@@vikingjoebloggs3887 well, most of the time depending on the attraction the theme of the haunt changes and in some cases like where I work there are several haunted houses each with a different theme. One of my favorite experiences was when I had just started out, it was the second week of my first year (I've been doing this for almost nine years) and I was in a zombie themed haunt. A group had sent someone ahead as a scout so at first I was just sitting there moaning and growling but not really doing much else; so the guy goes back to his group and I take that moment to quickly hide behind a curtain draped on the side of a hospital bed that was in the room. So when I saw their shadows and heard their voices I pulled back the curtain and and screamed and groaned at them at the top of my lungs all while lunging and swiping at them. (All while making sure not to touch them as that could get me in trouble) and I swear they just about jumped out of their skins as they bolted out of the room.
I fortunately was able to see it opening day! The wait for the fast pass line was 3 hours 😂 miserable but worth it. I was only 11 but I remember it being super scary!
I saw it in its opening year and it scared me so badly I slid down in my seat to try to get away from him! I went back as an adult in 2016 and I was so disappointed that he didn’t move!
Honestly, I LOVED the mermaids in POTC. I was so sad when they stripped away the effects and was even sadder when they eventually took away the skeletons :(
The reason the Yeti doesnt work is that its movements were damaging the superstructure of the mountain. The only way to fix it according to imagineers would be to strip out the wall which disney is not going to allow.
Never will I forget the Disney trip where the mermaids were still in the water. My family was unaware that this change was added and I was still young at the time...but had seen what those sirens could do. I was the only one who saw the glimmer and splash and I SCREAMED in fear and actually jumped and made the whole boat shake!!! My family never believed me that there were mermaids in the ride so I’m happy to show them this and prove them wrong!
The idea that the mermaids in the water were easy to miss is actually really cool. Kind of like an Easter egg and makes them feel elusive and magical. It’s too bad they got rid of it :/
Joe Rohde has stated that because the yeti is anchored to a massive concrete foundation, with Everest built around it, repair of the yeti would require literally taking the mountain apart and putting everything back together. He's just as tired of hearing it as people are of asking him about it, but I imagine the downside of "we won't have one of our E-ticket attractions open for years" is way worse than just letting it run on the B-mode
Ok so I know they won't run it's movement because it would make the crack in the foundation worse... But like... That thing has been sitting with a crack in it for 20 years. Won't it fall someday?

I know how you feel dude. The Great Movie Ride was my favorite ride from Disney’s Hollywood Studios and I’m happy I got the chance to ride it nearly a decade ago. I was heartbroken to hear it’d close down for Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway because I always wanted to work as a tour guide on the ride considering I have a lot knowledge of movies. But I have seen videos of the new ride that replaced it before the park closed down because of the pandemic, and I still think the work the Imagineers did to renovate the ride to Mickey’s Runaway Railway is amazing.
Just to speak for this year- the falling ceiling was working at Indie before the Covid close. It felt like little effects were fixed or turned on leading up to the 25th anniversary.
It's unfortunate that the Yeti doesn't work but I understand why it hasn't been fixed. Basically the entire ride would have to be taken apart in order to rebuild a stronger foundation for the monster. I mean the current foundation is already supposedly damaged, which is very concerning.

The chamber of destiny effect was SOO COOL!! I didn’t know until I was an ADULT that there weren’t three separate rooms. It’s definitely not as cool now. That’s the one I miss the most.
Here's an obscure one that I miss: the Robo-Newz in Tomorrowland at WDW. He was a statue by the Peoplemover queue entry who was supposed to talk, but was broken for a very long time. They removed him last year. I really hope he comes back.
I mean, they have maintenance crews inspecting these rides on a nightly basis. These things run like 20 hours a day, 7 days a week, it's amazing that these rides last for so many years.
15:20 I was there the day the dismantled it! I used to be so afraid of Murphy till that moment. By including that in the video it reminded me of that! I completely forgot since it's been ten years! I'm pretty sure I still have some pictures of it somewhere
Seeing videos of the old Chernabog animatronic is amazing (from memory it was in the Japan park? correct me if wrong please) Imagine what they could do with updated tech and effects if they brought the character back for the new Fantasmic replacement
I guess if they had a animatronic of that scale, it would be difficult to store both that and the giant dragon under the stage together. It would be freaking epic though
A real actor trying to scare guests in the haunted mansion actually sounds really interesting, I can see why they got rid of it but I wish I was able to experience it at least once.
Just started the video, and I can tell you, as someone who has only ever seen Disco Yeti, I really wish I could have seen the animatronic in all his terrifying glory. But I sure do love doing a quick little boogie with disco yeti.
I’m glad I got to ride The Great Movie Ride nearly a decade ago when my family went on vacation to Disney World for the first time. I remember before getting to ride the ride physically, I always watched videos of the ride through on TH-cam. And part of my excitement of going to Disney World was my chance to finally ride The Great Movie Ride, and I was really happy when I finally got to ride it for real and see all the different movies and animatronics of actors from the Golden Age of Hollywood like Humphrey Bogart, James Cagney, Gene Kelly, and John Wayne for myself. The fact that it’s now closed for Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway makes me glad I got to live my dream of riding it. I also rode another extinct Hollywood Studios attraction, The Backlot Studio Tour. But I have seen videos of the new ride Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and while not a classic as the ride it replaced, I do applaud the Imagineers work and technology they used in recreating the look and feel of the Mickey Mouse cartoons and giving guests a similar immersive feeling as being in Mickey Mouse’s world as I and many guests had felt immersed in the world of the movies.
I just want to say you guys are amazing! I love all your videos and I know it’s weird but in hard time your guys Disney facts get me through! You are my favorite!
A good effect that they didn’t mention was the early version of Kilimanjaro safaris. One of the main parts of the early version involved a family of elephants called Big Red and Little Red, and how they are being hunted by poachers. The rest of the ride would be peaceful, until you encounter the carcass of Big red, leading to a climatic chase between the poacher’s Jeep, shooting at your vehicle, until seeing a motherless animatronic Little Red. This effect was met with negative reviews seeing that the elephant corpse was too dark for a Disney Ride, having being removed after the previews. Until 2012, the last remaining effects from the original version were the animatronic Little red, and the poacher’s camp, now replaced by a zebra exhibit.
I think u guys missed the rock falling effect in big thunder mountain railroads 3rd lift hill... hope to see it In a part 2 if it comes, otherwise, GREAT VIDEO I loved it a lot!!
My dad told me about the knight! He said that when he was a young, when he went on the haunted mansion a knight touched him and it terrified him more than words can say! When he first told me the story I didn’t believe it LOL XD
Oh my god! I was in Disney in 2013 and saw the mermaid projections in Pirates and thought it was so cool! When I went again in 2019 I looked for them and couldn't see it! I convinced myself it must of been some sort of fever dream, glad to know it was a real thing!
Fantasia is my favorite, I would’ve LOOOVVED to see that Chernabog in World if Color!! That seemed like it would be so awesome! I wonder why they didn’t ever use it.
god i miss the great movie ride!! rlly wish they had updated the movies in the ride instead of closing it completely. but mickey and minnies runaway railway looks.... interesting
I vaguely remember the falling spikes in Indiana Jones from when I was little. My brother shook the bamboo rod and the spikes started the move which scared me. It was my first time on the ride and it was part of the reason I refused to go on it for years. I finally got on it again about a decade ago and had a blast, though!
The mermaid effect worked in June 2018 minus the glimmering effect I saw something move in the water and it scared the crap out of me thank god I knew about it before I freaked out and no it wasn’t just the boat moving the water

@Fastpass Facts I love Disney DINOSAUR ride from Disney Animal Kingdom theme park more than any other rides in Walt Disney World, except for The Jungle Cruise.
I remember buying the Haunted Mansion album and being so fascinated by the Hatbox Ghost picture at 19:09 , because I hadn't seen the ride yet. (my mom bought me the album the same day she bought herself the soundtrack for "The Godfather", I believe. I begged her to because I pointed out it was unfair she buy herself a record that was really fancy-- it had a folding out three panel cover, I believe-- so I said my record was cheaper and it had a picture book so I deserved it, so she bought it for me!). Only later to find out that not only was there not an executioner who opened the door for you, as suggested in the storybook record (Ron Howard does the voice of the teenage boy, obviously), but there was no hatbox ghost nor a bride with a glowing heart, or at least, not in the version of the ride I saw.... Oh, one other...my best friend at the time found the Thurl Ravenscroft reading of "the head disappeared from his body....and appeared in the hat-box" as somehow very very disturbing. It was something about the way he said "hat-box" with the pause between "appeared", or maybe "reappeared" can't remember which, and the "in the hat...box...." Well, you know, kids were easier to impress and creep out back then. Now it's no fun. They scare the hell out of everybody all the time. =( Mere readings of a story don't impress and anything that isn't digitized or enhanced just seems.... quaint.
This makes sense. I have memories as a kid of going through different doors but of course the recent times i’ve rode it it’s only through the middle door. I thought I just imagined being able to go through different doors.
We got stuck on the Haunted House ride for about 15 minutes. We were at the endless hallway, right where the knight would have been. Frankly, I'm glad he wasn't there.
I remember on the third chainlift on Big thunder Mountain there used to be huge shaking rocks on the walls to simulate the cave collapsing. In recent years however, the rocks just stopped shaking all together.
So I went on a school trip in 2012 to WDW and I was with a girl who had never done the haunted mansion and there was a projection of the hat box ghost onto the back of the doombuggy in front of you. And I was so psyched because I had never seen it before and I go every year. But I haven’t seen it since then and I’ve never seen anything on it (like articles saying there’s a new effect, etc) I kinda feel crazy but I know it happened
HEY! When my dad was younger, him and his bros were riding the Haunted Mansion and it broke down at the spot with the knight. He scared them and then they all had a nice chat. It was a grand old time. My dad still smiles when he talks about it
I saw a list on reddit there are so many broken things in Indiana Jones its a real shame. They prob don't want to spend the money to fix these old rides.
12:39 Not for sure but this might not be a matter of imagineering but a matter of fact in terms of building code. Laws might have changed from the time the attraction was built for what the minimum height is allowed for the ride building to be safe, and the imagineers simply can't do anything but have the descending ceiling off, lest they spend a large amount of time and money closing the attraction and rebuilding the ride.

=( Mere readings of a story don't impress and anything that isn't digitized or enhanced just seems.... quaint.
10:00 And THERE is the truth...
the shanghai croc is MASSIVE bc it slowly just... leans forward... it was very underwhelming
1:50 Chamber Of Destiny : Indiana Jones Adventure Disneyland
This makes sense. I have memories as a kid of going through different doors but of course the recent times i’ve rode it it’s only through the middle door. I thought I just imagined being able to go through different doors.
I love this channel so much! ❤️
We got stuck on the Haunted House ride for about 15 minutes. We were at the endless hallway, right where the knight would have been. Frankly, I'm glad he wasn't there.
5:05 i hated that we were turned around and that thing popped up and scared me ofc i was younger at the time but still scary

I remember on the third chainlift on Big thunder Mountain there used to be huge shaking rocks on the walls to simulate the cave collapsing. In recent years however, the rocks just stopped shaking all together.
I love these videos there one of the best videos I've watch.
Keep up the amazing work.
Hop everyone is safe and well🤗🤗🤗😆
Fantastic video as usual
The new dragon is still so much better than that head on a stick thing with tattered rags hanging from it that they had originally.
11:43 don't mind the guy breaking the law
People really want to get head on the haunted mansion

Not for sure but this might not be a matter of imagineering but a matter of fact in terms of building code. Laws might have changed from the time the attraction was built for what the minimum height is allowed for the ride building to be safe, and the imagineers simply can't do anything but have the descending ceiling off, lest they spend a large amount of time and money closing the attraction and rebuilding the ride.
I never rode the GMR but even I can see that when comparing it to Mickeys Runaway Railway, it was the better ride. What a shame that they removed it.
