the light side with a small 6 x 8 Runaway that will carry everything that will be needed for the tent and also it gives me access to RV campgrounds should that be my choice. When going into a town or city to stealth camp, I will park the Roadrunner with it's stuff at the nearest RV campground. Springbar canvas tents last forever. Toyotas last forever. Keep your RV''s.

I ordered mine the way I wanted it rather than buying off the dealer's lot. I also use a local family owned dealer and they are great. They even check with me from time to time to make sure everythng is o.k.and I am still happy with my purchase. My beef has been with the dealerships I have sought maintenance/repair work. Quality of the maintenance work has been quite inconsistent, from amateur and wrongly done to OK…never great. Although I do live in area where temperatures can reach 110-120 degrees. So that causes damage to these or any trailer. I’ve found the single axle work well for me, easy to tow and haven’t had any sway issues. And I’ve already towed in snow and sand storms, stupidly I might add. Appreciate seeing your camper. I'm wondering if most of your opinions are lead by you watching a lot of popular TH-camrs. Comments like, "the stabilizers are cheap", "all RVs are junk", "all dealers are awful". RVs are built with 2 opposing masters: weight control and ability to go down the road. And if built to what you must have as your expectations, you wouldn't want to pay that much. I've been an RVer for decades. I've found good dealers, I've never had issues with stabilizers, I've handled small repairs myself and when I've been a good customer, I've generally had good experiences with manufacturers. Rockwood generally builds good products and if you are so disgusted with RVs, I'm not sure why you keep buying them. I did not find your opinions truly knowledgeable or helpful. Good Luck with your travels!

Great walkthrough. I'm in the market, like the floor plans. Deciding on a small travel trailer like this or something storable like the ALiner.
You talked about making sure to sanitize your water tank for potable water. Just one recommendation to viewers. *Don't!* . Always bring separate drinking water. Anything outside boiling it, never consume RV tank water. For obvious reasons 🦠😵
Finally, avoid buying Covid era RV's and campers. Anything from 2021 to 2024+. As you know, a lot of companies had skilled worker and parts shortages. These units are notorious for their lack of quality. As you can see from this 2022 Geo Pro

No thanks, I'll deal with a junky RV, they are pretty easy to fix if you are somewhat handy. A screwdriver and some glue will fix 95% of the issues.

And it's not just the way RVs are it's the way trailers are. They don't have the same suspension as a car to handle vibration bumps Etc and it just comes with the territory of owning a trailer that you will need to tighten bolts screws Etc on a regular basis. I mean the geopro here only weighs 3000 pounds how much reinforcement do you think they really put on

RVs, Boats...you forgot Airplanes! Great video. I converted a cargo trailer using good mattresses, multiple "solar generators", 800 watts of solar on the roof, cassette toilet, induction cooktop, microwave, stainless steel shelving, nets everywhere for storage, a 32" TV and two shore power inlets. I avoided a lot of the problems.

We are on the same wavelength Double Doctor - KISS theory for wife & myself.
Several years ago we bought a used 2018 one-owner InTech Flyer Pursue for $10K. All aluminum construction - no wood. It's only 14 ft. length & 78 in. height. Fits in our garage. Has pull-out kitchen with refrigeration, roof-top air conditioner/heater & Fantastic multi speed fan, TV, stereo, power inlets, solar hook-up, cassette toilet, outdoor shower, large side awning and Ironman 8x8 pull-out tent room attached to rear of trailer. Weighs less than 2300 lbs with cargo. EZ pull with Tacoma TRD 4x4 Off Road with manual trans. We live in the Tampa Bay area and camp frequently in Blue Ridge/Smokey Mountain areas of NE Georgia. Finally got tired of sleeping on the ground without protection and dealing with changing weather conditions. Keep It Simple.

Hi, I have looked at a number of travel trailers and have owned two in the past as in decades ago. One was an Avon. The other was a 23 foot terry. It weighed 4700 pounds loaded with gear less water. (Water was carried in the front and virtually all of that weight went on the tongue and rear bumper.
My interest is in the smaller single axe trailers. Other than the Happier Camper HC1 Breeze, models like the Colman 17B or 17R which are minimum content light weight stick and tin trailers are what I go for. Except for the azdel walls and construction, I am of the opinion that the newer 24 model year entry level trailers are the best value for your money. And for the most part, they are assembled using most of the same parts as the higher content more expensive models.
Keep it simple. A box with a comfortable bed, roomy toilet/shower, small cook top, microwave, refrigerator and lounge chair/sofa with a floating table and your golden.

Excellent review. We have a Casita, although smaller, is much better constructed. Nothing has fallen apart. I do prefer a group 31 AGM battery, over lithium. Overkill with a full sized pick up will prevent towing issues. We tow ours with a Nissan Titan, and you cannot feel the Casita. Do not need the weight distribution hitch, rather an anti sway bar works just fine. I saw where a you tubber sold his Casita and bought a geo pro. Wonder if he is regretting it about now. Plan to keep ours. Appreciate your observations.

Airstreams are only slightly higher quality. My 23FB had floor issues under every window, now they have composite floors not plywood. Over the years I had it, several dealerships would recommend better parts than Airstream original parts, I replaced the inverter, hitch winch, batteries, faucets, drains, and other plumbing parts. Their shell is great! The interior buildout seems above industry standards, but EVERYTHING you don’t see, or they can get cheaper (Airstream uses hitch motors with nylon gears, others use metal which are much harder to strip.) they do. There were also a few wood cuts that were clearly off, which caused a few issues too.

Amazing review my friend, first time RV purchaser and so glad you have enlightened me on the issues the RV industry has as a general rule. I'm completely in awe that at least one manufacturer has not broken the status quo and started to build trailers with +- $300 worth of accessories that are of high quality and better builds. Might be looking on the lightly used market so I can replace some of the "crap" and not blow my budget. Thanks.

Bottom tier travel trailers are not meant to be used as four seasons campers, or for permanent, or off grid, living. They have too many shortcomings for those uses. Anyone with any sense should know that a $20k travel trailer, only gets down to that price point by compromising. You shouldn't expect to get very much at that price point. Do your research. and spend more for something better, if you have to. There are plenty of used, higher tier, travel trailers for $20k, that have a lot more features that you need for long term use, so that might be a better option for many people.

so my name is will friends call me ole man will
been rvin full time since 1981
so to tell u kids cuz most of u are just kids to me with how ya think in all.
so rvs all rvs built between 1990 and 2007 are the best built put together rvs u can buy.
    trailers class As fifth wheels
cuz the people who started the rv business way back then cared about the craftsmanship
    the customer service..
    they stood behind all warrantees
the biggest mistake i see u young people make is goin out dont know what your doin thinking buying new is a good thing
    NO its not.!
    i wouldnt buy a new anything in 2024 !!
    nope all junk
they use such cheap materials trying to max out there profit margine its sick what they do.
back in the early 80s they never did that !! it was all about the customer!
for what u paid for that u could have bought a nice 20 footer with all the bells just the way u like it with 0 issues.
i live in a 1999 tiffin travel trailer not one issue all oak wood all old school
just tires batteries i had to replace and i resealed the roof one time in 2004 its 2024 now , still not one leak none.
lol i rekkon ill die in this ole thing.

Really appreciated your normal consumer take versus the normal review. Thought it would end with something like “we are happy- totally worth what we paid and it has features we couldn’t get with other brands”. After all how many trailers come with actual real solar installed? And the length. Let’s face it we are comparing to what, a Bambi, the rpod? The context is important for people who haven’t checked out the comparables. Curious about when and how you’ve used the generator. It seems like a big boondocking “not talked about” that really could use some honest reflections. We have an gulfsteam vintage “style over functionality, baby” and almost got the generator (which every solar user has dreams about but always dashed on the shores of reality) but never has to use just because we lucky enough to live and camp in the Pacific Northwest. I feels like you didn’t give enough props to the fantastic fan. Actually great for OEM. And why hasn’t the industry gone to 100ahr lithium? Just embarrassing considering the current pricing. That is weird and interesting to hear about magic chef vs typical dometic-good thing TH-cam is there to save our asses. Keep up the good work!!!
