I guess I was 18 or 19. I'm turning. 41 this year and in Toronto. I was in university during the height of Vinsanity, including gm 7 against the Philly. Vince got hit hard by NY in his 1st year in the playoffs after beating them hard in game 1 or 2. He literally went into Scottie Pippen Migraine mode and disappeared for the rest of the playoffs. Same thing happened to Tony Parker in 2004 when Shaq clobbered him in game 3 after Parker torched the Lakers in the first 2 games. It just shows you how rough the league was back then that ONE Hit in the paint could take you out mentally the whole series. Old man Charles Oakley at the time, was on Carter for not being tough enough, and lacking that MJ style work ethic. I remember it like yesterday. So think of what Jordan went through and still kept attacking the paint. Barkley, Malone. Duncan in the old era would have gotten abused in the paint. It's only after 04 after the Pistons old school (less physical though) defense made Kobe look like a struggling high school player. League panicked and changed the rules for the 05 season, but really enforced it in 06 (look at how different 06 Finals is played and called vs 04 Finals). So that's why you see Vince emotional there at how you had to EARN it. Think of what Iverson had to go through. Add to that, especially 80s, and early 90s, players were still taking commercial. Shoe technology was way crappier, same with training, nutrition (players before in the 70s and 80s were eating hot dogs at the airport).

I'm gonna need some "PEOPLE DON'T UNDERSTAND" merch from Matt Barnes Lol... 😅😅 ! And yes the late 90s early 2000s was thee best basketball era!
Hahaha!!! He loves saying that! 😂😂😂
Right only mj was good back then shit has nothing on today's game tire u old heads saying dumb shit there's so many stars these days
The 10s was pretty good
Naw early 90s 2 09 really the rest been all hype my opinion
@@Stopcommentingthesamecomments did u ever watch wilt,dr j,larry bird, magic johnson, dominique wilkins, isiah thomas, karim abdul jabbar, charles barkley, john stockton...and countless more great players who can play in any era,the fact that u saying only mj was good back then is just stupid lmao if he was the only good player back then then he wouldn't have lost 6 years in a row in the playoff against boston celtics and thr pistons.
u dont need to be old to understand that the players back then were great in any era.
I don't see this as an interview more of a conversation between friends that we fans were lucky enough to overhear Great Stuff! Good work fellas as usual.
If there was such a thing as ‘bodying the quarantine’, this would be it. Stay safe everyone. Love from the other🇬🇧
I new I wasn’t the only other British person watching this cmon 🇬🇧
@@uc4825 Europe in the house

I just want to sincerely thank you Mr. Carter. I have truly enjoyed watching your career. You are one of my top 5 faves of all time. ❤️🖤💚
Please give these dude an Emmy. They have been holding it down all quarantine. Matt Barnes ask great questions always prepared and Stack is certified and brings the levity.

I enjoyed his career especially when he played for my Mavericks. Thanx Vince
This the first time I heard Vince Carter curse 😂😂 an Vince got a point bout kids saying who the best cuz they really don't know💯💯
VC, Kobe, Draymond, KG and John Wall, Shannon Sharpe interviews were outstanding. We need the one and only D 🌹 next.
I’ll never forget when Vince Carter put his arm through the rim. Niggas were running outside screaming 😂😂👀
We need T-MAC next after that...? Skys the limit!
@omegadelta phoenix Fasho
Ed cota
I got a feeling t-mac will appear on knuckle heads
XXIV 88 t mac is Thursday
tmac episode after this one.
34:55 mayn stak went in on andre roberson “who does that”🤣🤣🤣
omg hilarious it’s not the first time too
He still has my favorite dunk of all time! When he jumped over the 7ft guy in the Olympics 🔥🏀
I don't think that dunk will ever be topped. Vin baker's face was hilarious after the dunk.
That dunk was 🔥🔥🔥🔥 and too see KG reaction🤣😂🤣
Yeah that was real nasty
The guy who got dunked on committed suicide some time after that ;/
KG was gonna get knocked out if he would of move over a little to the right 😂
Vince listening to you talk about those good old Mainland Buc games. ...Damn our school was the schnit. He ain't lieing bout touching the top of the rim either. I was there! Unbelievable! I'm so glad I was able to witness and be a part of that era. WHO YOU WITH!!!
Vince is just too humble. HE IS the GOAT in my opinion. Such a down to earth, nice guy too!! Amazing broadcast guys as usual.
Man now I gotta find time to watch this
Vince Carter is my favorite player all time
Me too!
Man this might be my favorite one on here. Vince got some stories
One of the best series ever Vince vs AI. Back and forth dropping like 40+ points.
My OG Bae!!! 😂😂 he’s the reason I majored in Sports Admin bc after that dunk contest I said I have to work for the NBA😂😂
Get Allen Iverson and Tracy McGrady on the show
Tmac's episode should drop this week. It was already recorded.
Gilbert Arenas, Metta World Peace, Carmelo Anthony, Zion Williamson

AYO!! Y'all got the og VC. Y'all are doing too much man 😂😂 Bless
Vince Congrats on an Amazing career! It has been an honor to witness your greatness. Your creativity set the stage for the youngins. I love that you kept your commitment and got your degree and still played amazing basketball. Stak was happy in this one. He seems to be a Vince fan, I love it!
Every few months I TH-cam his Olympic dunk over that french guy. I watch it 4 or 5 times. Same reaction as when I saw it live. It just makes me smile.
Vince is a legend the most underrated clutch player of all time not just a dunker but man he had a shot and wasnt afraid taking the last shot
I knew he was going to go in broadcasting, that’s dope. Vc been around the game for so long he could easily go into coaching if he wanted
VC singing "Put my whole arm in the rim Vince Carter" is a gem.
this was a great ep.
This young generation has no idea. Not their fault. Just born during a different time. I don’t even waste my breathe trying to explain the players of the 80’s and 90’s. They will never get it...
ok boomer
The same players that were drinking a 40 ounce and smoking cigarettes at halftime 😂😂😂
i lived n watched every generation n this is most talented. carter was very soft and I am a fan living in toronto. they are right thoygh, lebron is overrated
David Chandler its a cycle, the older gen will always say they was the toughest and shit on the newer gen, Bill and Wilt will take their gen over the 80s-90s 10 out of 10 times, the same thing will happen with these young dudes when they get older
can’t compare eras
One of the most humble and talents players to never win a ship. He deserved one so much.
Rewatching this after he won a chip with the lakers and #1 in scoring .Went to double digit number of finals. The GOAT.
I died when Vince said "Big Bean" came in & was like hey my son is good enough to be out there 😂 man I miss The Great Bean. Long Live Bean.

It’s crazy to love dudes that you never met. I’m so proud of y’all. And shouts to Vince: I’m a Damn near lifelong UNC fan and as a Jersey boy, I’m a Nets fan, and...random fact, he dated my sis back in college lmao, so shouts to NC Central too
The Jason Williams story had me crying lol I wish they went into detail about it.
This is amazing, I am one of the biggest Vince Carter fans. Truly amazing!
This was great, I love hearing the players being themselves and not being guarded like usual with media like this, props stack and Matt
One of the two best podcasts in the world! Y'all get better every week.
wow. incredible episode. I'm bias to Kobe, but this is the best interview on here so far. VC has soooo many incredible stories, historic dunks, and crazy knowledge and respect for the game. great work fellas. sat here for 2.5 hours without moving!!!
