Ghost love score, Wacken 2013!! My favourite live performance of Nightwish.. I have always "liked" Nightwish since the beginning but when i heard that one with Floor singing.....I have LOVED them ever since... worth to watch!!!
if you think her middle range is her best checkout Everdream, Storytime, Stargazers, Ghost love score and Greatest show on earth to name a few.
In this song the high voices isn't so powerfull, because it was meant to be more mellow operatic stuff.
In the song Ghost Love Score there you can hear powerful high notes from Floor!

If you're willing to do this song again, do the one in Wembley at the end of their Endless Forms Most Beautiful tour. It's worth the second watch with the way everything was so perfectly put together with the lighting, the screens, the camera angles, the acting and singing, just everything. It's filled with so much emotion, it's indescribable.
This is my first exposure to this band! Wow, I’ll certainly be checking more out. Powerful voice, powerful music. Great stuff.

Also, the performance at wembley was a much better one, esp from her. And that part sounded much better there too.
boy soprano doesnt sing any higher than a regular soprano, is the same vocal range. The reason Annette didnt do it is not because she couldnt, it just wouldnt sound right with her voice. Since floor can pull off those "operatic" vocals she can do it herself.
And the high-pitched operatic introduction was actually sung by the boy soprano. The first time I heard it I thought "What's gone wrong with Floor's voice?" Of course there was nothing wrong because it wasn't her!
Next, The Greatest Show On Earth live in Tampere! The song is about evolution. :)

This version was a bit downshifted compared the Wembley show or other Europian shows with full production and bigger stage. Also the audio athmosphere with the orchestral tapes are stronger. All orchestral tracks are recorded by London Symphony Orchestra with Pip Williams. The same orchestra made the score of The Lord of the Rings led by Howard Shore.
Floor sang thin classical voice on purpose and giving more feeling with it. She can do classical with full power as well. Ghost Love Score (Live at Tampere) should be a song to convince you about her classical vocal range and power ;)
I think the wacken version of ghost love score is better. The high note at the end has much more power!
Also the first classical bit she sings is sung by a boy soprano on the album, so the fact she can sing that part at all is pretty impressive.
The Buenos Aires version's last note is even better! Try it if you haven't :) it's the official live video

I like this version here better than the Wembley one. Floor is the only woman that rivals Ann Wilson in my mind as far as rock and metal goes.

You should listen to "The greatest show on earth" it is a 24 minutes long!! I prefer the studio version because in the live version there are sounds in the background that are barely heard but the live version is more energetic they even have fireworks in the sky but that is your decisión!! Check it you would like it!!! Besides it is song originally made for Floor the first studio album with Floor. Nice reaction by the way!!

But for classic nightwish... Phantom of the Opera will blow your mind, so will an older one called 10th Man Down. They have been going for decades (hence the new album / tour called decades) so you have a lot of songs to choose from :)

Hi Jim, I'm new here and definitely will stay for a bit longer! Great song and reaction. Glad that you chose this performance. Floor is a very versatile singer and can sing everything. She can even growl!
There are quite a few details about this performance that I like better than the Wembley version, but I usually go with recommending Wembley because of one error in the lyrics that Floor makes--- she must have been tired. The line is supposed to be, "...a widowed writer torn apart by chains of hell." But on this evening she sang, "...torn apart by dreams of hell." Minor slip, but I am such a superfan perfectionist when it comes to Nightwish that the tiniest of details stands out to me! :) :) :)
Yes Nightwish is not a POP band ... it is much greater genre band doing symphonic metal masterpieces and performances which blow your brains out. Songs include versatile and intelligent poetical lyrics.
Not as good as the wembley 2016 one! but really like this, they sound progressive like Marillion!

Symphonic metal at its best awesome band live seen them three times now
Saw them allready 4 times. First time was in the early 2000's with Tarja (Fun fact, one of the supported Band on that tour was After Forever with Floor as leadsinger), 2015 Endless Forms most Beautiful tour and 2 times this year on their Decades Tour. Every single concert was an outstanding experience.

Thank you for reacting to them once more! Have to say this isn’t their best rendition to this song, I agree with you on her singing the more mellow parts, she actually does much better than this ! They are a band for bigger stages! That is when they come with the full show on and the depth they can reach live is overwhelming! Never listen to them studio now since Floor joined the band, love the touch she puts on on almost every single song written for the two former vocalists! So kind of forgive her when it doesn’t sound like her whole potential is at use!! Seen them live with the three of them but Floor just makes me cry and jump and feel empowered at the same time!! Maybe the best for you to react are any of the videos from Wacken or Wembley or that great one from Tampere someone mention before in the comments! That is when you will see all they can put in to the band! How much they enjoy it and how much we fans appreciate them! We are a legion! Hope you’ll become a part of it, it’s been happening a lot to the new reactors to Nightwish! Going to see them live is fantastic as you look into the crowd and see so many different ages you can find, from they’re 50’s to teenagers! Everyone getting the most of it their own way! Quite an experience! I’ll shut up now!!!!!

You should react to Floor singing together with Simone Simons performing one of Epica's song together on stage with a live orchestra. She's another symphonic metal band front women, who has an even lovelier voice than Floor in my opinion. the Wembley show is the best not this version
This is one of their best songs, tells a complete story. Truly is "beautiful". Your reaction and comments are spot on. If you want to see it in a bit more theatrical surroundings then try the Wembley version.

This version is good, but check out this at Wembley with the whole show in the background where the pendulum plays a big part of the story, this is a story about pain, sorrow, death and love, this is music for the soul, this is art. Any song from Wacken is worth reacting too, but Ghost Love Score from Wacken or Tampere where Floor walks out on the catwalk in the end is worth watching.
The Tampere version is so,so powerful!

Welcome to the world of Nightwish - I am sure you will enjoy your stay! There are tons of songs to choose from, and different style song, too.
They do have some shorter songs. Idk about "3 minute pop singles," but there are quite a few in the 4-6 minute range. Sticking with their relatively newer stuff, I'd recommend I Want My Tears Back or Storytime to get a taste of some of their more "radio friendly" types of songs.

Epica is also an album by Kamelot. Epica the band took that name as a tribute to the Kamelot album. Also the keyboardist of Kamelot, Oliver Palotai, and the lead singer of Epica, Simone Simons, are a couple. At the same time the composer and second vocalist of Epica, Mark Janse, is Simone's ex-boyfriend 😁

The writer was close to ending his life because he had to sack Tarja (The original singer), he and Tarja were childhood friends.
The writer was zo depressed that he was tinking of ending his life, so listnen again to this song knowing he was about to commit suïcide.

Hey there... yup, they sure are - AKG K701 reference headphones. I use these a lot when mixing and mastering my music - they always say you shouldn't mix with headphones but these are so pure - the nuances and detail you can hear in amazing with these. They're open backed so no good for private listening as the sound escapes a lot!

Bullshit
Everybody has their own opinion and personal preference for the music they enjoy and the singers who sing. Tarja has a fantastic voice and a lot of the early music was written basically for her vocal sound. I sorta of did what Jim did and compared some of the songs that they both have sung, and some, Tarja sounded better, but (in MY opinion), I think Floor has more versatility and (again, in MY opinion) suits this band overall and I believe is a better fit going forward.
