This is the chicken Tractor I made after looking at a bunch of others. It works great to roost at night, nesting for egg collection and safe from critters.
One of the absolute best designs. You've thought of everything. VERY well done. Great job on narrating and video tapping as well. Keep em coming. Thanks for posting!
Great Tractor! I love that it's built from material you already had around the farm. The birds looks happy. Also cute the way your cat demonstrated how it keeps the birds safe. :-)
This is fantastic! I'm not looking to make a tractor, but a coop and run (converting an existing 4'x30' raised planter bed). It never occurred to me to put the coop OVER the run!!! This is GENIUS!!!!! I will be watching your other videos so that I can get a clear idea on how this works. Then I will do what I can to configure it to fit my needs. Thanks for posting this!!! :D
Thanks. It works to keep the chickens in the area you want them, Safe from dogs that roam in the yard, and very little fence needed. I plan to make the row in the garden as wide as the pen. This way they can eat the grass, weeds and bugs as I move it forward.
I made the bottom width 4' This way it fit in my pickup truck & the garden rows I planed to fit. The tin was 6' long so It was made to fit the tin. I made it 5'-6" so it had 3" overhang on both ends. It is 5' tall with 2'-6" tall lower half and that makes the top 2'-6" also. The bike I used was a 16" I cut it at the right angle. I set a square on the ground & marker up in a 90 deg. line. some welding to metal. If you look close the door to get in is in front next to the bike parts. It was a fun.
I had 10 Buff Orpingtons Chickens in Mine. As you know they are a small bird with A strong nesting tendency. If you move your pen every day they will be happy to pick bugs and weeds as they fertilize the area.

Great build, i have been tinkering with an idea similar to yours, thanks for the input. Awesome upload!
I really like this design. Simple is always best.
Definitely the best design, the most optimised use of material and space I've found so far.
