Amazing tutorial video. The careful instruction and level of detail for a dummy like me is brilliant. How do you determine that you have the fluid at the correct temp before checking levels? If the level is low, do you top it up first before draiing? Is there specific details or specs you can give me on the tool you used to remove the pan bolts? It looked like there was very little clearance there. I don't have a flex head/breaker wrench, but I want to make sure I buy one that can fit and is the best tool for the job. Sorry for the extensive questions, this is the only useful info I have been able to find on this process. Hope you don;t mind me picking your brain.
Thank you, sir for a great video! I'm about to tackle this job and your video was excellent and to the point! How is your Mazda 6 shifting with the Castrol transmax fluid?
This was on a buddy’s car and no issues but it also shifted smooth before the fluid change. We just wanted to get it done before his teenage daughter took the car over.
This seems like my subframe may be damaged. It was nearly impossible to get to those pan bolts, the entire process to drop the pan took about 2 hours. Installing was even harder. How did you manage to get in there with that flex head? Even with offsets, no go. It was such a pain. You made this job look easy and I've been searching the internet for this for MONTHS. Would have been useful a month ago when I did this job. Also, it seems Mazda uses RTV from the factory. We scraped it all off and used a rubber gasket, what are your thoughts vs that pink RTV?
What year is your Mazda6? Mine is 2012 and it doesn't have a transmission fluid dipstick. Do you have any videos on how to change oil on that year of Mazda 6?
Could you drain the fluid hot, to get a more efficient drain. Then wait for it to cool. Measure it cold and then replace with the same volume of new, cold ATF? Or does it not make much difference?
please tell me why who in their right mind would design that stupid phillips head clip that doesn't even work very well when brand new, let alone even as little as 50k kms down the track when it inevitably gets grit in it, just absolutely so very moronic, and they still make them, unreal...

Thanks great information I thought I wouldn't be able to replace the gasket by myself

I have mazda 6 2013. Need the engine is running while checking the automatic transmission fluid level thru a deep stick?
Do you have a video(or could you recommend one),on replacing the rear or front differential fluid, for a Mazda 6 2009?

Yeah Mazda didn’t make this easy that’s for sure. Rubber gasket should be fine I’ve used them on other vehicles with no issues.

Is in not possible to initially break the bolts free with the open-ended wrench through the fender well? Just curious as I dont have a breaker bar?
