What a coincidence! I'm about to head to Switzerland next week (actually landing in Paris first tomorrow then going to CH a bit later!) and we're doing a Lauterbrunnen paragliding :D
We were there just last week. Loved watching all the paragliders, but wasn’t interested in joining. Enjoyed the views from solid ground on all the amazing ridge hikes in the area. Thanks for sharing!
What time did they pick you up and what time did the activity end? i’m trying to gauge what train i can catch later in the afternoon to go back to italy.
You are so brave! I'm terrified of heights. The video was beautiful! It must be amazing to see the views from the air.Thank you for the wonderful video!! Love from Vermont
WOW !!!!! amazing video !!!! It makes me want to consider trying this, and I am paranoid of heights LOL. My husband and I will be in Interlaken from Sept. 23rd through October 4th, looks like the weather is amazing right now !!!!! Love your video's and your channel
I recommend it. There is _nothing_ like it (but then I am biased: a paraglider pilot myself, went flying the same route as Louis 2 days ago). A few things: (1) the feeling is very different than, say, standing on top of a tower of the same height would be, so the traditional "fear of heights" doesn't necessarily apply. I feel _very_ uncomfortable on top of tall masts but very comfortable flying 1 km above ground, (2) about the launch: you don't "jump off" anything, it's the opposite, you get lifted gently _up,_ and if something doesn't work, the launch process is simply stopped and redone, (3) the paragliding accident rate in Interlaken is ZERO as far as I know, and that's for the past 15 years or so, with 6 companies flying tourists practically non-stop, tens of thousands of people per year, (4) in general (not in Interlaken!) amateur paragliding accident statistics are very similar to motorcycle accident statistics, so nothing very exotic here. (Unlike BASE jumping which has terrible accident statistics.) Autumn is a very good time, less people, and trees start changing colours! Finally, (5) when flying don't worry about bumps in the air, the paraglider is made to withstand even strong turbulence (which doesn't happen on the routes the tandems fly anyway) and is _extremely strong,_ despite appearances. Just _one_ of those lines could hold your entire weight, and there are about 40 of them. The lines are actually stronger than steel (made from Kevlar/aramide).
@@JanPBtest Wow! learned a lot here - thanks for the comment! We would definitely want to go try it in Autumn. Your comment about the lines and how strong they are made me (Alexis) feel much better - perhaps I'll join Louis next time!
@@TheTravelingSwiss A bit of the local flying knowledge (never mind I live in the SF Bay Area 🙂) : when preparing for landing at the Höhematte park (shown at the beginning and the end of the video), the flag on top of the Victoria Jungfrau Grand Hotel is a very handy-dandy wind direction indicator! I suspect it wasn't designed to be _that_ but it works very well. The idea being you want to land against the wind. If you don't like the idea of doing weird spirals and wingovers, just ask the pilot to fly nice and easy. Another rule of thumb, rarely needed in practice, is when you pass a certain specific part of the Harder rocky face, it means you are likely too low to reach Höhematte. In that case you turn right and land at... Schiessstand Lehn (a meadow used for.. target practice!)
@@JanPBtest i’m paragliding in Interlaken at the end of the month and i’m afraid of heights! But this comment just reassured me that i’ll have a great time ❤ thanks!
@@keithabados4826 You'll probably feel a bit apprehensive at first but it's normal and good for the soul 🙂 Birds also hesitate before leaving the nest for the first time. After you land, it will be a cool sense of accomplishment!
We found it really peaceful actually! No roller coaster drop feelings! If you want a calm ride you can let your instructor know, likewise if you want to feel some g forces you can also let them know and they can do some fun turns, but they will adjust totally to you!
@@pinoydish2440 haha no rollercoaster drop feeling!!! The running down part was fine, you just keep running fast until you can’t. When you’re flying, you’re suspended in air so it just feels like you’re sitting in high altitude with wind in your face. The instructor does all the navigating so just enjoy the scenery!
Paraglider trim airspeed is about (a bit less than) 30 km/h. There is a way to lower the wing's angle of attack which adds about 10 km/h to the airspeed (in case of a stronger headwind or a patch of sinking air). During landing the speed wrt the ground is typically about walking speed, so landing is like stepping off an escalator.
We skipped trying this when we visited at the end of May, but After watching I would definitely consider it. Thank you Louis!
Thank you for sharing! This is on my bucket list - going in a month's time!
We've done this from a boat, but just running downhill looks like a gentler start.
Sooooo goood! Thanks for flying with us!
Thanks for having us! Bucketlist moment for us!
It sure looks lovely and refreshing out there🏕
Did this with paragliding in Interlaken. My partner was Jabi. Amazing experience. So worth it.

Lucky you! Have fun!
Weather forecast is good for next week.
Beautiful Flying👏This is on my bucket list✨
Amazing footage. So cool with the aerial shots
Hi I was in interlaken nd Zurich June 19 to 24 2022, it’s so beautiful, will be back on winter time
Amazing scenery landscape footage Switzerland, thumbs up 19👍
Great content videos as always. Can you bring your own go pro or insta 360 X3 action cameras on flight????? Keep up the awesome videos🇨🇦
OMG, freaking awesome video! Loved it!!

Thanks for watching! It's beautiful to experience, but also lovely to just see in the sky!
I can’t believe it. It was amazing
Thank you for sharing your experience. Maybe I'll try it when I'm in Swiss in a couple of months.....kinda scary though 😥
Hi!! How much is it? I'm planning to go on the first days of September :)
What time did they pick you up and what time did the activity end? i’m trying to gauge what train i can catch later in the afternoon to go back to italy.
Awesome!
Looking forward to doing this next month. Wondering, was this the extended flight one?
Nope! This was the standard! About 20 min of flight time
Amazing!

Maybe I missed it but approximately how much does this activity cost? We'll be there first of October. Staying in Lauterbrunnen. Thank you!
They have a few different options but the one showcased in this video was 160 CHF!
@@TheTravelingSwiss this was my same question, thanks for confirming. We get there in 2 days 😃😁

hello there, are you allowed to use your own camera and film on your own?
I see many people carrying go pros. Can't find a correct answer 😕. I'm gonna be there in 2 weeks and I do wanna carry one myself if possible
Yes but it _must_ be tethered somehow (too many phones fell down to the ground, it's potentially very dangerous for people down there!).
I went there 2 weeks a go
Is it allowed to bring camera with you?
What time did you fly?
This looks like so much fun. Definitely something we'd like to do someday.
Does the Swiss travel pass provide any discount for paragliding?
I don't think so but you can check their web sites.
Waooooo......
How much does it cost to do this.

This was in early September
