- Im excited to share with you how to create your own stylish crochet flower bucket hat with this free video tutorial. I had been wanting to crochet a cute bucket hat the past couple years and finally sat down and took the time to come up with this pattern. I hope that you find the pattern easy to understand and follow.

I want to commend you for a excellent tutorial on making a granny square bucket hat. Very clear and easy to follow instructions. As a beginner "hooker" I could successfully complete my first bucket hat. It looks soooo cute.!!!!!!!! Now I'm going to do it in different colours. I feel absolutely no too of the world❤
I followed your instructions to crochet. Thank you for the detailed video!
I made this for my granddaughter and she absolutely loved it. I did not attach my top like you did and I ended up having to take a fifth square off. After that, it lined up perfectly.
I love the twisted stitch on the hat brim it really finished it off. I used your exact colors.. Thanks
I can't wait to try this! And I love doing edges with the reverse single crochet, so this pattern is right up my alley!
After the first block, I really needed to see how to join the blocks once I finished the 2nd one. I’m going to improvise & sew them together. Thank you for the tutorial!
I am so glad you like the tutorial. I was bit nervous coming out with a hat tutorial because sizing can vary so much from person to person and even from yarn to yarn. I really hope that the video is easy to understand and follow. The joining of the blocks starts at 11:50 of the video but sewing them together is great too! I find that I almost always use the "join as you go" method when I am crocheting granny squares. Thanks again for the comment...happy crocheting! xoxo
Felicitări pentru pălăriuță!
Super frumos 🎉
I feel the same way. Being a visual learner, I need to see how the other squares are attached....
Do each square need to have just the first row complete? ..very confusing😢
Same!
❤super cute!!! Graciis😊
I followed and made this.
I made this hat now and I am sooooooooo happy thanx soooo much 💕
Oh my goodness, this is such a beautifully clear and well explained tutorial! I’ve seen so many versions of others making granny square hats but yours is by far the best. Bravo!
Wonderful video! Easy to follow. Thank you.
Thank you for this tutorial . I was able to completely understand your directions and that you took your time .❤
I am so happy to hear this! I always get flustered when I film tutorials and sometimes I think they are too long...Thank you for kind words! I hope yours turned out perfect for you!
Super helpful! Thanks for the tutorial.
Great love the hat,
Love it thanks
So glad! This was my first ever attempt at a bucket hat and I am so happy that you like it! xoxo
Great tutorial, thanks for sharing! I’ve been crocheting for years but it’s the first time I’ve come across reverse sc, i love the finish it made.
I am so happy you enjoyed this make! I came across reverse SC just last year and now try to incorporate it into anything I can! xoxo
People call the single reverse stitch u used a Crab Stitch😁
Omg this came out looking gorgeous, thank you so much. Very easy to follow.
Nicely done. Thank You. Love from Ontario, Canada ❤❤❤
Muy muy bonito!!! Gracias por compartir 😘🇲🇽✨✨✨✨✨💐💐💐
❤❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing…mine turned out a little big but I enjoyed making it and will adjust for the next one😊❤
I am so happy you enjoyed the tutorial! I was a bit nervous coming out with a hat pattern because sizing is unique to each person and the type of yarn that is used can drastically change the fit. When you make your second one you can go down as low as a 4mm hook if you'd like. But I think a 4.5 or 5mm will be just fine! Happy Crocheting!!
So its the needle that gives you the size or the pattern
@@triciasweettooth741 yes, the needle will determine the size 😊
Dziękuję 🌸

Does it make a difference if for the top of the hat, instead of chaining 3 and slip stitching into the chain, I made a magic circle and slip stitched into the first half double crochet i made?
My granddaughter picked this hat and asked me to make it. Love the hat but I have redone it 3 x and every time I have too many stitches remaining at the to when joining to the granny squares. I’ve taken my time and ensure I have 80 stitches for the top of the hat. Not sure why it’s not working out. Ty for the video.

Can I use a size 3 yarn to make this beautiful hat
Hi! Of course you can! Just make sure to use atleast a 5.5mm hook. after you make the band with the squares put it on to make sure it fits the way you'd like. If you need to make it larger or smaller at that point just go up or down a hook size. xoxo
Hi Jennifer, could you kindly explain how the other 4 squares are worked - like should there be only 3 sides complete for the 2nd row, so the last side is what you slip stitch to connect the other square?
Hi Keren! I usually will start joining the blocks together after I have crocheted 1 full side and am starting the second side. I hope this helps! happy crocheting!
WOWWW now imagine this hat with a matching floral granny square tote bag😍😍
Hi! How can I adapt this pattern for a 5yo child? 😊
It was gonna be super big if I made it with 5 aground, used 4 and put the 5th as the top of the hat
Is it important to keep the number of squares 5? Because I'm planning on adding 1 because I'm sure that with 5 squares, it won't fit me.
what size head will this fit? I don't want to make squares only to find out it slips all over my head. thank you
Hi Cheryl. My head measures 21.5" and this hat fits nicely on my head, meaning it's not too tight, or too loose. I know that every yarn is a little bit different, but if you use the yarn mentioned in the tutorial and your head measurement is around the same size this pattern will fit you. If you are concerned that it may be too large simply use a 4.5mm crochet hook. please let me know if you need anything else! xoxo
Hi. This is a wonderful tutorial. If you don't mind, what are the dimensions of the granny squares?
Mine turned out 3 inches x 3 inches. I hope this helped!
Hi! The dimensions of the granny squares will vary based on the hook size you use to get the desired size. The squares crocheted in this tutorial work up to be about 4 1/2 by 4 1/2 inches, this makes the large size. I hope this helps! -Jen

Im a visual learner. The fact that the four states were joined made my head hurt because I realized I wasn't supposed to complete them all in advance. Now I have to partially undo them and HDC after I finish one side of the 2nd row of the granny 😭👎🏽 I've made this hat three times and can't get the right size.
I am a little confused...do you complete all the row 4s then join, or just the first one and then join?
Edit: I think I got it...yaaaas. Thank you 🙏🏽💃💃
I'm glad you figured it out! I can't seem to get notifications about comments on my phone only on my computer, so sorry for the delay. I hope it worked up great for you after the joining!
Actually didn't finish it yet...my hands are messed from crocheting too much so I am on pause
I would appreciate any feedback tips of what I could possibly be doing wrong. The video says 80 stitches for the top which I have but there are 5 granny squares and each block has 15 stitches along the top. That is a total of 75. I don’t mean any disrespect just trying to figure out what I’m doing wrong. The hat is beautiful and my granddaughter really want it 😊. Thank you again for sharing and i will check back to see if there are any helpful tips for me
Hi Jeannette I am so sorry for the 2 week delayed response. You are exactly right there are only 15 stitches along the top of each block which does total 75. The 5 extra stitches come from working another slip stitch in the corners. you will work 1 slip stitch 2 together where each of the blocks join. please watch 25:15 that shows how to work a slip stitch 2 together into the corners. Please email me if you need anymore help!

Do you have a written pattern for this?
Hi Danielle, I have a free written pattern on my website. jenoelleboutique.com/blogs/crochet-patterns/crochet-flower-bucket-hat-free-pattern I hope this is what you were looking for. Happy crocheting! ;)
This was a huge challange, came out huge first of all so I suggest to anyone using a 4.5 mm hook instead of a 5 which I didn’t, and so I figured I would make 4 squares instead of 5 and once it came to the part of joining them all together to the top, it went downhill from there. Beautiful hat but thinking I was a seasoned crocheter , thought I would try it
Yes 4 squares 5 2 big
I also used 4.5 hook

Hi!! I used 100% acrylic yarn, worsted weight. ;)
I made it & it turned out way too big. Will use a thinner 4-ply next time bc the kind I used is more on the thicker side. Great instructions though!
Just finish and it is way too big.
Oh no! I am so sorry to hear this! I know how frustrating it is to make something that doesn't turn out right. Using the same yarn you can go down a hook size or 2 and it will make the hat fit more secure. Thank you for at least giving my free tutorial a try. If I do more hat tutorials in the future I will do more research to provide modifications for different sizing.
It was great until the join together....this is where most of your instructions should have been more clear..I got this far and now I'm not sure about joining the other blocks as well as did you complete the 3rd round??? Uggg
Half of this did not make sense
your video is annoyingly so bright
