This is a new mix of the song. They recently re-released Space Oddity with new mixes and (finally) Conversation Piece included in the official tracklisting so it shouldn't be a surprise they've re-mixed and rereleased the next chronological. As we've also already had official re-mixed versions of Station To Station and Lodger I hope this isn't something they're going to carry on with, especially as Bowie's not around to approve them.

I like how they use photos of him to cover his absence in the video. They did a very good job and I appreciate that they continue to create things from David's work. Although it is only a lyric video, you can see that there is a lot of work in it and I think they captured the essence of the song very well with the visuals, thank you.

A god among men, and a beautiful example of the human spirit. Not only divinely creative and artistic, but humble and down-to-earth. David Bowie has always been the model for what kind of man I wish to be, and he has saved my life with his music plenty of times before.
I just made a similar though shorter comment. Indeed. I have seen plenty of tales of how he has saved peoples lives, over the last years. I am one of these people. There is a lot of LOVE in the universe for this man, this beautiful soul.
Read some books about him, and you will find he was full of personal faults and kinks like the rest of us. But he was extraordinarily focused, highly competitive and commercially oriented. And yes, a visionary artist, poet and musician.

Four months ago, I shared this and a few other Bowie songs to my best friend and love of my life, and we discussed how sad it had been that Bowie was no longer with us, how the world seemed grim without him. I went to the pub and someone put this 'B' side on the jukebox and I was blown away, it sounded fantastic and I'd never heard it before! The way they actually put effort into David Bowie content shows that they still respect him and his reputation. They aren't going to put Bowie's name on anything unless it's the best. But overall, a great work is larger than the person who wrote it and had he wanted to get a specific point across, he would have made it clear. So just ramp up your imagination so we can all find our own interpretations and discuss them together. It's what connects people. It's great art.
This song represents a very specific feeling to me. it makes me imagine a scenario where two people from very different backgrounds (such as a successful person and a poor/unsuccessful person) meet who think they know each other end up meeting and having a conversation. they have some assumptions about one another and maybe they make some conclusions about one another, but they both come away from the conversation as feeling like they never really know or understood the other person and therefore feel very isolated and alone. In general have you ever had a conversation with someone where you feel so incompatible with that you come away from the conversation feeling or empty? as though you never learned anything about them and they didn't learn a thing about you. it was just an empty useless conversation. any rest in peace David and Kurt.

They recently re-released Space Oddity with new mixes and (finally) Conversation Piece included in the official tracklisting so it shouldn't be a surprise they've re-mixed and rereleased the next chronological. As we've also already had official re-mixed versions of Station To Station and Lodger I hope this isn't something they're going to carry on with, especially as Bowie's not around to approve them.
@@desperatemohammedantheworl5833 In this particular case, it wasn't a box set or anything like that. It's the 50th anniversary of the album and it's been re-released under its original name Metrobolist with the completed cartoon artwork that Mercury shot down in 1970 in favor of the UK dress cover.

I like how they use photos of him to cover his absence in the video. They did a very good job and I appreciate that they continue to create things from David's work. Although it is only a lyric video, you can see that there is a lot of work in it and I think they captured the essence of the song very well with the visuals, thank you.

To me, David Bowie is an ethereal being that has never and will never die. Period. End of Sentence. But not end of being.
This song will always have deep meaning to me. Four months ago, I shared this and a few other Bowie songs to my best friend and love of my life, and we discussed how sad it had been that Bowie was no longer with us, how the world seemed grim without him. A few hours later, she would pass away and join with the Star Man up and above in the skies, and now I await, for my turn to arrive one day, and be one with them in the stars and constellations.

I went to the pub and someone put this 'B' side on the jukebox and I was blown away, it sounded fantastic and I'd never heard it before! I always put this one on when "having a jar" and the juke box bass sound was great. Lulu must of liked it too as she released her own version in the same period and it went to No.3 in the charts!! ......... Strange Times..........

This song represents a very specific feeling to me. it makes me imagine a scenario where two people from very different backgrounds (such as a successful person and a poor/unsuccessful person) meet who think they know each other end up meeting and having a conversation. they have some assumptions about one another and maybe they make some conclusions about one another, but they both come away from the conversation as feeling like they never really know or understood the other person and therefore feel very isolated and alone. In general have you ever had a conversation with someone where you feel so incompatible with that you come away from the conversation feeling or empty? as though you never learned anything about them and they didn't learn a thing about you. it was just an empty useless conversation. any rest in peace David and Kurt.

My all time favourite song..this and "all the young dudes" written by Bowie for his friends, he was a genius, kind and dedicated to music, always missed as he was one of a kind

When I was in high school, The Wallflowers did a popular version of this song. Had no idea it was a cover of a Bowie song until much later when I truly discovered Bowie thanks to a friend. I love this original much better ❤

Such a haunting masterpiece. One of my top 3 Bowie songs. Underappreciated in it's day. Glad it gets the recognition it deserves now (I never knew the song before Nirvana covered it). Love this video, too. That keen look in his eyes. Gives me chills.
