    Thank you so much for this! youtube is crowded with people doing yarn wraps for faux locs. This is exactly what I was looking for (with 3 more styles). Awesome. Thanks again!

    How cute! A nice way to add color without dyeing or chalking your hair. A fun punch of color here and there. Will remember this for when I get my locs going!

    Been doing this for yrs LOL. Only other piece of advice is if you don't want it to be permanent use a synthetic yarn. Natural wool will bind with the loc. And stay away from shark's tooth decorations. Laid down wrong on one once and thought i was bleeding to death when i woke up.

    I did this about 2 months ago and really loved the edge and change it gives to the hair. I plan on wrapping a couple more locs in pink to support a friend who was just diagnosed with breast cancer. Great tut!

    Afternoon! My little sister has dreads and they have broken of badly and my mom wants me to yarn wrap them to help repair them. Could I use the same method you did with the first dread? and start from the root?

    • @niquesoasis
      @niquesoasis  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alexis Brown I've had a few friends who actually wrapped their locs with kinky textured afro hair to thicken it, but I can't say for yarn (I've only seen it as a style) You should ask a licensed loctician who knows more about this, so you can be sure of what should be done...especially since they're broken badly :( If I hear of anything, I'll definitely let you know :)

  • @omeganme
    @omeganme 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I read that, on new locs, the first method will stunt its growth and loc pattern.
    My locs are 7 months old, shoulder length and have already started to loc. However, the ends of them are still puffy and frizzy from when I first got them installed. I'm not ready to cut the tips yet, but I want to minimize the frizz and puffiness (palm rolling doesnt seem to make it uniform with the rest of the loc). Would this be a good method for my problem? Or would wrapping it with kinky hair instead of string be a better option?

    • @niquesoasis
      @niquesoasis  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +omeganme It sounds like your locs are still in the beginning stage. Around that time, you'll still notice frizz and puffiness, so I would give your hair some more time to form. You should notice a difference around the 9month- a year. At the same time, it's normal, so don't get discouraged. If you're still not satisfied, it could be good to try the kinky hair method (I know people who have tried it) It helps with the loc'ing process. Also, a trim is great too (if you have the patience)

    How long do you typically leave the wrap style in your hair? do you remove then before wash days or do they also get cleaned with your hair?

    • @niquesoasis
      @niquesoasis  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I typically leave it in until I'm ready for a change or until I get ready to wash my hair. Everything comes out (usually at the end of every month) Sometimes, it's two weeks.

    Can I do this to my starter locs. I'm 3 months in

    • @niquesoasis
      @niquesoasis  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would probably just try the criss-cross style and wait til the 6month mark to do the others. I heard that's when the hair really begins to loc. From 6months on.

    • @niquesoasis
      @niquesoasis  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If your locs are small, I'd wait a bit.

    How do you take this the yarn out of your hair?

    • @niquesoasis
      @niquesoasis  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I usually snip the end where the knot is and take my time unraveling. Since wrapping and unraveling takes time, I normally stick with the cross-cross wrap style. It's just easier to deal with now that hair has gotten longer. And it saves time! :)

      You can find it on Amazon goo.gl/5bWmNt or in the craft store called "Michael's" (that's where I purchased mine) The prices may differ depending where you shop. Amazon doesn't exactly have the same one I have, but others. You just have to shop around for what you like.
