Really cool tips! Something that I occassionally use is the following: you can use a freeform waveshaper like MWaveShaper or Fruity WaveShaper and draw a simple pulse to silence most of the lower amplitude sample points and maximize only the highest ones. Next you can decrease the input volume to make the clicks less frequent (as less samples will cross the pulse threshold value). You will get a crackling effect, similar to using the declicker.
unfortunately I don't know of any free de-click plugins, they seem to be pretty rare. You could experiment with a free de-noise and see the results you get out of that instead?
Generally yes, and I tend to keep them pretty simple to avoid them overpowering other elements. I mainly use FM here because you can have note "relationships" (minor 2nd, perfect 5th etc) without actually having to play multiple notes, it can just be implied through the FM modulator.
I don't know any DnB bass "names", but I just made it by taking a fairly simple waveform in Serum, then FMing it from a sine 7 semitones above with some Hyper/Dimension and distortion. Hope this helps.
I'm using this to create percussive elements in ambient music and your videos are unlike any i've found so far. Please keep sharing your bits and bops
Love the editing and info overall. Please keep uploading!
I make dark prog, scifi techno, this is a gold mine!
That White Noise Trick sounds super cool, I'll definitely try that out!
hey, I've been using that declick trick for years, it's so fun
great video, keep it up

Appreciate this ❤
Is FM synthesis how you create the initial synth sounds?

1:55 (stupid ass question) is there a specific name used for that DnB-esque bass?
