Sorry to hear that you've had a rough time with people online. I'm a big fan of your content and enjoy your informative and enthusiastic approach. Love your choice of various classical tracks as background music. Your mental health always comes first. Nobody would begrudge if you did decide to stop. But I am so glad you are continuing. I look forward to more great content in the future.

I'm so glad you're deciding to continue making content! Your channel is a bit of a rare gem in a sea of old men making typewriter videos, and your perspective as a young person who didn't grow up with typewriters really helped me when buying my first machine. love this channel!

Girl, I seriously admire any regular person getting out there on camera talking about something you’re passionate about. People can be absolute garbage to each other online, in a way they would not dare to do in person. When they post critical or rude comments, it is about THEM and their shitty attitude, not about you. I have seen a couple comments on here over the years that I wanted to give a rude reply to, but I don’t because it just gives them the attention they are desperate for. So so many of us love your videos and would really miss you if you left! 😊

I appreciate the support. My general approach is to not interact with anything that I don't find constructive in their criticism - every once in a while it can be a little much to handle!

I fully understand the aggravation with comments online, I've had experience with that on my little channel (that I've taken a break from). I'm so glad that you didn't give in because you do a great job on your videos. I learn something from each of them and I think it would be a loss if you didn't continue making videos.
You got a great deal on both of those machines and I'm glad they went to someone that is enjoying them and making the most of them while sharing with us.
Lastly, I loved the music section too, nicely done.

I'm glad you are still making content, I really enjoy it. I also think your new set looks great. Do what makes you happy. Interestingly, I have about as many typewriters as you, and I've more or less stopped getting new ones recently. I am very close to this situation and the one thing I know for sure is you are in no way done buying typewriters! In time you will buy the most broken down coveted machines and repair them on your own. You need a few more tools and you might have to ask your friends for information but you are not ready to stop. Some criticism, if it is beneficial, can make you better. If all it is one person judging everybody else's work without benefiting any of us; we don't need that.

I'm really glad you decided to continue making content. Facing the words of internet critics really affects mental health, so it's good to take a break from it when the need arises. For the last few months I've started off my mornings with a daily dose of typewriters with your channel, and i appreciate that someone else is enthusiastic about them.
I live in Las Vegas and it can be tough to find typewriters in a reasonable price range for my budget out here, but I'm super-into the ultra-portables and there are sooo many around. I travel through eastern PA all the time and I'm always finding these little beauties to put on my "want list." It's dangerous 😅
Waiting for the day I'm carting one onto a plane to bring home to Vegas 😬

I'm so appreciative that you decided to continue making content. You are, by far one of the most entertaining creators, for such a niche topic. You put a lot of time, and passion into your videos, and it shows. I want to thank you for getting me into this hobby. I've been so happy with it, and that's because of you and your videos that I felt confident enough to finally buy, and restore three typewriters myself. If you do decide to leave, I hope it's on your own terms and because I care about your well-being. I can't speak for everyone, but at least 2.3k (at the time of this comment) would notice, and would miss you a great deal. Don't forget silent majority vs. loud minority! Nonetheless, thanks for another amazing video ❤

OMG, Sarah, I'm so sorry you were targeted by some of those online nasties! I'm a moderator on a social media platform, and while most people are pleasant to meet, both online and in person, I've learned that there are some who have personal issues, or are just cruel, and can't seem to get through their day unless they've done their best to make someone else feel as miserable as they do. Like you said, anyone who puts anything online eventually has a run-in with trolls, but when I hear about them harassing certain people - and you are one of them - it really burns me up! That's partly because you have such a talent for taking something old and mundane that was ubiquitous when I was growing up and making it fresh, new and interesting. It's also partly because you seem so warm, friendly and approachable in your videos that I can't imagine what kind of monster would want to hurt you. And you remind me so much of one of my daughters that hearing of anyone treating you badly caused my Daddy to the Rescue Instinct to kick in! (I had to remind myself that you're a grown woman who can take care of herself, and you have your own parents to offer you hugs anytime you need them.) In any case, I'm really glad you decided not to discontinue your channel. Even though I'm not a typewriter collector, and I'm not planning to become one, your videos are well-researched, awesome, fun to watch and always make my day.

I feel you, I quit posting content and started deleting/backing off my online prescience a lot in the last year. Not just from the other people being, well, awful but I'm just tired of feeding these platforms my data and have them continue to do terrible things with it. Even deleted my website, the works. I grew up in the late 80s and into the 90s and the internet and BBS system back then was a whole different world. More positive, far smaller and generally less polluted with bad people and bad ideas. I couldn't wait to get online on the old hand me down Mac SE/30 or IBM PC AT back then and check my mail, newsgroups, etc. Any time between class in middle or high school and I'd be off to the computer lab as well. Now I do a "oh no, what now" whenever my phone goes off and stay offline as much as I can.
Glad you decided to stick around and it's been nice to see your videos evolve over time. I'm a newcomer to your channel so I've not seen everything yet.
Also, 200% yes in prices going up. I deal mostly in IBM stuff and non-working Selectrics go for $100-$150 these days, saw one on Marketplace asking $399 that had obvious printing issues not too long ago. I used to get them for free as they were so hard to fix most collectors didn't want to bother with them and IBM techs were hard to locate. I'm mechanically inclined so I could generally go through the repair manual and coax them back to life.

Hello from Brazil, i'm also a collector. I love you channel, but it's the first time I'm making a comment. Please, I know it's probably very difficult, but don't let these trolls impact you. These people don't deserve attention. Regarding Typewriter content, your channel is one of the largest. Most who watch and like any video usually don't make comments, but haters always love to make their mark. I am glad that you made the decision to keep making videos.....(and buying more typewriters)! Your videos are soooo informative for ALL experience levels; oh and also entertaining to watch with your subtle bits of humour, AND they are professionally created and edited, fast-paced and action-packed, which suits me personally anyway. (can't stand slooooow talkers) It is a huge skill and obvious natural talent that you have to convey useful and relatively niche information so fluidly, and concisely, and in a genuinely entertaining way. You are passionate about what you do and most people never get to experience that themselves. likely, any negativity that you are receiving is due to that person's dissatisfactions with their own lives and really has nothing to do with what you do with yours, however, it is VERY understandable to feel those actions deeply and be negatively affected by them. Thank You for continuing to Provide, as you do. Your big fan, The Solar Flare Nightmare~

No one should judge you for what you do or do not buy. I have a S-C Corsair Deluxe (like your first typewriter!) and while I love it, I have discovered that years of typing on computer keyboards has rendered me useless at touch typing on a manual typewriter. Weak pinkies, for sure! I want to look for a Smith-Corona 5TE to see if electrically-assisted typing will be my jam. Thank you for your content!

Good to hear that you're going on with the channel. You would have been dearly missed. I'm sure 99.99% of viewers love your work. May the other 00.01% get an unreachable itch.
About pricing. I think you're right about the rising gas prices, retail costs and increased shipping costs initially causing prices to rise. However, and I see this happening already where I live (The Netherlands, Europe), highly priced listings remain unsold much longer. Eventually the market corrects itself. When people have to be thrifty or at least more thoughtful about their expenditures, prices will go down. Also there's a universe of sub-economical or non-professional exchanges and outlets. There are still many, many typewriters stored in attics, basements and lockers waiting for a new loving owner. The well isn't running dry any time soon.

Enjoyable video, thanks, Sarah. Typewriter pricing here in the U.K. has become extortionate, with people who know little or nothing about typewriters greedily cashing in. The situation also now in the U.K. regarding importing from Europe is prohibitive because, as we are no longer in the European Union, import Customs Excise duty has to be paid before goods can be released. I was recently scalped for an additional £55.00 duty. This means my buying has to be limited to the U.K. Shipping costs from the USA can sometimes be as much if not more than the machine itself!
Anyway, great job with the Corona …you love that Green!
