    Saved my life today! I’m using Stonecoat Epoxy to redo my kitchen counters I’d laid out the backsplashes on 2 saw horses but I couldn’t find any paint pyramids so I forgot about putting something else under them.. as an afterthought, AFTER I’d epoxied the wood, I grabbed some paint stirrers, pried up my wood and set them there.. not good timing. They stuck like glue (epoxy) after they’d dried.. was picturing having to sand for the next 2 days to get them off.. until I watched your video. Ran down to Harbor Freight, bought a heat gun and within minutes, I had them all off. THANK YOU! Watching your video was SO Clint Eastwood.. GOOD JOB!

    Just tried this. Worked well. Key learnings. 1. I ran heat gun over areas about 15-30seconds on high. 2. For larger areas, it is challenging to get a straights scrape if you cannot use wood as guide. 3. Thinking I should use planer for large epoxy areas

    Question: if I overfill a resin inlay, could I use this method to bulk remove the overflow without damaging the inlay resin permanently? maybe letting it cool and re-sanding the remaining surface?

    Great video! Quick question. After you removed the excess epoxy, how did you remove the "stain" left on the wood surface? I have been sending it down with 40 grit but it doesn't go all away. Thanks!

    What can you recommend for a semi-precious gemstone that was set on resin? There’s a small gap between the setting and stone and I’ve been trying to carve it out with an exacto knife to reset it in a different bezel. I also tried soaking in acetone with no luck.

    I have a plywood panel that is an insert to a fiberglass cabinet top. I assume the panel has been epoxied into the recess of the top. The veneered plywood panel is beyond refinishing and I'd like to remove the current panel and replace it. How to get the epoxy to release without damaging the surrounding fiberglass?

    I have a piece of redwood that I have spent a lot of time sanding on and I prematurely coated it with epoxy before I was ready so I spent more time sanding it off trying to get to the original wood but I can’t get that awful black sticky residue out of the cracks of the wood and sanding just mixes it into my wood and now it’s an ugly dark grey color so I tried good off spray and tried scraping my wood, it helps a little but not nearly enough, I am thinking about trying a razor blade on it and maybe shaving it. I don’t know how I’m going to save this project and get my redwood to return to the rich looking color it was before I covered it in epoxy resin. Any suggestions ?

    Some guys are talking in their comments about a stain left after the shave... Whats that about? Dont want to make this and have the same issue. Wood kind, or resin type, of bad sanding?

    • @blacktimbercompany5716
      @blacktimbercompany5716  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s just because the resin has soaked into the wood. You still have to sand down a little bit to get rid of that extra resin in the wood pours.

    May I share one experience because I need help to solve the problem? I have painted mural in the pool and I decided to protect the painting with epoxy. First two layers were perfect, but me as a beginner I could't control the epoxy because it cured fast and the surface was not smooth enough. Because of that I decided to put another (third) layer but in the mixture I reduced the dose of B component to slow down the drying process and then a problem arose. The epoxy did not dry. I consulted technologists, some of them told me to clean it, some of them told me to cover it with a new layer of normal mixture and I made the second suggestion. The new layer (fourth) has dried but under it (the third) layer has not dried yet. The new layer started to crack and I am currently removing it but it is getting complicated. My question is, do you know how to remove the fourth (dry) layer together with the third (that is not dry) without damaging the first two normal epoxy layers?
