    I really enjoyed looking at this trailer. They look so tiny on the outside that I wasn't expecting it to be such a complete package! What do you think, could you make this tiny trailer work for your camping style?

      I think one burner on the stove is more appropriate but this is a do-able unit for a single lady weekend away/road trip unit.

    I am already a full timer but now I want something like this little scamp so I can leave my big trailer at my base and travel much easier. These little fiberglass trailers make a ton of sense especially when getting older and wanting less hassle.

      The US Military used to rent these to military families for vacations or moves. I don't know if they sell them after a certain age, but you could check with any MWR office. Any base could connect you to the (MWR) Morale, Welfare, and Recreation office.

    Back in the 1980’s I had one just like a scamp but it was call a Burro. It had shag carpet on the walls. It was so easy to pull and I used it a lot! Camping and taking it to antiques shows. I miss my Burro. It was awesome.

    To have a bathroom included in such a small area is awesome, but what disappoints is the black tank size. Yeah, if the gray tank was smaller and black larger, it would be great. Also, 3 way for the fridge while increasing it's size. Great little camper nonetheless. Thanks.

      I agree…you also don’t want to be hanging out with a full black tank, they should be emptied every couple of days anyway no matter the size. Things will start to get quite smelly.

  • @YallAintRight
    @YallAintRight 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

    Scamps retain their value incredibly well. If you look up recent model years, the price won’t be much cheaper than new. The biggest drawback has always been the floor, but since they are changing to a composite flooring, that’s really great. The next level up of RV is a Casita (has a fiberglass floor). The carpet on the ceilings is marine grade and helps with the moisture. I know it’s a little weird and people call it “rat fur”, but it keeps the moisture down.

    • @YallAintRight
      @YallAintRight 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      One more thing, if you don’t want the standard toilet that comes with it, you can ask them to not install a toilet.

    • @DayHikerFromTheSix
      @DayHikerFromTheSix  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      With the new composite floor, Scamp is nearly a perfect little camper. Thanks for watching!

    I really like these campers! Two problems for us first is I have a 6 ft 4 inch husband and I believe your standing height is 6ft 2. Also not sure this would fit into our garage. It is a good value and I especially like the new lite version. We have no need for black tanks etc. So just having a simple portable chemical toilet and a sink with a simple portable water tank or even no sink would be fine. We traveled in our small camper from east coast to Utah in our current camper that had a simple set up similar to the lite and we were very comfortable.

      @Greg-cs8ky 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, I love this trailer. As a solo camper/photographer who likes to be able to stay inside when necessary, the kitchen and bathroom are great. But it’s not quite garageable in a standard garage. I’d prefer the ability to have dinette and bed set up at same time, but that’s not a deal breaker considering the benefits of 13-foot length. But garageability is.

    • @cyninbend
      @cyninbend 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Greg-cs8ky People are talking about lowering air pressure on their trailers to get inside the garage, then blowing it back up once inside. There are devices to do that, even w/auto shut-off. Don't know what model, but I read that at least 5 or 6 times just last week!

    I have always liked Scamp trailers, but when I finally pulled the trigger on a trailer I ended up purchasing an Intech Flyer Expore. It is also a 13 footer and doubles as a toy hauler which more suits my lifestyle. But with that said I still love the 13 ft Scamp and maybe one day I might get one.

    I had a Casita, and think I could on a 13' Scamp. But this little trailer is not designed for people to be stuck inside. An outside propane hookup should be available for cooking outside, as well as an awning option. As for the fresh water, I'd do away with the black tank and install a compost toilet, and replace the black water tank for additional fresh water. Not designed for long boondocking, but would extend the stay.

    I checked factory prices on all models up to 19'. These have got to be some of the most expensive trailers for their size on the market. I kept looking for the Daimler-Benz logo somewhere and never found it. These folks have a very high opinion of their product. $25,000 standard model (above) up to $30,000 for the Layout A Deluxe. You can buy a house for the new cost of the 19'. Close to $50,000. And remember, the prices do not reflect the price of accessories, like the awning, A/C, Heat.... Keep your eyes open during the sales spiel. Add your accessories, then sales tax, the modifications on your current ride...this is not an inexpensive camper compared to many, many others.
