you would think so. But the putty I used is super strong. It's not loose at all. I can move mine easily which I do. I get what you're saying but it's not a bad alternative fix.
Yeah but they are a bit shorter and don’t line up as nicely as the original ones. So thanks for the video but i’m gonna wait for the ps5 pro plates to come online
They are not shorter mine are identical just the pins in a different place but I understand. Just wanted to say if you didn’t have the cash or didn’t want to spend it you can use your existing
Good video, I will make a suggestion though as an alternative option. When I got my OG PS5 in 2020 I bought a product called Plastidip comes in a spray can, it essentially is a paint like substance that you apply like spray paint however once it sets you are able to peel it off completely like a sticker very easily and it leaves absolutely zero residue. This product is mainly used on cars and alloys. It's very handy I sprayed my OG PS5 plates from standard white to pink and turquoise it looked fantastic. About a year later I decided to change up the colours so I peeled off the pink/turquoise and changed them to red and black. This would be my suggestion as a very easy alternative to paint, gives you to option to return to white if you wanted to without having to repaint it.
Absolutely love plastidip used it myself for a few projects. I was going to paint mine but than thought why not try this with the old sides since I don’t have the ps5 slim anymore (traded in) I was surprised how well this works. The putty is sticky and holds great and I can just pull it off later when some proper faceplates come out. Having said that I don’t need to spend 50.00 again cause this works perfectly. Obviously you don’t need to use power tools!
@@DorfdadI left the 3 hooked tabs on the rear side of the system in place to give them something to latch onto, though they don’t align as well with the center fins. Then used four command strips in the same anchor points from the original plate connect points. They’re staying on well enough until and look clean enough until an Ali express seller comes up with sets in the 30th grey.
@xbradx75, I totally agree! I left those three there for now. I don’t think I’ll even bother replacing them when the new panels come out. If you move it around a lot, maybe… But for a stationary console, it works perfectly!
Nicely done man, I’m pretty sure removing “removable” plates doesn’t void a warranty. I’m thinking about trying this with one of those metallic plates.
cany hurt honestly, and no removing the plates doesn't void anything your not opening anything up. Give it a shot you may save yourself $60 if you got an old set lying around like I did!
$700 product, why not mess around a maybe damage which will void warranty. I would recommend just waiting 1-2 months and by the new year I'm sure companies will have other colors to purchase and change without all this janky stuff and risk damaging or voiding warranty. Sheesh!
I'm going to wait till Sony starts selling the ones for the pro and then I'm going to return them stating that they don't work and send them back the slim ones that I have, stick them in the box, for a refund
Not that serious what's wrong with you people, just leave the regular faceplates how they are and play the damn game or just paint the fucking plates whatever color you want and put them back on, or just wait to spent more money when Sony makes the Pro plates, WTF?
Nothing says janky like using your bare foot with powertools during a tutorial 🤣
True story. I just try to add some of my humor to my videos. :) lucky I didn’t cut my foot off
This is great, specially for when you want to move the console and forget the top covers are being held by chewing gum.

I like the black and white combo best.
Does look nice like that I saw someone do a red and white looked like pokeball! Looked great

It's just the alternative that Im looking for. Excellent video!
Mines still holding strong!!! Not going to spend another 60$
Brothers and sisters if you are desperate just use some velcro or interlocking velcro tape and it will stay on proper.
it wont with the tabs still on them. It will bend out and look odd. Mine looks 100% identical to the white plates
@Dorfdad yea, i meant without the tabs.

I Plasti-Dip sprayed mine yesterday. Done. Looks flawless.
@@Ruttagger love to see it if you could post a link?
I recommend waiting till there actually available and some are now don't ruin your console
Understandable but what I proposed doesn’t do any harm to your console at all.
Did this with my aliexpress 30th ann grey plates I picked up for $20 ,but just used command strips to hold them in place.
How didn’t come out? Holding tight?? I was thinking g of those also but the putty is very sticky

Very welcome
But this mean thst the vynil would fit for slim on pro
Yes I believe they would! I just have a hell of a time getting them on properly
The foot action, for free?
Testing out if people would follow me on only feet.com
this is maybe the most ridiculous video I’ve seen in a while
Thank you! Kinda got what I was wanting out of it. Craziness but actually useful

so much easier cleaner and faster to just pop off the pins like I did. Also, doesn't coast you anything.
