My linearis is now big and bushy but I almost lost it. I thought lots of light was the answer so I put it in a South window. That was too much sun for it plus I didn’t understand that those little needle-like leaves take more water. I discovered the linearis sweet spot and now I sell cuttings to keep it trimmed. It’s huge! Turns out it does want tons of light but it’s got to be indirect. It sits on a South window frame with a sheer curtain and gets some weakfish light from a far away grow light as well. It takes heavy water once or twice a week, dep on the season. Best of luck! Watch your videos every time!
I love hearing your journey towards your goals , especially the cebu blue. I've got a baby one and figure it will take a couple years to reach the level yours is now. Best of luck 💚
I have alocasias and calatheas living and growing in my house. I think that was my main goal. I also have my philodendron melinonii with huge leaves and my vines are hanging. So yes I'm happy with my plant progress 😊
7:51 I don't think you'll need to buy a mature one of the big form of M. d. The big form sizes up automatically, even if it's not getting super bright light. It also doesn't need to climb to size up. The only issue with getting a small one is they're a bit harder to identify as large form for certain when small, but if you get a propagation from a known mother plant, you can be sure. The large form has a different leaf shape - kind of rounder even when small and the early fenestrations look a bit different. Here in Australia, we pretty much only have the large form. (The only small form ones I've seen are albos.) The small form needs to climb and have good light to be mature, much more like a typical climber, but the big form is pretty happy as a climber or a crawler, so it's maturation is not dependent on climbing and light and it can also tolerate lower light. (It is much slower though. The rate the leaves come out is pretty slow.)
I agree with this. If you have a large form, they size up significantly quicker than the small form! I have both, I’ve had my small form one year longer and it’s so small. My large form leaves are legit the size of my torso in a few months! All you’ll need is a cutting, I promise you! I’d love to send you a cutting or full plantlet if you’d like because mine has 8 vines now!
Get your plant room to 60-70% humidity using a WARM mist humidifier and a gentle grow light or 2 like Sansi 10W clip on light and your Tandurusa (formerly Jacklyn) will be okay. I suggest using vermiculite in an aroid mix and add worm castings. It saved mine and now I have 20" long leaves :) Good luck!
Its nice that with these older clips it is so easy to see the differences! If you want to chop and prop the Cebu Blue… Id suggest leaving the top in tact to not disturb the sizing up… and to chop and prop some of the bottom part to add to the pole in a later stage, that way you might get fenestrations at the top faster.. Or if it grows fast for you currently….. reattach the bottom part at the top? Those are established vines already… and the larger leaved parts at the current top may catch up fast enough I have succeeded on rehabbing the Alocasias (and gave them away afterwards 😂) I did not fully succeed on rehabbing the Aglaonema And the last goal of downsizing to a certain amount…. Still working on that (but oops, I purchased some Hoya cuttings again 😅)
@ haha yes it is difficult, but also satisfying! And I decided that after not buying anything since April, I was allowed a few new plants 😅, waaaaaay less than I rehomed though… and Ill still keep looking for plants that don’t bring enough joy anymore
I had a ghost leaf on my frydek, it didn't take long before another leaf started growing with stunning variegation, and now the ghost leaf is wilting away. I also had 6 corms and two of them produced only ghost leaves. I'm holding on to see if they throw some green out but I'm a bit sceptical lol
I also own variegated frydek unfortunately my turned more white, very little spots of green 🤦♀️ by the way You have beautiful plants and I adore them all😊🫶🏼
Great re-cap! Love it! Philo majestic is doing great. Mine, I only got one cutting, and it just shot off. On that journey with ya. Your Peperomia Sacrophylla looks good, I got mine after seeing yours. Only query I got is that some of my new ones are a bit bumpy or crinkly.. Do you think it's calcium deficiency? It's in brilliant light, warm environment and I repotted it with great substrate.... Love that your frydek varigata is doing well. Keeping it thriving is all down to you though! Great job! I also have same hoya k as you. I thought that was a hoya tricolour? I got this a few years ago, I though it would never flower...., and I got one padunkle flower this summer, much to my shock . But that was it, it never reflowered but I'm holding out for best year fingers crossed 🤞
My biggest achievement this year - focusing on working smarter not harder. I have more plants but spend less time on maintenance as I've learned to adopt a more efficient way of growing them. 40% of plants in pon , the rest in soil. Getting the best of both. And using predatory mites to manage them. Forgiving myself for not being a perfectionist and being OK with some plants I e either fallen out of love with, or haven't been able to revive.... I.e. I looove marantas, every which way. I tried them in water, in semi hydro, back in soil....and still can't get them to thrive. This year I've decided it's ok and I won't replace them if they end up going south. It's a good place to be in
Ahh you're giving me hope about the hoya krimson princess (pretty sure it's the same as tricolour, just different names)! Ahh I'm so proud of you for achieving your goals! Such a great feeling huh!
GOOD GROWING Hi Emma. I'm Tammy. I watch your content often and always appreciate your candor😁 Question: Where in de world did you get that Peperomia Sarcophylla, please please??? It's gorgeous!
Do it! I find it really cool to see how far I've come in the last 12 months! Defo take reference pictures for before because I don't think I realised how much many of these have grown without that
I got a verigated frydek the other day and all the leaves are all tall and upright facing the light but I have one drooping but it came like that do you think it’s just travel stressed still?
Hoya kp never blooms very rare only the reverted leaves do is what I’ve seen I have lots of hoya friends so they know from experience but if you do get it to bloom that would be amazing 👏
@ I am too! I have a small one cutting that survived out of the ones given to me 😅 might get more later to pot up together but for now still cute and sun stressed 😍
Emma, please don't feel like you havent achieved the Peperomia Sacrophylla point 😅yours is sooooo much bigger and nicer and healthier looking than both of mines !🥲😄

ah well done on your goals! downsizing is always the most difficult one 😅 I defo didn't get as low as I was hoping I would this year either!

I've switched my hoyas and peperomia to foliar fertilizer and they are thriving!! Maybe give your sarcophylla a go with that?
oooh okay! will have to try thanks!

Hey Tammy! I got it from a local online shop here in the UK. Apparently they're still not really available in the US though if you live there
Love your top
Thanks I drew it myself 🎄
I have never actually set goals before. But I think I might for 2025! I have a few plants I'd like to size up or makeover.

I found my Jacklyn so difficult to grow. I tried so much but shes just not impressed 😂
Hi emma, i have a hoya kp, she is four years old. And 7foot talk. Growing on a bamboo cane. But still no blooms. So dissapointing.
