After a few months of getting the kit, and after an engine and transmission breakdown that required both to be changed, I finally installed the kit, following your advise. Worked like a charm. @@Garagecouple So, I hear that you are a physician. So am I. I am a hand surgeon in Florida, Wesley Chapel, north of Tampa bay. I love doing things to my cars. My Jeep is my baby. Love your channel.
@@Garagecouple yup, i had it happen with my 2.5' teraflex lift and 35" tires. Def a common issue, once you go up an inch or two in lift kits, that CV boot will give and the bearings in the front drive shaft will start to make cracking and popping noises because the OEM shaft isn't designed to run daily in that angle. Best thing is to get new drive shafts with yokes on each end and ditch the OEM CV setup. Curious to see how the spacer kit will work. It adds more bolt tie-in's which I myself am weary of bc it creates more points of stress and failure. Hopefully you guys don't experience that.
@@markmissildine961 you will have to take a measurement of the driveshaft length after putting on the lift and have someone make you one. It can be done with or without the existing driveshaft in if the height of the lift allows. My fix for the moment was getting another OEM driveshaft from someone who had one in their garage until I can afford to have one made and ditch the CV joints and go with something a bit more robust.

Great DIY budget lift video showing a few safety tips like jack stands, tire under the jeep and spring compressor tip etc (except for foot protection). Next look for some sway bar quick disconnects...makes disconnecting super simple when going off-road.
Hey Guys, Great video. Just a little hint/tip, any time you are changing things with the suspension, it is much much easier if you loosen the control arm bolts and remove 1 bolt from the track bar. that will allow your axle to be much more flexable and give you more travel without fighting against you. The arms and track bar are holding the axles in place when they are tight. Besides, you should always loosen the control arms and then re tighten them back up after it is back on the ground with tires so they are not in a bind from the old ride height before the lift. Make sense? Keep up the good work... I still think Jerry was going to pick me.... :-)
Thank you so much for that pro tip. I will make a note of it and do that next time we do anything suspension for the rigs. I appreciate you taking the time to add that... Lol, Jerry was being a brat..if he was more into it he would have forsure grabbed your paper..Oh well, hopefully next time! Thanks so much for watching!
@@Garagecouple Well, I'm no pro by any means, but I have been wrenching on Jeeps and the like for a little over 40 years now and I have learned a few things along the way by busting knuckles and smashing fingers... So, that was WAY before this thing called the internet. Early on you just took your best guess at how to do something and try it until you got it done, and then hope you remember how you did it. (To help reduce blood loss the next time) But, like i had said earlier, it would still be a good idea to loosen and then re torque all of your control arms with the Jeep sitting on its wheels. That will relax the bushings and take the preload out of them from adding the spring spacers. Again, you guys keep up the good work. In case you were wondering I presently have a 2005 TJ RUBICON. I've had a couple of JKU RUBICONS, but really keep going back to the TJ's...
@Garagecouple this was 4 yrs ago.. How did the factory shocks hold up with using the spacers? Did you end up going for lift shocks or keep going as you did?? How was the road travel??
@@Garagecouple Thanks for letting me know! I actually purchased this kit over the weekend and just found your video. I was wondering if I needed to order anything else. Is there no change in its handling, both highway and off road? I'm no wheeler, but I'd like to have that option
Look at 10:14 in the video. It is the spacers that go into the lower shock mount on the front axle. There is also a good shot of the spacer at 10:50 and 13:37. It keeps the bolt from collapsing the lower mount when you install the shock extension.
Hey guys where did you put your jack stands in the rear for the rear installation. I am having a hard time finding a place that is even on both sides so i can let down the weight of the jeep to lower the axels with the jack. I was trying to see where you had it mounted on the video. Thanks in advance! Love the channel!
Great video.. bought the RC version which is pretty much identical and will be installing it this week. Word of caution, I noticed the speed sensor wire was the issue with the first rear corner. Careful not to snap that, another hundred bucks to replace. Disconnect the wire at the frame and it should give you plenty of room. Glad to hear you're still happy with this lift!
Question: I just installed synergy front end parts… New track bar, new tie Rod, new stabilizer, and new drag link that mounts to the top of the passenger side tire top knuckle(flip over kit). Also installed track bar relocation bracket that now matches the same elevation mount point of this new drag link flip mount. I currently have 2” lift on the jeep, but now the top part of the track bar relocation bracket is hitting the bottom of the jeeps frame when I hit a bad pot hole or bump. Will this 3” lift kit from Amazon solve my issue by providing more clearance, or 4” lift??
That's a good question. I'm not sure. If you have a clearance issue then yes. You would have to measure how much more clearance you need and buy the appropriate kit.
Great vid!!Just curious if you had any kind of lift on the Jeep before putting on the spacer lift kit? or if you just ran the 35's on a stock suspension/lift. Thanks in advance!!
Thanks for the kkind words! We didn't have any lift, we were running stock height with 35s without any rubbing or issues, but we had to cut the fenders! loving the lift kit! Cheers

Installed on my 2018 JKU. Had to re-center steering wheel slightly. Left front wheel needed slight alignment. Also had to replace the rear track bar with an adjustable one to re-center the body to axel. When installing my new longer rear sway bars, I had to move them to the inside of the mounting brackets to avoid top bolt contact with the wheel. Note: JT gladiator rear sway bars are also mounted on the inside of the brackets.
Should I purchase a Rough Country Rear Track Bar Bracket, a front track bar bracket, and 2 sets of Rubicon Express RE1157 sway bars, 1set for front, 1set for rear? I have read a lot of reviews that an alignment is highly recommend. What about steering geometry? Does steering needed to be adjusted? Sorry, I'm new to the jeep culture. Just got a lot questions and want to make sure that's all! 😅

how much lift should i install on my jeep if i plan to install steel front and rear bumpers, with steel rock sliders and skid plates? obviously i'll also need to install a winch and carry a minimum of 35x5 inch tires?

Garage Couple thank you so much for replying! I plan on buying this for my 2016 jk next week and was debating just putting on the front half of the kit
With adding this kit, did you guys have to change the front driveshaft? Or was there no real change in driveshaft geometry? Was there anything you guys had to change afterward that you didn't realize at the time of install? Thanks, this video and all your others are very informative!
Hi there 🖐️! We are very happy with the kit. We were just looking for some more ground clearance and we didn't want to spend a fortune. The jeep drives just as it did stock, which is great! We don't do heavy off roading, we take the tj when we do more involved trails. It has held up great though on sand, dirt roads, and mud all the best 😊
@@Garagecouple awesome thanks for the quick reply!! I take mine on Forest service roads, dirt roads, and moderate trails, but nothing crazy. I'm definitely not rock crawling it or anything. Looks like I'll go ahead and snag the lift!
Ok the only error I see was that the "biggest bolt " is actually for the rear spacer. The bolts are very close. Your rear spacers welded nut is upside down. Otherwise helpful
The nut provided in the kit was a Nylon stop nut, it is a great nut and always fits tight Do not be afraid to use it! Oh, I forgot, I called Dickies, your safety shoes are on their way! LOL Tks
How did you get the piece to stay still for the rear spacers bolt to thread into? The nut that goes up top just keeps moving on me. Any tricks would be appreciated! Thanks
Based on my knowled, really this basic Kit will impact in the geometry of your jeep. Using 3" should be required to adjust the Track Bar with a recolocation bracket or well replacing with new adjustable track bar, also is the same issue for Panhard bar. Really I think is better to do this lift work with a complete lift kit.
@@Garagecouple I have to agree with about track bar as well as a few other parts are necessary to make the Jeep stable. I had this installed on my JKU and the steering was all over the place. But then I learned why. Driving it felt like the sway bar was disconnected but it wasn’t. Super scary.

We did not have a lift and it currently sits without a rake! Cheers
Garage Couple thank you so much for replying! I plan on buying this for my 2016 jk next week and was debating just putting on the front half of the kit
K. Charles i just installed my lift last week and i have a 2017. I still have the factory rake but still looks good and put 35”s on
I have 2 inches suspension in my jk I need an inch more to put tires 37 you think this works
Yes with cut fenders it will work
With adding this kit, did you guys have to change the front driveshaft? Or was there no real change in driveshaft geometry? Was there anything you guys had to change afterward that you didn't realize at the time of install? Thanks, this video and all your others are very informative!
Hi! We haven't changed a thing! Been running it this way without any issues
I just hope you torqued all the bolts back to spec.
We did not! We just gave it some "ooomph" and 1 yr later still holding fine!
Consider yourself lucky so far.
Not really! Not lucky, things don't loosen when given oomph..hehe
How is the lift working still and did you guys need to upgrade your front driveshaft
Lift has been perfect. No issues at all. We didn't upgrade the drives haft or anything else aside from the kit.
Is this a stock sway and track bar?
Yes
@@Garagecouple if I ever went off-roading would I need a new sway and track bar or are these perfectly fine?
It depends on what you are trying to do!
@@Garagecouple I would be doing like intermediate off roading
It looks great guys
Thank you!
Awesome video... do you not need new control arms with this kit?
Nope!
I've been eyeballing this lift on Amazon, but wasn't sure of the quality. Have you guys done much off-road wheeling since you out on? How has it been?
Yes, it sounds perfect for that!
I use my LiIon ratchet is better for hard to reach limited space. ❤my LiIon.
Does your Jeep still have that lift? And the control arms don’t need to be longer for this lift or can you use the same stock control arms!!
Yup! No issues at all stock control arms
That’s I just ordered this from amazon
Sweeet
Garage Couple if I wanted to upgrade the shocks any recommendations
Stock rubicon shock
Wow! I need that. And it look so easy.....
Was very straight forward! Let me know if you have any questions! 🍻 🚙
Ok the only error I see was that the "biggest bolt " is actually for the rear spacer. The bolts are very close. Your rear spacers welded nut is upside down. Otherwise helpful
I see you have spacesors where did you get those?
Amazon, link in description
Garage Couple to push the wheels out
Yes
Did you have the stock shocks on your jeep before and after you did this installation?
We had stock jk rubicon shocks
what year is ur jeep
15
How many inch high is the suspension
This is the 3 inch kit
I have 2.5 lit kit can i still use on that
Yes you can! Just have to make sure everything else lines up like the tracbars and control arms and drives haft
Thanks
Thanks for a GREAT Video! BTW, you two are really cute together!
didnt bother watching cuz you got the longest sponsor vid i ever seen holy crap
Oh okay bud
What size tires 33 or 35s?
In this video they are 35s but we upgraded to 37s in our recent video same lift
Check it out
@@Garagecouple Did this lift kit cause any problems with 35 tires
? Can you advice and you share your daily usage and field experiences.
No issues with 35s or 37s. Drives like stock. Go for it
The nut provided in the kit was a Nylon stop nut, it is a great nut and always fits tight Do not be afraid to use it! Oh, I forgot, I called Dickies, your safety shoes are on their way! LOL Tks
Nice video, how's driving and off road any difference?
It drives like stock!
How did you get the piece to stay still for the rear spacers bolt to thread into? The nut that goes up top just keeps moving on me. Any tricks would be appreciated! Thanks
Hi! Just did it by putting our hand up there. The weight of the spring will keep it in check
Thank you for the video! Just got the lift put on my 2011 jku following this video!
Woot woot! How do you like it?
It looks great and drives pretty much the exact same as before. Well worth the time and money!
Love hearing that!
Well done. Not an easy project without a lift. Great video!
Cheers and thank you!
Shouldn't you be getting springs that are meant for a 3" lift? Going to be a pretty wobbly ride.
Its been over a year with this set up and the jeep drives like original. It drives GREAT and we couldn't be happier with it!
Go back to that :)
🍺
How much you paid for that
Based on my knowled, really this basic Kit will impact in the geometry of your jeep. Using 3" should be required to adjust the Track Bar with a recolocation bracket or well replacing with new adjustable track bar, also is the same issue for Panhard bar. Really I think is better to do this lift work with a complete lift kit.
Its been driving like this perfectly fine for years
@@Garagecouple I have to agree with about track bar as well as a few other parts are necessary to make the Jeep stable. I had this installed on my JKU and the steering was all over the place. But then I learned why. Driving it felt like the sway bar was disconnected but it wasn’t. Super scary.

What size tires do you have?
