Thomas Jane did a great Punisher in the Xbox Video game which came out in 2005! He has a great deep voice and the game was violent and true to The Punisher, But Jon Bernthal has taken the Punisher to another level.

Thomas Jane's Punisher was able to recover from being flung around and stabbed by a giant, within a few hours. Bernthal's Punisher had to be hospitalized. So I think Jane should have won that round.
If he does that gubz should put the new power that barry got he was going so fast that everyone was still u can say that ezra already did that but he didn’t everyone was still moving the sword and ww was still falling they weren’t still
While I agree with the outcome, Tom Jane's punisher was shot in the chest multiple times on the dock before he washed up on shore and survived a grenade explosion in a bathtub, as well as a pretty steep tumble down a flight of stairs with the Russian (who snapped his neck on the stairs). Also John Bernthal was brutalized when agent orange tortured him and he survived. Just surprised that these points weren't mentioned in the endurance section.
To be fair, it's a difficult thing to judge since one version had a full series of screen time to depict these skills and abilities whereas the other had 2 hours and twenty minutes. That's the equivalent of maybe 3 episodes...of a show with 13 per season.
I love both. Jane's version had a baddie believing he was being cooked by a blowtorch, meanwhile Jane was cooking a piece of meat and jabbing the poor guy with an iceream lolly.
Hellraiser988 Yup. Also its much smarter to turn people against your enemies than just kill them all directly. TJ Punisher was al9t more Manipulative while all the same Punishing. To your enemies pawns into your informants.
For me honestly Thomas Jane will always be the true punisher for me. I love John bernthal as the punisher too but Thomas Jane gives that classic anti hero tone to it. Hard to explain
I get where you're coming from because he was the guy that they turned the punisher from the original comics to look like when that movie came out because they turned what the punisher look like from the movie with Thomas Jane into what the punisher would look like until they decided to change up the punisher much more. John Is a good punisher but I feel that he's pulling off the maximum punisher idea to it and not the original antihero.
Man this is tough. I loved Thomas Jane Punisher. He had an honest love for The Punisher. Jon Bernthal is fantastic as The Punisher. I think honestly the difference is writing and length of ability to dive into the character.
Love both these actors as the punisher, hands down. I thought this was an extremely fair analysis, except one part. As far as endurance, don't forget Thomas Jane's punisher took a bullet in the chest, was left on a dock that blew up, and was thrown into the sea before being found. That was probably worse than that Russian fight.
I agree with the result but you forgot to mention that Jane was ALSO brought back from the dead after he got shot in the chest real close to the heart. The bullet was about as close to his heart and Bernthal's was to his brain... so yeah, both their endurance levels are quite outstanding.
I dont know man, Thomas survive an explosive point blank though....But since the movie only have so much screen time... of course the TV one gonna win.
Trevora Big Pussi But he didn't survive one at point blank. To survive what Thomas did your limps and internal organs would of been blasted off. But than again it's a movie.
Toughness is just one part of endurance. There should have been a durability aspect too. Bernthal might have taken more damage and kept going, but he constantly looked like shredded meat. Seriously, Bernthal was running on sheer will by the end of most of his encounters. Jane definitely looked like he physically held up better to damage. Jane might get a few cuts and bruises, but Bernthal literally looked like a zombie that had decayed for two years in water before walking through a saw mill.
@@4sphaltskept163Jane was shot through both arms, busted through wood, shot in the heart, hit point blank with a gas explosion into water, and yet still had the strength left to swim to safety. He could simply take more and keep going when compared to Bernthal
How did you skip the part where Jane's character gets shot with uzis on the dock, then beat up, then shot point blank with a pistol in the heart, then butned up with gas, then drowned... Seems pretty durable.
Yeah he didnt even mention that he got blown up on the dock. Was stabbed in the upper chest and a grenade went off while fighting the Russian. Although I do like both of them. I just think the left out a lot.
Im sorry what? Realistic? Do you know what it takes for the body to recover from gunshot wounds? Thats weeks out of action at a minimum. Tom Janes is about 35x more realistic.
No bernthal’s portrayal is anything but realistic. Thomas jane’s portrayal is tactical and calculated. bernthal’s punisher is a run and gunner rambo type
i’d say that taking a point blank 12 guage shot to the chest, regardless of armor, without being winded in the slightest is more of a testament to Old Punisher’s endurance, whereas Bernthals’ shot to the head was more luck than anything. still love them both
Gubz I can’t stress this enough... Your videos are like Mount Everest quality if every other video on youtube is that 10 feet hill across my street. For real I love your content so much, I don’t even mind that your videos are far a part cuz I can tell while watching that you put a ton of effort into them. Besides I know you have a lot to do in school and such which I respect that you prioritise. Keep up the great work Gubz, your videos are always the ones I look forward to the most
Gubz calculated that Ezra's speed is mach 27, But he also calculated Grant's flash's speed, Which was faster than savitar's speed (Which was over mach 40)
Good video comparison. But you left one thing off about Thomas Jane's Punisher in the endurance category. After punisher got shot, they poured fuel every where and ignited it. Punisher survived an explosion. Not saying that gives him a tremendous advantage. But it is neck and neck when you think about it. Also you mentioned that he had body armor that deflected shotgun shells. So that should've gave him an advantage. Just wanted to point that out.
Good video. I'm a fan. But you should've mentioned the fact that Thomas Jane survived a face to face explosion, also fell into the sea while being shot
longshot K1 survive is different from endurance. Bernthal get shot, stabbed, and etc but still managed to got up and continue to fight like nothing happens. I didn’t watched the Jane movie yet but from another comment someone said “in the beginning, jane survive explosion” so i assume he pass out so still Bernthal>Jane. If i wrong then oh well
That’s not about endurance. It’s about how long you can keep going. Bernthal has taken much worse beatings and kept going. The explosion was something that would either instantly kill him or he’d survive. He survived. But you didn’t see him get back up. In fact it took awhile for him to get better. Bernthal took a headshot which is way more likely to kill you, he’s been stabbed multiple times, shot multiple times, beaten, etc, and still kept going, and even had enough to make him rage while he should’ve been dead 3 days before that when he got shot a bunch of times.
He did not keep going, by the end of the Interrogation scene with the Irish guys, he maybe managed to take out a hand ful of other dudes and had to be hospitalized just to avoid dying. Jane's Punisher got beaten to death by the Russian and just kept on going.
He did about as much as Bernthal's character after the interrogation scene. In the Movie, he was beaten to near death, then splashed water in the dudes face and tackled him down a flight of stairs before passing out. Now if you want to talk about recovery, Jane was back in action the next day.

I think the coolest thing about the punisher is it’s implied that he gets used to getting shot. So he himself can deal the pain of being shot repeatedly with or without the armor. It’s a known fact that someone can actually get used to being shot to which is crazy
I love both versions of the punisher. But gotta go with Jon Bernthal here, i think the problem with the punisher 2004 is that the director and producers had the chance to explore the ultra-gore violence aspect of the character due to the R rating, but they barely touched it ( the closest and only scene that best represents the brutality of the punisher is when he breaks a guy's arms and then proceeds to pierce a knife through his mouth), plus they could've also demonstrated the punisher fighting skills a bit more, specially seeing how Thomas Jane physically prepared for the role, guy looks like a beast but has difficulties with most of the hand to hand encounters in the movie. If they could've fixed those 2 issues i think it would be almost unpredictable to decide which one of the 2 would win.
I've got to give it to Tom Jane. Yeah, Berthnal's Punisher is more physically imposing... but Jane's Punisher is just fundamentally more clever and inventive. Jane's Punisher is trained to get in your head and manipulate not just what the fight is, but how you're going to fight it, until in the end the truth is that he's made you defeat yourself. Berthnal's Punisher would be WAY too easy for Jane's Punisher to psyops against.
Also, Dirty Laundry is nice and all, and I still consider it as good as a canon continuation... but its content doesn't really have an impact on or reveal any new capabilities of the Tom Jane Punisher.
You did not take into account that Jane's Punisher was shot in both legs his left arm and then in the chest and to top it all off survived an explosion point blank soooo yeah.
Lord Beesh does it matter? Holland doesn't even know he has 3/4th of the gadgets in his suit, and Tobey would probably end up making holland use his own suit against him since all his enemies had a technical advantage
Personally think that surviving a gunshot to the head is more about luck than "durability". And Jane's movie Punisher done got got way more than just getting an ass-handling from the Russian.
Don't forget the scene where Jon's Punisher kept taking metal gloves to the faces for a straight 6 hours or more at the end of season one. He's also scarier imo.

DPM Actual Frank will gladly just torture you. No pretending needed.
see that's the difference. Jon bernthals portrayal of the punisher would've been just burning him with a blow torch
Johnny Pringle the thing is punisher 2004 didnt want to torture that guy because he felt like he wouldve easily talked regardless
The Commonly Informed exactly plus he use phycological torture on an idiot
Hellraiser988 Yup. Also its much smarter to turn people against your enemies than just kill them all directly. TJ Punisher was al9t more Manipulative while all the same Punishing. To your enemies pawns into your informants.
Always a dope watch. You the man Gubz
TC Does Comics wait a minute, I know u, I follow u on the Instagram
das me!!
That's why Jane's punisher needed the dirty laundry film, to give him some good hand-to-hand feats
@@dariuswrongside5811 he also voiced the Punisher in the game which hands down is one of my favourite performances

Been waiting for this for so long THANK YOU GUBZ
The punisher would win duh come on Gubz
what? nah man its obvious Frank Castle would win, i mean... cmon man
Dan81369 thats if ur referring to the 2004 punisher
YNGDMNDX Topic what u on about
no I think The punisher would win
I'm gonna go with the guy with the guns.
Man this is tough. I loved Thomas Jane Punisher. He had an honest love for The Punisher. Jon Bernthal is fantastic as The Punisher. I think honestly the difference is writing and length of ability to dive into the character.
“So you wanna call it quits huh” “Na fam” casually closes door
Netflix Punisher needs to be brought into the Movies on the bigscreen in Phase 4.
id love to see him be a good or a bad guy, the punisher vs captain america would be great
That’s a massive clash of tones. Probably not happening
I dont. The pg13 universe would water him down. Id rather keep him in the show as an unadulterated badass
Lawrence Stevens Eh, Caps not bulletproof, all he has to do is snipe him.
Lawrence Stevens Cap is an expert fighter but he isn't impervious to bullets.
Jon Berthnal is the true punisher
That is so true
Ben Barnes Billy Russo > Dominic West Billy Russo.
Jacob Angeles one is an ex marine in the same death squad as jons punisher and the other was just a mafia thug
Ben Barneswould kill him easily, a military trained black opps operative vs some mafia thug.
But dominic west was better villain
Billy Lee so did jon
Trevora Big Pussi
But he didn't survive one at point blank. To survive what Thomas did your limps and internal organs would of been blasted off. But than again it's a movie.
Billy Lee true
Don't forget the near drowning, where oxygen could have been cut to his brain putting his endurance on par or higher than bernthal's
"Bernthal is gouging out eyeballs whenever he can." 🤣🤣🤣 Love this video, great job! Jon is the one and only true Punisher.
Bernthal got hit a lot more tho? If Jane got hit just as much he'd prolly also look like a rotten tomato
@@4sphaltskept163Jane was shot through both arms, busted through wood, shot in the heart, hit point blank with a gas explosion into water, and yet still had the strength left to swim to safety. He could simply take more and keep going when compared to Bernthal
Jon Bernthal wins everytime hands down
Still think both are badass in their own way
@@logroller3946 jon is a bamboo chute and the other guy is a spaghetti
Not everytime but most of the time
Do Wolver-- oh wait a minute.....
b william Hugh Jackman vs 90s Wolverine?
Ha. Nobody will ever play wolverine as best as Hugh Jackman
How did you skip the part where Jane's character gets shot with uzis on the dock, then beat up, then shot point blank with a pistol in the heart, then butned up with gas, then drowned... Seems pretty durable.
That's what I was thinking it's just kinda like that's kinda important
Yeah he didnt even mention that he got blown up on the dock. Was stabbed in the upper chest and a grenade went off while fighting the Russian. Although I do like both of them. I just think the left out a lot.
Alex Miller he wasn’t shot in the heart and he didn’t drown. Stop milking
@@charlesturner1045 And had his head smashed by a fridge door
Of course he "forgot" to mention it, this goddamn video is biased as hell.
Jons punisher is way more realistic if we’re being honest, that’s why I like his more.
Im sorry what? Realistic? Do you know what it takes for the body to recover from gunshot wounds? Thats weeks out of action at a minimum. Tom Janes is about 35x more realistic.
Yeah no, jons is beyond fantasy.
We're really going to use the word realistic with comics?
Ya
No bernthal’s portrayal is anything but realistic. Thomas jane’s portrayal is tactical and calculated. bernthal’s punisher is a run and gunner rambo type
i’d say that taking a point blank 12 guage shot to the chest, regardless of armor, without being winded in the slightest is more of a testament to Old Punisher’s endurance, whereas Bernthals’ shot to the head was more luck than anything. still love them both
Ok
Flash vs Flash
or....I don't know
Mr Marks TV which flash?
Skytrainer_ Trent flash
yes movie vs tv flash, though I don't think it'll be fair cuz tv flash has more to run with
1987 robocop vs 2014 robocop
1987 because it has more movies meaning more features.
BigPapa N.G 2014 would destroy 1987 Robocop
I actually love the 2014 Robocop
1987!! The originals are always better 😊
1987 would win for sure. But I did like the 2014 movie.
Keep up the great work Gubz, your videos are always the ones I look forward to the most
Jon bernthal playing the punisher is equivalent to RDJ playing Ironman
there's no definitive punisher.
Robbie Reyes Ghost Rider vs Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider
I think Johnny blaze. He got shot with an rpg and survived
Robbie Reyes got stabbed with pure carbon and survived.
Mashup C3ntr4l so did Robbie
Magma 308 Johnny can kill many powered humans while Robbie had a hard time taking Quake who is a girl out in their first encounter
Sexy Savage true but that was his first time with someone powered, plus he’s still new to the Rider thing
Do grant gustin flash vs Ezra Miller flash
Grant's flash is faster.
But Ezra still has a chance.
That should wait until the Flash solo film comes out, you know to make it fair
Asd_Maker not true ezras faster by a long shot
Gubz calculated that Ezra's speed is mach 27, But he also calculated Grant's flash's speed, Which was faster than savitar's speed (Which was over mach 40)
Asd_Maker sorry, my mistake
It’s a ballistic knife and the Punisher LOVES the ballistic knife in the comics
Good video comparison. But you left one thing off about Thomas Jane's Punisher in the endurance category. After punisher got shot, they poured fuel every where and ignited it. Punisher survived an explosion. Not saying that gives him a tremendous advantage. But it is neck and neck when you think about it. Also you mentioned that he had body armor that deflected shotgun shells. So that should've gave him an advantage. Just wanted to point that out.
Good video. I'm a fan. But you should've mentioned the fact that Thomas Jane survived a face to face explosion, also fell into the sea while being shot
longshot K1 yea I like Gubz but this one wasn't so good
longshot K1 survive is different from endurance.
Plz do the jack nicleson joker vs suicide squad joker
AdventureJedi24 he choose Jared cause he's a modern version of jack joker
Jared Leto is not the joker he is simply just a pimped out clown
Ill save you the trouble.... nicholson wins

When Bernthal shouts UUHHHHH!!! You know shits gonna go down
He also forgot the fact that Jane's Punisher was shot a couple times and was caught in an explosion and still survived in the beginning
R.i.p stan lee❤
I think the coolest thing about the punisher is it’s implied that he gets used to getting shot. So he himself can deal the pain of being shot repeatedly with or without the armor. It’s a known fact that someone can actually get used to being shot to which is crazy
Punisher: *gets shot in Head
Also punisher: *endurance 100*
Jon Bernthal was born for that role lmao
8:44 I love that you put in david so In a just kidding news part 😂 caught me by surprise

@@bruhmoment042 Corps
I love Jane as the Punisher, but damn... Bernthal walked in and made it clear that he was practically born to be the Punisher.
You did not take into account that Jane's Punisher was shot in both legs his left arm and then in the chest and to top it all off survived an explosion point blank soooo yeah.
YKT Anonymous I know right! I was thinking the exact same thing
So dirty laundry is the Venom of the MCU. Speaking of Venom, could you do Topher Grace vs Tom Hardy when Venom comes out.
Tropithan I'm pretty sure he will do it
Well Tom hardy will get more screen time
But I don't know
Can you do Tobey maguire vs tom holland!
Nova Ranger Tobey will destroy him cause Tom never throw a punch in homecoming. And getting his ass kicked all over the place
Toby would win, but Tom was honestly the better Spider-Man.
Now that I think about it, Tom would win with the tech upgrades he has at his disposal.
Juan Alvarez but Tobey has skill and experience.. But yeah, I guess it would be kinda unfair with all his tech
Lord Beesh does it matter? Holland doesn't even know he has 3/4th of the gadgets in his suit, and Tobey would probably end up making holland use his own suit against him since all his enemies had a technical advantage
Nova Ranger Tobey's Spidey is the strongest, has the skills and the experience, no doubt he would win.
Everyone knows, Jon Bernthal was born as The Punisher 😂
Personally think that surviving a gunshot to the head is more about luck than "durability". And Jane's movie Punisher done got got way more than just getting an ass-handling from the Russian.
Didn't Thomas Jane get tossed down the stairs with the russian? That guy had to weigh atleast 400 hundred lbs!
watching both seasons of Bernthals Punisher, idk man I would give it to him tbh
Jon is DA MAN! And props to a guy that is under 6' and not muscle-bound to kick so much ass.

9:23 we just gunna forget the automatic fire that Bernthal just absorbed in punisher season 1
"Kunai blade shooter" Also known to everybody else as a ballistic knife.
Don't forget the scene where Jon's Punisher kept taking metal gloves to the faces for a straight 6 hours or more at the end of season one. He's also scarier imo.
11:26 if you saw the punisher movie, you'd know he got shot right in the chest up close with a pistol soooooo just saying 🤷🏻♂️
I'm sorry Thomas Jane, as much as I love you, Jon Berthnal would school you.
They both have proved that they can take a beating and still stay in the fight.
