    I've defended Haaland alot but you would have to question his mentality after Pep said he asked to be taken off last night. It's not like he's covering alot of ground or tracks back, surely an elite striker wants to stay on the pitch and score the winner for your team.

He passed it as they were approaching the box but it was goos to see him run again. I think he no longer fits into the style of play that City have adopted. They want a target man who draws defenders towards him and creates space for others. As much as I don't want to say it, I think it's time to move on so he is free to do what he does best.

    Haaland is playing in the wrong team.
    Because Pep's philosophy is to never lose possession, he can never get the service he wants(it's only really de Bruyne that gives him it). He wants the ball played quick and direct. He wants the chaos of a transition, but that hardly ever happens with City.

    He is misfit, in that City want to walk the ball into the net, They rarely look to drop the ball over the shoulder of the defender and let Haaland run. Take last nights game, Madrid did sit off, but City also pushed them back and thus created no space for Haaland to operate.
    Although he scored a lot of goals especially last season, I don't think City's style of play is suited to his game.

  • @HelgeKS
    @HelgeKS 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    "misfit" is a harsh word. Haaland's done ok with City (83 goals in 92 games isn't all that bad...) , but I don't think this team plays to all of his strengths. With Dortmund and Salzburg (and Molde for that matter) he thrived on through balls creating havoc with his speed and clever runs. He had teammates who fully understood him; Reus and Sancho, in particular. Haaland was also much more involved; drifting wide as well as being pivotal in link up play in the midfield. It seems Pep has asked him to stay up front, which makes him much more stationary and hence easier to mark. Haaland is perfect for counterattacking teams like Dortmund. City's obsession with keeping the ball ironically make Haaland look average. He still makes the runs and I don't know how many times I've screamed at the telly when a teammate chooses to make sideway or backward pass instead of taking the chance of a throughball. It is as if the team has decided that he is not allowed to be involved unless the ball is in the box.

    The English media’s bias when it comes to English players is shocking at times. Haaland getting pelters now. Granted he didn’t have the best of games but he’s a very young player who’s already achieved so much in terms of goal scoring records and trophies won. The English bias is perfectly summed up right at the end when they say about how well Kyle Walker played…he was too deep for the first goal, which ended up playing Vini onside, the cross then comes in and he completely misses the ball and falls over, allowing Rodrygo the chance to shoot and follow up the rebound. If that happened to Real Madrid and Nacho, they’d be hammering him. And how Gabby continues to sham a living as a pundit I have no idea 😂.
