    to me the real need is running the heater/blower at night/day boondocking when it is about 30F and how long the batteries can last. More important than running the fridge which doesn't seem to draw as much power.

      Good morning! Thank you for your note! With the insulation package in a van shell, and an efficient Truma system, really the only need for the 12V is for the blower... this should not be an issue at all with fully charged batteries.

    Was the frig cold at all times?
    Did the freezer stay frozen?
    One test I would do is put a coin on top of ice tray if it thawed the coin would drop into the tray.
    Frig is harder. Touching a bottle water wont tell you if the frig was off at any time. Other than having rotten food after a week or mayo that would make you sick.
    How long can you run the AC on 90° weather?

    • @LichtsinnRV
      @LichtsinnRV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good afternoon! The refer was consistently near 37 degrees and the freezer at 0. This actually made the refer work harder because it there was no food in the freezer or refer, which can act as "free ice cubes" so to speak. We did this test on a day that was very warm as well, near 90 as you mentioned. The Solis 59P does not have a rooftop AC, so if that's a requirement you may want to look at the Solis 59PX. Hope all this helps!

    Thank you for doing the test. Couple questions. Was the pop top open or closed? What was the setting on the refrigerator dial.

      @LichtsinnRV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good afternoon Alex! I apologize the delay as we just received notification of your comment... the pop top was down the whole week and the refer dial was set right at midpoint, and probably we should have brought it down a notch or two as we cooled below 37 degrees a few time. Hope this helps!

    Hi, I have a 2021 Solis P59 with AGM batteries. The battery type setting in my Xantrex was LFP. Should I change it to SEL (Sealed AGM per manual)?

    Does this van have an inverter that powers the AC outlets with 120V from the batteries, or do those outlets only function when plugged into shore power? Thank you.

    • @LichtsinnRV
      @LichtsinnRV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good morning Steve! Thanks for your note! You are correct that from the factory the AC outlets have electricity only when plugging in... however, we can help with a portable generator or inverter off the batteries to helps with sizing your load... there are also many portable inverters up to 2kw that work well as well. Hope this helps!

    • @steveg309
      @steveg309 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LichtsinnRV Good to know, thanks. Do you think a portable inverter would allow the use of a small microwave oven off the batteries, or is that too much power draw?

    What needs to be done and at what price to have lithium batteries installed and the converter changed to li compatible? The inability to run the ac for several hours/or recharge with a second alternator like the travato is the the deal breaker here for me.

    Hi -- this is a great videa. I'm still a tiny confused. 59P pop top. I thought it was 170w, but you mention 220w) . .. it *does* charge when plugged into shore power? My understanding is that it doesn't have a built-in charger but I'm happy to be wrong.

      Good afternoon! This will have 220w of solar on the pop top to use. The battery system will charge when plugged into shore power off the equipped and standard converter. Hope this helps!

      @@LichtsinnRV Awesome. two more questions
      1). I assume when on shore power, house switch needs to be on to charge (just like driving)?
      2) assuming fully charged batteries, what's the best way to leave the "house" switch: a)"On" and let the solar keep it topped of? b) "Off" and figure the house batteries have enough power that they won't run down, or plugged in. c)plug it in to be safe and keep the batteries in the best condition, or d) it doesn't matter?
      Thanks again for your help -- you have some great Solis content on your site!

    • @LichtsinnRV
      @LichtsinnRV  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hereusethis Good afternoon! The aux batt switch should always be on when you're plugged in to allow the converter to work... you can store this way if you have access to shore line power as it's a "smart" converter that will go into maintenance mode when the batteries are fully charged. As to solar, these are hard wired into the batteries, bypassing the shoreline and converter, so if you have to store outside this will trickle charge the AGM batteries. Hope all this helps!

      @@LichtsinnRV Such great info. I'm try to help my in-laws with their Solis. It's a little on the complicated side for them, especially once you add in relatives borrowing the van and leaving it in various states of charge, so I'm trying to put together a cheat sheet of best practices.
      So it sounds like when you don't have access to shore power and are storing it outside, you should leave the house switch "off" and the solar will keep the house batteries topped off. Is that correct?

    Can you replace the AGM batteries with 2 battle born lithium’s? Also, is it possible to have two of those solar panels on the poptop? It seems like if you slide it over, there could be room for 2. Lastly, can you please upload some photos of the Solis with the rear sofa bed option?

    • @LichtsinnRV
      @LichtsinnRV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good afternoon! We could certainly do both of those items, but we also may have to change out the converter to a lithium capable converter... the sofa option at this point is only a prototype possibility and has not yet been made available into production, if it will at all, so unfortunately we have no pictures.

      @@LichtsinnRV I understand that you can install a Dometic Brisk II Air Conditioner in place of the fan at the back of the Solis P. Would adding the lithium batteries make it possible to run the A/C without shore power? I would like a Solis with a/c, and lithium. It is my understanding that the Travato a/c can run off the lithium batteries for about 9 hours.

      Don’t know why they wouldn’t offer the lithium batteries as an option as they do on the Thor comparable unit.
