Great wheel design. I am building my first mobile coup tractor for ducks this week. I am so totally stealing that lever wheel lifter idea. Thanks, it was the only part I could not figure out.
Diane, the wheels are wheelbarrow tires and work best when fully inflated. I just used 1" square steel tubing and some ladder hangars for the grab handles bolted to the tubing. Drilled a hole through the tubing for through bolt and used a combination of nuts and washers to make it all line up how I wanted it. I've seen nicer set ups with more elaborate pivots and hardware but I kept it simple and pretty much figured it out as I went along. Ive seen some people use those pivoting trailer tongue jacks with wheels that fold and crank which is a very cool idea but I decided against it for cost savings. These tires need to be filled tight due to heavy weight of coop......very heavy. You can cover the tires with plastic or plywood to keep the sun from baking them.
The max number of chickens would be six. I had one rooster that I gave away for obvious reasons and one of the hens just died over night but I have four in there comfortably right now but they do get broody and sometimes try to all cram into one laying box to lay...lol. Update: the coop has held up very, very well with zero water leaks thanks to the great roof. The ventilation is great with all the mesh up top. Miraculously I haven't had any problems with predator animals although we have an abundance of possum and fox. I don't even lock the locks...I just loop them through the latch although I may replace them with the spring loaded racoon proof hooks. The only thing I need to do is oil my wheels as the squeeling badly now when I move it. The only upgrade I need to work on is add some more hinged doors for easier access to the bottom of the coop. One in the very rear under the nesting portion would work well and maybe one that opens from the top of the run. I also laid down some of the correlated roof panel on the length of the run to,shade the sun and to keep the ground a bit more dry when it rains because it doesen't take them long to turn the ground into chocolate milk after a rain. I sometimes throw some wheat straw down to keep their feet dry when it's really mushy mud and the ground too saturated to move the tractor. i also need to make a new ladder using better wood since I did use interior wood for the ladder piece and it's now separating....l will also add twice the amount of treads to the ladder. Other than a couple minor improvements needed Imwould say I have been quite pleased with how the coop has been holding up and I get compliments from everyone who comes down to check it out.

My husband and I are going to try to build your tractor. It is by far the best design we have seen. It looks like you built the 4 sides and then screwed them together. If so did you use pocket screws to build the individual frames? I would love to have more detail on how it is put together. Thank you for sharing this wonderful tractor.
I love the way you made the wheels on the lever like that, and I like the pneumatic tires. Are they foam filled? I'd want some kind of a fender over them to keep the sun from baking them flat.
that i a nice coop 1 thing I noticed that I have tried in the past but have had issues with was having the roost lower than the nesting boxes, My chickens always would stay in the boxes until I moved the roost to be higher than the nesting boxes
No written plans as I build things and progress as I go. One thing I would change and I've done it on a different coop and that was too build a hinged door for top,of the run to access things easier from the top. Eventually I'll do that with this one.
Elaine. Yes I built the frame using 12' 2x4's and used normal deck screws and pre drilled most of the holes first to avoid splitting wood. I then built the coupe on top of that and the project pretty much came to,life as I went along. I had a basic plan in my head and jotted it down on paper but changes some things as I went along. One thing I would do if I could do it again is line the entire bottom boards that rest on the ground with metal flashing to keep the wood from rotting but so far it has held up just fine. You can really sink a lot of time and money into these depending on how awesome you want it. It can evolve as time goes on which is always fun. I also have another modular run I transfer from this coop to a stationary coop for my other chickens so they can have another 12' of run space. I cover the run roof with polycarbonate corrugated panels for shade and muck protection from rain. The more hinged doors the better.
Rhea Flores. The wheels have a center through bolt and I ran a sleeve on metal conduit around the center bolt to act as a sleeve to protect it from chewing up the wood. Once the arm is pivoted when lifting the arm is stopped by another bolt sticking out and. This is measured by raising the arm until coupe is off the ground and the wheel cants forward.then you just imagine where the placement of a bolt would keep the arm from continuing to the ground thus locking it in place.......its held by gravity. Simply turn it back to the original location once done moving. Just make sure chickens aren't under the framework.........i pinned one once and it just layer there.....I thought I killed it but when I lifted it again she popped up like nothing happened........lucky.
Lee Bryan. The rear of the coupe height is 2' and the front height is 2-1/2' which would give a 6" pitch. I forgot the exact dimensions while doing the video. Thanks for all the nice comments. The coupe has been holding up very well and this spring I am going to make a major change but an easy one that will make it even better by adding a hinged section to one of the roof sections of the run so I can access a large 3 gal waterer for easier removal instead of using the side door because the girls bombard me sometimes while I'm tending to their food and water and like to try to sneak out. I figure roof access will be the perfect/ easy fix.
Latest modification is a 5 gal bucket with watering nipples in the bottom. I cut a hole,for the bucket to drop through the screen at the top side of the run. The bucket is held up by a couple 2x4's mounted vertically on the sides of the run. A hole cut in the top center of each 2x4 with a round stick inserted into each hole to connect them and it goes through the center of the bucket handle to hold the bucket up from dropping all the way into the coop. When you,want to remove the bucket simply pick up weight off the bucket handle and slide the round stick out of the vertical upright 2x4's. This way nothing is on the ground and water is easier to access and refill. I had my first red fox try to get in the other night as my chickens alerted me. The fox was trying hard to get in and ignored me for the most part before I put a .22 mag behind his ear with my rifle....he would have been back every night if I didn't.

How did you get the lever to lock in place with raising the coop off the ground? I couldn't see good enough in the video.
Could you please confirm the dimensions of the coop? You said about 2 1/2 by about 1 1/2....but that sounds awfully small.
